just curious if theres a template that can because i went to doom a minute ago and found it was dead but 2 DF's walkin around. dont think theres anything i can do by myself so i was wondering if anyone could solo a df......and can i play with u...lol

Yes, many templates, almost every template, just for most it takes too much time. I think provo mage is the easiest.

never tried... I think it'd be more fun though going with a group.

i agree its more fun with a group... however, after shouting out at the bank "anyone want a ride to doom" for a few minutes and nobody responding, i assumed whoever wants to go to doom, has prolly already got a character in doom, so i figured id go join the fun, to my surprise not a single person.

kenga, u said its possible with many templates... is it at all possible with a straight paladin?

    swords
    chiv
    parry
    tact
    healin
    anat
    and a little resistin spells?

Sure yes. Hit and run. Heal. Repeat.

im guessing that was sarcastic...lol.. that tactic seems like it would take a really long time.... and ill remind u..theres 2 dfs there! i guess i could ping pong back and fourth between them and heal in the middle..lol..

Any fighting template with provoking has a chance to solo df. Some of them will take longer than others. The spawns, especially the rotten corpse, are provoker's best friend.
A tamer should be able to solo df with greater dragon even without provoking skill. The tamer needs to have fast mana regen rate to cast great heal and the greater dragon needs to have superb resists. The spawns, especially lich lords, are the biggest enemy of the tamer.
I have soloed df with my tamer and my archer bard. Both take quite a long time (30+min).

I've solo'd DF on a caster, but I had crazy SDI, discord and super slayer scrappers.

Soloing is definitely doable on a Paly (any weapon, but Archery is the easiest) or Tamer/Bard (Provoke).

Last week it took me about 15 minutes to put down a DF with my Paladin. Whomever said they are useless doesn't know what they are talking about.

Must be talking pure paladins, because I know a paladin with bushido and a little necro can kill almost everything ingame ;)

The important thing to remember is he regenerates HP over time. If you kill him to slowly you are losing credit for any of those regned HPs.

I solo him on my provo mage it takes me about 5-25 mins. Sometimes he spawns alot more nastys! So when its 25 mins i am sure hes regened at least half the bar meaning im only getting half credit towards a drop.

I can see an argument about the "point" system negating my above statement but this is what ive been noticing as I solo him compared ot the drop rate. So if you want to solo him on any template, ou can but, IMO its not worth it.

I can with my archer. Here are his skills:

    120 Archery
    120 Healing
    110 Anat
    110 resist
    110 tactis
    100 bushido
    50 Chiv

I carry deamon and undead slayers, I shoot and run alot. Takes about an hour for me to take one down, but I rarely die. One thing I noticed is I get more artifacts off the minor bosses then the DF.

I do 160-180 dmg on non discoed / non cursed DF with my archer. And it takes only 500 skillpoints (other 220 points are pvp related - alchemy and ninjutsu). If i had bushido would do 220+ dmg on each hit. Could solo DF but i don't like to stay alone in Doom, as it take too much time...

    Could always try this out

    120 Swords
    120 Parry
    120 Bushy
    120 Tacts
    50 Necro
    120 Spirit
    70 Chiv

Use a two hander, preferably an Ornate axe...make sure the ornate has Lower defense (high) Damage inc (High) max swing speed, Stam leech (high) and if you want have life leech or hit lower attack, those both would help alot. with 180 stam and 30 SSI you can swing it at 1.25 seconds.

Now for armor, your gonna need alot of stam inc/regen (so you stay swinging max speed). Have a complete 70's suit, max out your dci/hci (dci is great for the added parry, and the hci works great with the lower defense). Get in some lower mana cost and mana increase. if you have 50% damage inc on the wep, it shouldnt be to hard to max this out, or as close as possible.

Stats - I would max out your dex at 125 (with armor and pots take it to 180), maybe put str at 100 (if your using spirit of totem, it would put it at 120 and any other pieces you have that might add hit points.) put the rest in mana, have 50 int. be a elf and get the extra 20, making it 70 mana total. more than enough to do what we need to do.

Now for attacking. I've taken this setup from alot of different posts and put this together. some people like using Vampire form...i dont like doing this. heres what i do. Go into wraith form (for the mana regen from spirit speak) , cast EOO, consecrate weapon and start attacking. Use curse weapon to heal yourself, it heals you for half the damage you do....if you have the right suit/weapon dealing out 150 + damage every 1.25 seconds, thats 75 hits your healing yoruself for every 1.25 seconds. just gotta make sure that curse weapon is on always. now for the spawn, use the bushido skill whirlwind attack and attack everything around you as it spawns. you will now be healing yourself for all the damage your doing to everything....which is alot. be sure to kill the spawn quick though and dont forget to curse weapon. Now if you get blood oathed run away and get rid of it. It takes a while to get used to but once you have the process down you can pretty much tank anything and everything

    - - - - - - - forgive me if things have changed in game for i have not solo'd anythign big in quite some time. This is how i used to do it, and you dont need all those added items to take any such skill above its normal value.

I can solo DF in 4 minutes. I'd post how but then there will be a "nerf" it thread.

    DH record is 9 minutes.

    Shimmering record is 14.

All solo & I'll be unaffected by the upcomming patch.

Can't wait to solo more bosses in the next expansion to make people cry about it.

Forget about consecrate on the DF, it's a waste of tithing and mana. The DF is straight 30's across all resistances, so consecrate will do nothing for you.

All he did was run a script to cut the bones the DF throws at you. Other than that the template is simular to what I run for my Doom runs.

    120 Swords
    120 Spirit
    120 Parry
    100 Chiv
    90 Tactics
    70 Focus
    50 Bushido
    50 Necro

    Suit is over 70 on each, corpse proof, mr 11, hci 50, dci 45, dmi 30 w/o weapon, 40+lmc, +25 str, +35 mana/int, +33 stam/dex, +60 ep -- no shield

I use a demon / elemental katana in wraith form with curse weapon.

Basically, you're invincible unless you get blood oathed, but then you just remove curse yourself. I carry a lot of pots with me so I can get 150 str 150dex and 80+ int.

There is not a single 1 way to get this done, but its different for every character. Have fun :)
