Clarification on FCR

Discussion in 'UHall' started by Rorschach-Europa, Jul 11, 2009.

  1. Pre AOS the ‘cool down’ between spells was 2.2ish seconds if memory servers. If i have 6 FCR am i right in thinking this is eliminated *completely*?

    Cheers,

    1 fcr = 1 tick, or .25 seconds. so .25 *6 = 1.5

Edit:...somehow that is wrong, I'll get back to you if no one else corrects me.

Edit 2: As far as I can tell the above is correct, also having 6 fcr would completely eliminate the recovery time, so I guess it is just that the wait between spells was 1.5 seconds, so 6 fcr would make it 0.

  3. Thanks!

Weird, my memory is foggy but i remember it being something like 2.2 seconds... It would seem there is no cool down with 6 FCR though so unless they changed it with AOS...

Yea I can not say if it use to be longer or not, I can only say that currently it is 1.5 seconds, and 6fcr is 1.5 seconds making it 0 seconds when you have 6fcr.

So if they changed it with aos or not...not sure, it has been some years since aos. :p

  5. This is from UOGuide:

Faster Cast Recovery (FCR) reduces the recovery time after casting a spell. It is commonly found on jewelry with intensity of 1 to 3. When a spell is cast it can take a short period of time before another can be started. This period of recovery can be reduced or eliminate altogether with Faster Cast Recovery. It takes a cumulative total of 6 to eliminate recovery time. Casting recovery affects Magery, Necromancy, Chivalry and Spellweaving spells.

  6. In my own experience, I cannot tell the difference between 2/5 and 2/6.

  10. Errrrmmm.... I searched for it first on Stratics using the terms "FCR" and Faster Casting Recovery and didn't find it. The Search engine on Stratics doesn't work well for me... maybe I am just using the wrong terms. And I am still adjusting to the new collapsed menus.

Forget about 1.25 or 1.5687 seconds. The best way to learn to cast is to DO IT! After so much practice, it will become second nature/intuitive to you and you don't have to worry about the formula :)

hmm, point taken, I'll see if I can find out how the search function is set up and whether it can be adjusted to be more relevant.

  13. The search function has never worked very well for me. It always seems to pull up irrelevent information.

I'll see what I can find out, but it's beyond my abysmally low level of coding knowledge, so I have to wait till I can get feed back from someone more competent.
*is sorry for being so underqualified for the job* :sad3:

    From the Magery Page:
Unlike weapons, spellbooks cannot be disarmed, therefore Wrestling is considered to be the favourite Melee defense for Mages.
    ------------------

I was under the impression that spellbooks could now be disarmed? Or am I just getting more senile in my old age.

The information was taken from the faq on the spellcaster's forum. The only references to disarming a spell book that I can find date back to 2000, but for clarity I'll attempt to check this on test center later, if I can meet up with someone to try it.

  17. I have been having issues with macros if I cast and get interupted. They seem to have added a delay where macros do not retrigger. I have found I can click the icon and get a faster responce if this happens. If the spell is broke it's like you have no FCR at all.

So fast Casting max is 4/6?

Not only that why would you get a defence chance with anatomy ? Seems odd and almost like you don't need wrestling at all, which I do run with on my necro in spawns.

Since you can cast spells with out equiping a spellbook, I am sure if you got disarmed all you would lose would be the specials abilites for the the spell book in hand. You would still be able to cast your spells on your attacker.

There is a world of difference if you have the timing down pat. Otherwise, you will overcast a lot, and 2/5 will better suit you. It is literally impossible for a 2/5 mage to kill a 2/6 (if equally skilled). Those .25 seconds add up.

I use it. :p But often times I find a lot of it is still out dated, but I am glad you are updating it. ^^ I usually only use it to try and link back to...but if it is out dated I will just explain it myself.

Don't be sorry, at least you are trying!

I can tell you for sure that Spellbooks are in fact disarmable now. Here is the link to the Publish notes http://www.uoherald.com/news/news.php?newsid=809 It was added as of publish 55 :)

I always have a hard time "searching" on Stratics.

Can someone tell me how to search? For example, I'm on the main page. I want to search "fast cast recovery". Where to I input it?

if it's outdated, can you send me a pm with the link and I'll see about fixing it, please?

Thank you, that information now corrected.

Hildebrand: The search function works well for items in the database, but for information such as you just asked, in theory, you'd search 'essays and guides', however, as has been said, that doesn't work too well and I will try to find help getting that remedied. The information can be found by following the link 'The Mage' from the professions list in the right hand menu or from 'magery' in the skills list in the left hand menu.
