Cant buy Gametime due to a 'Risk Assessment'

    So I've tried to buy 6 month game time from the Origin store in the UK. Both with a bank card and paypal (Both of which have worked in the past.) But I get a 'Payment Authorisation Failed' message, it doesn't take my money nor do I get a code.

    I phone EA up (Thankfully they have an Irish phone number now) and the chap says due to a Risk Asssement by a company Digital River? (I didn't catch it, so unsure) that I would have to wait 72 hours before they approve the purchase and I'd get my code.

    What a lot of bollocks surely? Has anyone had this, and it WORK? I'm just trying to pay some accounts here, not diffuse a nuclear bomb.

    What I don't understand is, when with money in my Paypal balance already, It also won't work. :( I just hope I do get my codes in 72 hours, either way, what a huge pain in the tits.

    I had the "Payment Authorization Failed" message, including from my paypal. It ended up being my Origin/EA account (not my game acct) somehow got corrupted. Mesanna was finally able to get it taken care of for me. Hopefully this is not what happens to you, but if you do not get your code then and continue to get the same message I would email her about it.

    Thank you for the Mesanna tip. I shall do that if these 72 hours have lapsed and I'm still codeless.

    I am having the same problem Mapper. Origin won't take my two credit cards, and both work other places. If this is the way they want to run their company then they can kiss my butt. I am not begging anyone anymore to take my money.

    I get the same "Payment Authorization Failed" message , I have tried to pay with CC, bank card and paypal and still get the same message. maybe it is time I give up paying altogether

    Players at the edge and almost leaving.. surely now EA will fix it?

    You know what though, I wouldn't hold my breath.... :rolleyes:

    So two phone calls later, and a very rude experience with EA live chat support I have my codes..

    The phone man was extremely helpful, the online chat I tried was extremely rude. Who told me to phone my bank, then when I said I had the issue with paypal too their response was simply 'Then phone paypal, anything else?'.

    I just hope I don't have to go through this again in another 6 months!

    You're a better man then me Mapper.

    I am not planning on phoning anybody.

    If they use my credit card, great. If not then so be it....Everything will drop and I will find a new hobby...

    Just a question, as im planning on using paypal in the future as of all the problems with CC's, are you paypal verified? If not, that might be the problem. If you are then ill hold out, and carry on paying as i do untill my DC expirary dates hits. Id rather do 6 months a time and save 30% but with all the problems ill hold out payig £60 for 6 months instead of risking loosing everything for a saving of £20.

    I had an issue similar with a different website to buy Ultimate Game Cards that it took up to 48 hours to authorise.. usually if you have done it once it wont be needed again I think

    I felt the same when the only option was to call the US. But If your in the UK try the below number, It's in Ireland and I had to wait literally 10 seconds when I phoned earlier.

    I have had to call them a few times for an Xbox related issue... much easier with the "local" number

    Although they cant help you with anything to do with your UO, DAoC or WAR accounts that would need them to view the details because only Mythic can do that
