Can we fix Spell Plague?

  1. Now that everyone has SA,

    Can we Make spell plague attack the resisting spells instead of hitting everytime,

    Maybe even put a timer on it...

    I like the mechanics on it, But maybe some kind of cooldown on the skill, Its really hard for me to fight these 3 vs 1 when i got people doing nothing but spamming the spell plague spell,

    It sucks for PVM so i doubt mystic pvmers would care,

    I don't think it needs much of a "fix"..seems to be working as intended.

    Did you mean change it?

    You just made a mistake there... Now this thread will be about how it's not supposed to be easy to fight 3vs1. After that it goes to how 1 archer can keep running from 3 mages but 1 mage can't run from 3 archers and daa daa daa.

    So if spell plague is overpowered, you should say you can't beat mysticmage 1vs1 with other temps.

    Agreed, tbh, as a mage of many varieties for many years, i like spell plague.

    I love spellplauge. It is a little overpowered though to be honest. If anythign scale the damage to the damage of the spell that set it off so to stop the netherbolt magic arrow spam.

    exactly, farting in their general direction will set off a 20 damage explosion.

    So you are complaining that you can't survive 3v1? I'm confused.

    Okay, first off, Spell Plague takes a LONG TIME to cast. If you can't fizzle someone in a 1v1, that is no fault of spell plague.

    Ok so, Spell Plague is your complaint, but Archers who hit with velocity, ligthning, moving shot and are virtually unstoppable, are ok? Mages get a slight boost, and people are up in arms.
    Archers have been getting boosts for YEARS.
    If you removed the balanced property on bows, then I'd be comfortable scaling down spell plague. Spell Plague is random, if you are 70 in all resists it should not be a problem. Plus it has ALREADY been toned down.

    Also - Apples. Use them. You aren't supposed to live three vs one.

    I love throwing Spell plague on things with a slayer book equipped.

    Also, I fail to see why its over powered when you're fighting someone 3v1...
     
  12. I play a mage, I have a archer who is good, Burst damage, but 1 on 1 I can beat most mystics, If I am not on my mystic,

    If its 1 on 1 and I am on my mystics 9 out of 10 times the person is gonna die,

    magic arrow netherbolt spam is nasty I do agree with you, But when you get low from the spam the person pops a Spell plague, ya sometimes you can block it with weaken but sometime the wekaen gets fizzled from the magicarrow he gets if off you apple then he puts it right back on you, that is the part I really dont agree with...

    Maybe a Diminishing return on the spell just like sleep,

    Come on, lets not try to nerf every templates.

    To be very honest, mysticism is just a supporting skill. You cannot kill with just spell plague and bombard spam.

    If you're saying overpowered, I can go bleed attack and moving shot people which is much more easy to kill people.

    Spell plague alone = cannot kill people ever (unless you're pvping newbies).


    There are templates that can easily destroy mage type. It just depends on whether you wanna use it or not.

    For example, 4 / 6 casting chiv warrior (which I have created one just to use it when opponents got too many mysticism char online).

    remove curse = mysticism, necro, mage template nerfed.

    Moreover, there are apples that can be eaten every 15 seconds and there are FACTION bandage that can be used every 15 seconds as well. Meaning you could eat an apple. Then apply a faction bandage.

    Assume 60 dex

    eat apple = 1 second (15 seconds counting)
    bandage = +8 second (15 seconds counting)
    eat apple = 6 seconds remaining to be able to eat again

    You can see the interval between remove curse (even without chiv) is also sufficient to counter all those spell plague, sleep or whatever curses throw onto you.

    Remark: There are some more powerful template a mystic can fit with. It does not neccessary need to be on a mage. Mage just have a better field support in choke points or small area.

    Are you trying to say you can't use a pot/Heal/GHeal yourself before he gets a spell plague off on you?

    Because if you are... wow I don't know what to say. I can get off almost 3 GHeals in the time it takes to cast 1 spell plague.

    Spell Plague is not an instant cast spell.

    Yea Spell Plague is fine, learn2play. Since you say you can usually survive 3v1 then learn to play better so you can survive 10v1 while on foot disarmed bled mortal'ed.

    the problem is the stacking spell plagues, right now you just get one person like yourself who is not very good on a mage,

    just spam spell plague over and over while the archers or the mages dump

    that is the problem...

    Stacked damage is fine. 3 archers can easily double shot instant kill someone just as easy. Learn 2 Play UO kiddo.

    Ive always owned you so easy on the field 1v1, dont know why are you still here crying. You came from a zerggy shard like Pac just because you can outrun everyone and everything in straight line doesnt mean that you are good. And I see you are crying about PvP again... sigh... please kiddo, you are a nobody who lasted 2 fights on sonoma before burning another xfer token back please do not say, read, spell, or type my name again that's such an insult.

    I have no problem with spell plague, its easily removable, and there are cons too it. For example it goes away after 8 seconds. I think if you are getting killed by a spell plauge and archers hitting you its not the spell plauge its the archers. The 60% swing speed increase that you can get on an archer needs to be looked at. The fact that an archer takes no skill to play, and you cannot greater heal through a 60% swing speed composite doing 50+ damage AI's is ridiculous. Thats also assuming they don't also have fencing to bleed + disarm you.

    If Disarm's the problem for you just don't run a caster using weapons.. And Disarm the attacker too. Casters with parrying were always the best counter to archery templates. If you feel that template is too cramped you should see some other templates' skill investment compared to results offered.. ;P
    Other than that I agree that archery isn't balanced at all versus other fighting and casting skills in the game(especially when you can only counter them with a single, very specific template). But specifically the MoveShot issue is only too prominent because of the speed hacking going on.

    I would change the title to "Can we fix speed hacking and balance players' speed?".. We can start taking a look at what's really OPed after that, it would be easier to judge.

    Yes you can, unless they have fireball, you can. Fastest a comp can swing is 1.5, you can fit it in there.
     
  22. This is by far the most LAME reason to nerf something I have EVER read. If 3 people are working together and you never get out of range, you SHOULD die. Enough said.
    OMFG!! Why not just make it some only one person can attack you at any one time. that would solve your problem. Hey wait I have a better solution. Take you whining behind back to tram. (@ OP)

    The only fix that spell Plague needs is the following:

    Make it individually target-able. This means that instead of me casting it on someone and having all spells/effects make the burst damage go off......ONLY my additional spells will make it burst. Right now having it effect the target globally is just dumb.

    About archers...why not lower their hci cap based off their SSI bonus on their suit? The faster you shoot the less accurate you are. 30% ssi would be the full 45hci cap, 35% ssi would be 40hci, 40% ssi would be 35hci cap...so on.

    Here's what I don't get:

    Why 25 HCI/DCI costs same in archer weapon as 15 HCI/DCI in melee. Archer can get dbl hit spell, melee can't. Archer can hit from range, melee can't. Archers can get balanced mod on 2 handed weapon, melee can't.

    So talking about something being better then other, melee is just a freaking support skill nowdays for disarm compared to archery.

    A lot of archers run melee for disarm and bleed just so they can moving shot gank someone with their dual proc bows even better.
