I wanted to show you my new equipment chart for playing a Bushido Paladin.

Its meant for using the Protection Spell and Refining Resists to 75 (90) 75 75 75 75. Works quite well and with the new obtainable Blackthron Items my char now looks like I always wanted him to look.

One drawback is there though. I was not able yet to refine all armor parts with 5 mods. Damn 15% chance. But I´m sure this will be possible soon. In addition I post a picture of my updated Paladin. If there are any questions don´t hesitate to ask.

got a question, how do you make your 100 HLL weps? mine keeps messing up by having 2 stats like HLL and a resist. atm. i'm using copper hammer, powerfull and one name... could you be so kind as to point me in the right direction? or maybe i just need to keep trying?

Keep up trying. Copper hammer + powerful + vampric name is right. You just have to burn some hammers

I don't know for sure, but this negates the -15 physical resist from protection. Protection lowers your FC cap by 2, but with Chiv you can still cast at up to FC 2 (down from FC 4).

Yes the 90 physical resist is because i use protection. (Though as a human 89 would be enough, the debuff is just 14 here). As obsidian mentioned protection lowers the fc cap by 2. for chivalry no problem. My gear comes with fc1 fcr3. Enough imo.

My stats are str 130, dex 120, 38 int (with bonus from items). I use str and agi pots. Before drinking i swap to a 50epot ring to get the bonus.

Peerless work very well. (Dreadhorn, medusa, chief paro no problem). Shimmering effusion, travesty more difficult you have to swap some skills. Lady mel i have real problems with. Champ spawns are relative easy.

And btw you can handle most of those invasion generals (now in blackthorn dungeon) quite well. Easier with 2-3 people of course but doable

Against Lady mel I used 'last weapon' macro to switch to a kryss when slowed (and back to a leafblade when i'm not slowed). I use LS only with kryss so it might be any fast weapon. I honor myself when it's on 52% and lure to other part of the location after it spawn Satyr at 48. You can look at kryss mods in the topic "My Sampire".

Travesty was easy but pretty annoying. But
    - I had 99 necro in my template, so it spammed necro spells.
    - I was to lazy (or greedy) to craft special weapon (with hit area), so I shot at copies a lot (wasting mana).

What skill have you used against Shimmering Effusion? It looks very difficult for a melee char without Feint.

Hmm I might give the lady mel fight another try.

Well at shimmering I die sometimes. I always carry a daisho with me as well (for feint). My tactic is hit and run. Battle lasts extremely long though so not that funny.

You mean on the armor? Thats a bit tricky. Dci often comes with a nasty rndm stat. Start with shadow hammer, powerful, towering. Hci items are easier. Use shadow hammers (not powerful), vicious of slaughter

If I'm not mistaken, for every 20 points in Evaluating Intelligence, one point of resist penalty is removed. Since humans have a working 25 in each skill, one of those points is automatically refunded. Same with a human smith, trying to make exceptional non-runic weapons: they will always have 36% DI.

If I see this correctly, you're at: 140 hp, 167stam, 78 mana in normal walking around times. Then with pots: 155/197/78?

Do you 'remove curse' when negative spells are cast on you mid fight? Since you don't have resist, against strong magic monsters, a simple weaken takes your max stam down below 180, right? I guess that doesn't matter though, given that you can still swing at max speed as long as stam > 150 it looks like.

HP cap is 150. STR cap is 150. So with potions he must have 150 STR, 150 DEX, 150 HP, 197 Stam.
When cursed he will have at least 140 HP and 167 Stam (I believe there is no monster that can curse you for 31+ STR/DEX) but usually he will have slightly more - about 145 HP and 177 Stam.
Some monsters have additional decrease stats abilities. For example, Dread Horn casts 'stats -20' spell.

Yes corwin is right here. Though i cast remove curse from time to time when things become a bit dangerous.

Minimum stamina for max swing is 150 with those weapons. So no problem. I just dont like hp reduction

Sorry if I'm missing something, but why only 20 DCI on a melee character? I assumed the higher the better.

I think because he has refined the parts. This lets you raise resists but lower DCI. He might also be using divine fury?

I figured he did that with refinements but I was unaware of any major advantage of going over the resists by that much at the expense of DCI. Maybe I'm a bit outdated but I believed DCI was crucial for all melee characters.

As to math resists are always better then DCI. You take the same or less damage over time from melee and less damage from spells.

Yep refined resists are slightly better because you take less overall damage as corwin said. In addition its better to imbue resitances to the armor than imbue e.g. the ring with dci because i would miss important stats that only come with jewelrx

I've recently returned to UO and I'm working on building a warrior. Since my return, I've been spending a lot of time looking at these forums, particularly yours and CorwinXX's information. First of all, I'd like to thank you both for the wealth of information you've provided. You've helped me come quite a ways in the week or so that I've been back.

Looking through your posts, I saw your shift away from Necromancy, in favor of 100% HLL weapons and higher core skills. I love this idea. I really dislike having Necromancy for one skill. Something about that transition has caught me by surprise. In your first Bushido Paladin thread, you were using Insane Tinker legs as part of your suit, but you have recently shifted away from them in favor of crafted ones, opting to get your attack speed from your jewelry instead -my question is "why?" Is it only because you happened upon the correct Shame SSI jewelry to make it work? It seems to me more beneficial to take the SSI from Insane Tinker and then use the jewelry for any number of stats, making it easier to round out your suit. Please don't take this as me telling you what to do, it just seemed to me that the Insane Tinker legs were such a stat powerhouse that it made perfect sense. I was looking into them as my new purchase, but I'd like to hear your reasoning behind dropping them. Thanks!

Well tinker legs are good artifacts but they are missing some stats especially si, mi, lmc and hpi. Sadly there is no way to get si mi and hpi that high on jewelry. I did lots of calculations and ended up with the suit above.

Anyway its not that easy to get the right jewelry too. So its truely possible to build a similar gear around tinker legs. May be slightly weaker though

Hmm... I see your point. However, finding that jewelry is sure to take me quite some time I think I'll go with the Insane Tinker legs. I could always replace them if the stars align and it starts raining good SSI jewels.

One other question: how do you go about filling in your resistances while imbuing? Do you try to leave it to where you only need to imbue 1 large amount per type of resistance on each piece after enhancing/refining? Or do you fill a couple % on each piece? I built my first suit a few days ago, and I didn't realize that, using the imbue calculator, I needed to input the total amount of resistance needed, not the difference that I needed between before and after... Needless to say, the mistake left me scrambling to fill in the holes, and the Vampiric Form fire resistance hit made that much worse....

    Thanks again!

I started with legs too. They are totally viable.

As for resistances you always have to check the base stats of the armor type. E.g. Platemail 5 3 2 3 2 (phys, fire, cold, poison, energy). Then add 15 (max possible to imbue). So lets say with phys res you have 20 resistance after imbueing.

Then you add the material bonus. (E.g. Valorite 5 phys). Makes a total of 25.

You should imbue everything first and enhance the item in the end using a forged metal of artifacts

Ah, I see! I wasn't aware of forged metal of artifacts beforehand, and I was enhancing before imbuing. Enhancing after the fact will avoid the increase in cost and intensity of imbuing the piece, then you can just tack on the additional flat resistance bonus from the material. Good to know!

Having trouble making these 100% HLL weapons. Used around 800 charges so far, only got one, but that ended up with a hit spell effect too so was useless. I get loads at 81% but aside from that one, nothing higher.

Hmm i guess you're having some bad luck there. Normally you get at least 1 usable weapon every 2 copper runics

Imbued HML/HLL amount depends on a weapon speed. You can imbue up to 68/75/81 on a 2.75/3.0/3.25 melee weapon for 110 imbuing weight. You can reforge 20% or 40% more for 132 or 154 imbuing weight. Any numbers over 100 will be hidden (not displayed) but they are still here (you notice the difference if you imbue SSI on the weapon).
On a 2.0s melee weapon you can imbue 50 HLL/HML. It is counted as a true value. On a 4.0s melee weapon you can imbue 100 HLL/HML. It's counted as a bonus. So people may say 'I imbued 50 (max) HML on a leafblade so it has 68 (bonused) HML'. In those terms you can reforge 60 or 70 HML (you can also reforge 50 or less but it is not interesting and treated as a fail).
There is a penalty for a ranged weapons - HLL/HML values are halved.

So when someone say I imbued 50 HML this may mean:
    - 50 on 2.0s melee weapon
    - 100 on 4.0s melee weapon
    - 50 on 4.0s ranged weapon

With powerful copper (4 charges per try) you have a chance to reforge 70 HML/HLL without other mods. I don't remember any occurrence when I reforged 70 HML with an additional mod.
With nonpowerful ash (3 charges per try) you have a chance to reforge 70 HML/HLL with one additional mod. I'm sure you can't reforge 70 HML/HLL without an additional mod.

I think it usually takes about 5 copper runics to get one 100% HLL weapon. I also think that initially (right after reforging patch) it took less.

I've had the same results as Duncan about 1 every 2 or 3 hammers. Keep trying and check on test centre if you think your doing something wrong.

I've now had two from the same hammer. But I'm still running far lower than the averages :) Ah well. I only need 4 for now. So it's not the end of the world. Two more and I'm golden for now.

    Small update.

1st I replaced the circlet with a mace and shield platehelm. Much easier to refine to max resists.

2nd i replaced my broadswords with bladed staffs. Speed is enough for 100hll and 75 hml. Imbueing weight is higher and parry chance is better because they are two handed weapons. Since i dont use heal cure or refresh potions i dont need 1h weapons. I only carry 1broadsword with me for refreshing strength and agility potions.

    kRUXCg7 and Obsidian like this.
