Can we please have Interred Grizzles as necro familiars?

There is no logic behind this question. I just roleplay a couple of necromancers and really like the design of Grizzles. (I mean the regular ones, not the Peerless.) Having one of those shambling behind one's character would be awesome!

    They're kind of cute.

Edit: Also, having something that spills acid that doesn't hurt its summoner would be useful for when you have to deal with lots of lower-level mobs at once.

    Hum.... kinda an interesting idea...

I think most all the spells need reworked for Necro, Chivalry, Bushido, Ninjitsu... and even Mysticism.....

Each of them should be put more in line with Magery. With far more usefulness.

I kinda don't even wanna go with the obvious, and easy, counter argument to this.

You want all other 'magic' skills to be more like magery...? Then what's the point of having them as seperate skills?

Arguing that they should be changed, reworked, or buffed is one thing. But more like magery? Psh. I like how Mysticism is. I think Ninjitsu should have some passive bonus's like Bushido does and that bushido should have a few more spells. Chivalry should have some higher level spells that are effective. But a complete revamp? Why? You want your parry to EXP+FS mongbats like the pros?

i agree with the OP on intered grizzles, ninjitsu is rather lame for pvm, bushido is just fine to me as it is, it just depends on what you pair it with.
as for making thing more like magery: this is the oldest of the magic skills, its fine by itself and doesnt need anything else. there is no other magic skill IMO thats as useful or stand alone
its 1 of 2 the supplys recalling, only 1 thats supports gating
it has way more summons spells
its useful in both pvm and pvp
    leave them separate

I agree the interred grizzleds would make a cool looking necro "familiar", but they are actually pretty nasty, and might be a little on the op side, although I suppose they might not be much worse than lich lords. Of course you can't command the lich lords...

Here is an amazing idea..... debuff the ones you summon :O. You can summon an ogre lord with the cloak of command..... no one does since they are weak. The familiars arnt made to fight, the give you something in return. EI: a packy, a mana regen, a life leech.

As far as reworking the spells not in magery? Why? All do exactly what they were impimented to do, and have been balanced through the years.

And ninja is not worthless PvM. Mirror images save my ass against MOBS

Apparently you don't use the familiars very much because all of them have some combative power other than the wisp and horde, the Vampiric bat only leechs damage it deals, the wolf has a decent damage output as does the snake.

True, you could always do that. Now what abilities could an interred grizzle confer? There must be a folk lore basis for them. Is there anything in folk lore which would form the basis for an ability?

addendum: I just looked up "The Wild Hunt" - which I think is the folklore basis of the Interred Grizzle, although I may be wrong. Perhaps the familiar could provide a buff for undead summoned by the necromancer? That might be in keeping with the folkore - not that UO needs to be ruled by folklore, but it does form a basis for many fantasy creatures and conventions.

What I mean in saying that is they should have FAR more choices... more in line with the number of choices Mages have... Not i want them all to do exactly what magery does... But Mages have tons of spells at their disposal.... necro has 17... if you count the various "summons" then it has what 20/21.... that's no way near the 64 spells mages have... even if they had 40 or 45 different unique spells that would be good...

That's what I'm saying.... Adding more summons and more form changes would be good... but then adding more offensive spells as well would be better..... I mean they can kill stuff and rez the dead but they can't help their party members at all.... I'm not saying they should "heal".... but animate dead might be good to use on your friend to bring them back from death.....

Hmmm, resurrect them in lich form...

Ok, some kind of undeath ritual you can perform on ghosts that you can resurrect them in undead form. Only it would be permanent (ie. if they have other forms going back to their default form would return them to the undead form). Make it some big long ritual, and of course the target would have to be willing. :)

Ok. Sorry, misunderstood. That would probably be good, I mean, not too much change, obviously, specially with Bushido, but would it really hurt to give some more spells to Sammys? Passive weapon parry bonus, negative shield parry bonus, honor, 1 nearly useless spell, 1 minimually useful, 1 that was godly but has a timer (which is fine with me) so, you get 1 useful offensive ability which keeps you from using weapon specials, 2 defensive abilities, and 1offensive that's useful only in certain situations, the rest kinda suck.

And Chivalry... Well, having some Chiv forms like was mentioned in the past would be pretty cool for high end chiv users and doesn't break already existing templates and ninjitsu... I don't know I personally think it's only useful for mirror and animal, DS and the move that affects item properties in PvP but otherwise... nah.

Magery may have 64 spells, but day-to-day, 90% of them go unused.

I see these spells used on a daily basis:

    G.Heal
    G.Cure
    E.Bolt
    Flamestrike
    Explosion
    EV
    Resurrection
    Protection
    Curse
    Bless

The rest notsomuch. They are there, but are mainly used for very specfic limited purposes.

As far as damage goes, magery sucks. The damage output needs to be upped to be more in line with the other casting skills, and with the high output abilities of melee skills.

I'd rather see them balance damages rather than rework the skills, each combat 'class' should be roughly the same.

Mmm... Roughly the same? I always saw them as trades, baring the gimplet of the month

Magery is better and fielding and xhealing/grouping, but has casting time and a lil lower damage output, but with more abilties at their disposal including summons.

Necromancy Kinda like magery, damage output is even lower in favor of curses and forms

Mystic, Can't say, never used it. Seems kinda like magery with some twists thrown in.

Melee, High damage output, high defenses vs weapons, no range.

Archer, High damage output, no defenses, relatively slow weapons.(Somethings should be removed though, at least for PvP I spose.)

All classes are relativly flexible so I don't see what your beef is?

I don't think damage is the problem, I think it's more of people running, and you wont be able to fix that by increasing damage. That would warrant a revamp of skills which is the very thing you're arguing against.

    Priorities.

    EDIT to your spell list.

    Create food,
    Heal
    Cure
    Magic Arrow
    Fireball
    Lightning
    Poison
    ect. ect.

How about a temporary Animate Dead spell that returns the player to a corporeal form for a short space of time (say, twenty seconds?) The form could be immune to damage but very quickly decay naturally as it walks around. So it wouldn't be useful for everyday playing, but it would have a limited use in, say, retrieving a body from spawn.
