No items other than the soulstones on your back, no gold , no rares, no personal bless deeds..just the skills. I'm back on Siege and I'm giving it another go, and while some skills are raising fairly decently it's totally brutal skill building. Those of you that have been here since the opening, and have skills galore, I commend and worship you on your perserverence and you're now reaping the rewards. I understand all that. All i want to do is be able to compete. I don't want item insurance, I want the risk v reward, I want the excitement that only the fear of death brings. I don't want to spend the next 6 months ( and I know, it can be done quicker, but I don't have those kind of hours to play, and I"m not going to cheat my way there, and I"m not saying anyone has, I'm saying I won't). Why can't they simply allow the xfer of a single character the way I've described it ? How much new (albeit skilled) blood would it allow to flow into this shard ? I would play factions today if I had a viable character, I would brave the most crowded idoc today if I had a viable character. I would call Chumlee terrible names (even though he was really nice to me) if I had a viable character.

I wish I had started on Siege all those years ago, I really do.

According to what the Devs said, it's not that simple. Siege is set up so differently, technically, that transfer between Siege and other shards is just not possible.
Best thing we could do to help you is round up some transcendence and alacrity scrolls in the skills you need.

Ive been here a long time. I have the AOS dress and llama that shows I have. I kept leaving and coming back for a few hours then left again. Three or was it four years ago I and 3 others left Catskills and came here. I was the most advanced. We have been here since and havent looked back. We all have houses, gold and what ever. Sure it took a while to get where we are but we did it. I believe in the days I started here we got 100 gold in our bank and houses cost gazillions. We shared a keep, then built houses one floor at at time. Its been fun and rewarding to do it ourselves.

Petra is correct. We had Cal_Mythic, the then Producer, come onto siege for a live meeting with us Siege folk (with mesanna as crowd control) once and he ruled it out completely.

I think a better idea would be to add the advanced char tokens here. It's not game changing, it only gets you a BASIC character but it would take away some of the MINDLESS grinding yet still allow you to finish up your character through gameplay instead of the grind.

I don't see any reason why advanced tokens couldn't work here. But its a whole other issue getting them to commit any time on adapting it.

Heck they could even make a few $$$ if they put the code on the Store. I'd like to see it as half the price of the current Advanced token. But I'm just crazy lol

I think even advanced character tokens are a big mistake. Make people earn their skills - not buy them!

It's much easier to make your way on Siege if you join a guild. It's much harder on your own.

Honestly I don't think advanced character tokens help all that much. With the exception of taming, most skills are pretty easy to raise to 70

Yeah I'm probably just getting carried away, I HAVE reached 70 in a few skills already. I didn't mean to come off a whiner, I'll keep grinding at it. I'm not sure I fully understand what makes a character and his stats/skills on one shard, so different from this one that it couldn't be transferred there, but if the hammer was put down on it, I won't waste another moment dwelling on it.

I don't either which is why they are no big deal to add. You can be up and playing a template from the get-go instead of spending your first couple days on Siege grinding.

You are not coming off as a whiner, you are coming off as.... just TIRED. :)

It is so hard to rebuild a new chr. here, in that it is tiring.
Most especially if they hope to pvm or pvp or even craft just want to get at it.
But, I can tell ya this, as tiring or time consuming as it all is,
there is the one other factor, somehow becoming 100.0 or higher sure tastes
sweeter to ya, once ya grind it out, HERE !

Get some rest, you will get there.
BTW I think lil Chumlee would make a great training dummy
for ya, after ya take a rest, sooo
go smack him some and then some more. :) jk

Try play the game when training. I know some skills are harder to train but combat and crafting, just use them and train them all on same time and they will go up.
If combat skills, find some spawn you can handle, kill it to gain leather and stuff to unraw with imbuing.
If crafting, get a vendor and I'm sure there are stuff you can make, that will sell or at least you can use your self. Also the bod sysstem and the heartwood quests will help you.

    My two gold coins…

Agree with the Advance Char token comment from Shh! - realistically what does it hurt?

Personally I like Siege approach to gains which avoids the RNG grind, but assuming you hit the timers perfect and you don’t use any scrolls it is still a grind. Much harder for new characters without a good base or gold to draw upon.

    Current:
    70-79.9 (5 min)(99 x 5 min = 495 min or 8.25 Hrs)
    80-89.9 (8 min)(99 x 8 min = 792 min or 13.2 Hrs)
    90-99.9 (12 min)(99 x 12 min = 1188 min or 19.8 Hrs)
    100-120 (15 min)(200 x 15 min = 3000 min or 50 Hrs)
Grand Total = 5475 min or 91.25 Hrs

    Option 1:
    70-79.9 (2 min)(99 x 2 min = 198 min or 3.3 Hrs)
    80-89.9 (3 min)(99 x 3 min = 297 min or 4.95 Hrs)
    90-99.9 (4 min)(99 x 4 min = 396 min or 6.6 Hrs)
    100-120 (5 min)(200 x 5 min = 1000 min or 16.67 Hrs)
Grand Total = 1891 min or 31.52 Hrs

    Option 2 (or any combination)
    70-120 (2 min)(497 x 2min = 994 min or 16.57 Hrs)

    It is a business.
    Customer Satisfaction vs. Profit

Customers: Most don’t like the grind. Too much grind will drive away players as they will not be competitive with the established players. Reduced time (pick one) would ease the pain a bit while still making SOAs and SOTs worth something in the player economy. More people may try Siege. More players – more interesting environment - more fun.

EA: Easy low cost programming fix for Devs to make. Only impacts the Siege program and community. If a new player tries or likes Siege, potential for some added sales; may keep account active longer, may sell a few Advance Char tokens (if turned on – probably another easy program fix), may sell more Soul Stone Tokens, as well as, all the other revenue generating items on their store. If the new player doesn’t like Siege, main production shards are still there waiting for them.

End of my two gold coins… going back to my skill training and egg timer. Rue Tor out….

Just a note... The advanced character tokens did in fact work on Siege for some time after they initially came out. I heard that they did through the "underground". I tried it my self and lo and behold Kelmo-Tamer was created. (now retired). They did work once upon a time...

I agree, I just don't know if I'd spend money on a token when it's not all that hard to get up to 70 to begin with. *shrug*

yeah, on siege it's 70-120 that's horifficly painful for some types of skills (any direct attacking skill is absolutely PAINFUL to train)....if my first character on siege hadn't been a thief where the skill is just as effective on lower weight items even while training....which allowed me to buy up a lot of my skill through sots and such....I probably wouldn't have bothered here. I prefer playing dexxers and it's INCREDIBLY time consuming to make one here, the numbers above are about right...even then it still took me about a year before any of my skills started hitting 120...most of them are still only around 112-113. ROT doesn't make siege "harder" it just makes it take forever to get started here...unless you're a crafter or mage with alacs to burn. For crafters and mages (nobody else need apply) it actually makes this the "easy" shard if you use alacs.

would love to see it but they (people running this game) would never take time outta of there busy schedule to help or do anything for siege!

What you could ask for is the ability to sell skills, this could be done on all shards, and could potentional make them money.
