Clean-Up Pigments Costs, What do you think is a fair $

  1. A) 10,000 Points = 1,000,000 Gold

  12. L) Will not buy them at any cost.

    13.8%
  1. The stated cost of the new pigments will be a staggering 250,000 clean up points that translates into over 25,000,000 gold.
What do you think a more reasonable cost would be for a single use dye? If you stained every item on the paper doll @ a count of 17, some of which can not be dyed currently due to the Artifact/Enhanced requirement, Your cost would be 425,000,000.
This puts things into perspective that no matter how long you have played, that is an unreal amount. Even the rich should be able to see the flaw here.

I think 250k is a little spendy but if they make clean up a permanent thing then not so bad

However the colors will (in theory) be changing on a monthly basis, so you only get a month to get whatever color.

250,000 should have 5 charges IMO, so I'm gonna vote 50,000 for a single charge (or half a bless deed effectively).

75k. as stated above, they are gonna change each month. So unless you script or are 24 /7 in front of your computer, there's no way to get enough points to get 1 dye, let alone get enough to dye a suit.

Unless they up the reward points we get by turning in currently obtainable loot or ressources.

  6. If this was meant as a gold sink, i personally don't see that helping. They need to be able to be bought by a large number of players to make that effective. Think of it this way.. McDonalds sells billions of items. NONE of those items are over $7 in the continental US. This is due to the fact they actually want to sell something. These are not weapons that give any advantage in anyway. You may wish to change your suit due to a change they may come out with in the next few months. Leaving you with the need to add or change a new item with-in your gear set. Consider it in these terms. If you do a champ spawn and loot 50-100k ( assuming you are not soloing it to get all the loot yourself). You would have to do 250 champ spawns in one month.. JUST TO GET ONE PIGMENT.. that is crazy.

i still have a TOK luna white dye, 50 use? it's only worth a few mil - i voted 1mil, but won't be buying any, unless it adds a mod to whatever it's applied on.

  8. I think they should have 6-8... but that is sort of off topic. There are 6 Armor slots after all. 2 more for ring and bracelet, 1 tally, 1 sash, 1 cloak/cape/quiver, and 2 hand slot items.. total of 12 (edit 17) for the paper doll.. I know that would be a cold day in hell before they did that.:scholar:

P.S. Forgot the shoes. I know at least the Virtue suit has artifact type shoes.

i think a 10 shot dye [a good full suit plus extras] at 250k points

would be better than a 50k for a one shot dye....

why??? because the points u need for the dye are still ''high'' and u get a better deal with a 10 shot.....rather than buying single shots....

i voted 50k points or a single shot.....because there is no option for a 10 shot... but the obvoius solution would be 250k points for a 10 shot.......

Dyes might of been worth it if the great colors hadn't been made so common. For 25mil they should of been moodstoned to display a color w/tint based off your Karma/Fame whenever wearing/holding the dyed item.

25k points max for 1 use and 10 use for 150k points would still add up to 600k points for the 4 colors and to do a armor set (almost) would be about 10 uses so if each month 4 new colors you would have to collect 600k points thats a lot at the current rate it would be 100,000,000 not sure how many people can obtain that many points every month. and honestly the colors really are not that good those colors should have been the 5th year vet dye tub not those god awful colors we got....

Of course not. And far be it from you to insert nothing useful into a discussion about something that many perceive to be an issue, right?

Doesn't matter if it's a democracy. Paying customers are discussing something that they think is an issue. Let them discuss it. If you've got no opinion on it at all, bugger off.

As for me... I think 250,000 points for a single-use dye is as pointless as a 1 use dye per account as an olive branch for fubaring account management for three months and counting, so here's hoping a developer with a level head at BioMyth latches hold of this discussion and makes a reasonable change to satisfy the playerbase.

And yes, before you even post it, Flutter, we know: You're quite happy with how it is, and since you represent the entire playerbase, there isn't a change needed. The rest of us in reality, however, would like them to reconsider.

Yes it is, people vote with there actions. People just wont buy the Pigment for such a high cost.

There must be another bug in the system that they are expecting us to use to get them. Most of us have used up our points, 250k points is just mad and not worth it

IMO let it stand at 250k. While I know a majority of players with tons of points earned them some did use that exploit to earn points. If this will get the cheaters to burn off their points on dye then so be it.

I mean seriously. There is a vendor which has a number of each suits, numbers of bless deeds, and every other turn in item. It makes no sense that someone would take all their old collectables and trash them for millions upon millions of points and now still be saying "I have a million points still to spend LOL" in global. Just watch global as you now see the spam "Trading 5 bless deeds for "blah item". And while the item is rare when it is up for sale it normally runs in the 1.5 million range. You don't need to be the sharpest knife in the drawer to see the player does not value the turn in it cost to get those deeds to trade them for a 1.5 million rare. No one who has collected and saved items for the past 14 years would just trash 10's of thousands of collectables for 60+ bless deeds and now still have a "million points" to spend. No other reason than an exploit.

Anyhow, off my soapbox. Let them stand at 250k

And I agree about most using up points. I have just over 1,000 points left and I do not have anything I am willing to trash to get some dyes.

  17. blame this one on the people who post on uhall saying they have 10m points and more to trash. now they have something to buy.

Leave them as is. If you want them you'll buy them, if not then you wont. They are nice colours that you cant get elsewhere in the game (Unless you cheat I suppose) I prefer the purple one, dual colours are nice!

This may be true...time may tell.

However, being relatively gold poor, but point "middle class?" :)

I might be able to take my 2.5 million points, buy a bunch of dyes for someone and sell them for 20 mill each and finally get on "UO Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous". :)

Nope it's not. You can vote all you want here on Stratics but the game devs don't have to respond or even acknowledge it.

And the pigments are a gold sink.. leave the price alone.

But it does give all ya'll super wealthy people a chance to show off.. :)

Can you clear something up for me then. I mean no disrespect but seriously.. You claim to be gold poor but you now have 2.5 million points left to spend. The amount of old collectables and artifacts I trashed to reach about the million I spent was mindboggling. (I bought 2 beast suits, 1 fisher, 1 bard, both tapestries, a chest of drawers (wish I didn't buy that) and 1 of each robe) I trashed some seriously good stuff to buy those items. Even if you just trashed high end current artifacts like hunters headress you would have needed about 450 of the 5,500 point items to reach the 2.5 million points you claim to still have. You would have sold some or even just looted gold and not been considered poor. I would also have to assume you spent a bunch of points as it is not logical to think you obtained 2.5 million and bought nothing. And, why would anyone trash 2.5 million points worth of stuff without anything left to buy? The old collectables could be worth more next time so go ahead and save them. These scenerios just do not make sense.

I am not saying you cheated and I am sure you can clear this up but I have seen a number of people in your situation and if it looks like a duck (you know the saying). Again, you put that information out there and if its legit I am 100% sure you have a logical explanation that I would really like to hear.

I do not actively seek wealth in game, therefore I am relatiely poor. I would guess I have about 6-8 million in gold across my characters. This is about the most I have ever had, as I will see something sometimes that I want, so I spend a million here or there to get it. And I do loot whatever I find/kill. Even the stray mongbat that I accidently trample. And thank you to anyone who kills a champ and leaves the gold...makes me very happy.

That being said, i am sure I could be much better off if wealth was what I wanted in the game. I do enjoy helping people, expecially those I consider friends, so if I happen to get a drop i do plans to use immediately, my friends can have it to do with whatever they want (use, sell, display, whatever).

You might also call me a horder, I have an 18x18 with all of the storage increases, and I was down to 0 available storage (and most characters had almost maxed out banks as well). To further illustrate, do you know anyone else with 16K dragons blood? I don't even know what it is used for, but I loot it and drop it in my resource chest.

    Now down to the nitty-gritty.
After a couple days trashing small stuff and watching my points to ensure that tehre weren't any glitches I was going lose stuff on, the "festival of more storage" began. I started off with 76 or so blue crystals that have been gathering dust in one of my chests. That is a majority of my points right there. I also trashed a lot of those crystal balls I have had (I only trashed duplicates, but that was quite a few). And I trashed anything else I had (christmas deco and boxes, crystal and shadow stuff, those maps that drop in the dungeons that people leave laying around but I pick up, etc.)

As far as buying stuff, i bought a set of the sorcerer armor (always wanted one, but missed out before). i also bought a couple of sets of the jewelry. Thats it so far. I might get a tile set, and a sherry statue.

Until they just announced the new dyes, I was telling guildies and friends that if they wanted anything, let me know as they could have my points...Still can as a matter of fact, they can make better use of them than I could anyway.

    WELL.......................

Hopefully the devs will address the issue with the high points =250k points for a 1 shot dye?? so that would be like 1.5m points to do a 6 piece suit???

A lot of folks have expressed the same....so keep the bloody flames away for once............

Surely for 250k points we need at least 5 or 6 shots [10 would be ideal and a good balance]...so we can buy one dye and then do a full set of plate in the same colour????

Most folks will find it hard to make sooo many points especailly if the devs are gonna change the 4 colours every month???

a gold sink yes...but this would make the richest guy in UO poor very quick...

I would like to suggest a more happy mediumn.....
250k points for a 8 shot dye or a 10 shot etc etc
or 50k points for a one shot dye....
This would encourage people to try for the higher amount but give peeps the option of a cheaper one shot if they just wanted one for display.

    FINGERS CROSSED...........

So if they plan to keep the turn in perma..
Are they going to remove the items that are for sell now..like deeds and suits?

Also , wasent there a limit to how many points you can have on a char?
I know i had only 3.2 mill and could not go higher!

As for a gold sink? think not...some people may like the colors..
But the ones who will be the dyes will not do it for resell...unless its from them offline sites..

Since most have tons of gold in game as is..

If they saty single use then they should be no-more then 10K per..
And the devs if it is possible to go over 3 mill points on a char set them down to that if over...

People with 10 mill points? thats alot..

Anyone see this as the Dev's way of changing gold as the global currency? Can anyone else see Points Packages as being available on UO Stores? No need to be "Free to Play" when they start putting all the goodies on the Trade-in list and the only way to afford the items is grind or buy.

As to the Poll. 10-50k Points for individual doses and 150-250 for a multi use.

  30. It's not a game breaker, and gives no one an advantage over anyone else. If you don't like the cost, then don't chose the pigments.

Haha this. 25 million is way overpriced for one charge. I like the dyes and appreciate that they were added, but I'm not paying that much. I can get a crimson cincture and mace & shield reading glasses for that much.

How about 13 years of UO with 3 or more accounts open at all times and trading gifts every one of those years plus a bag full of the blue crystals at 25K points each. I threw away a Castle worth of items and then gave away the Castle to a returning Vet. I have spent over 7M and still have over 2M left and if I wanted to I could get another 9M+ just by turning in 761 old school bells at 12.5K per if I wanted too. Sorry some of us are bigger UO packrats then others.

And yes with your DUCK remark you are saying the only way a player could make this many points was to cheat, shame on you. I do not cheat and I know others that have lots of points that do not cheat.

Sorry you are so upset that some had a lot more then you did. Sorry that others have more gold then you also. Because others have more then you does not mean that they cheated to get it.

I was trying not to take the insinuation that I cheat too seriously.

If you save stuff over time, and don't mind tossing things, pts for clean-up were easy to come by.

  34. I don't understand the apparently widely held sentiment that dyes, of all things, need to be kept rare.

If they look good, and thus enhance the look of the game, don't make them virtually unobtainable for most players.

By this logic, the much maligned concept of pet dyes would be ok with people as long as they cost 250,000 points/25,000,000 gold? Polka-Dot dye would be ok too, and even sought after, just because it's rare, no matter how ridiculous it looks?

How about instead we just add all of these new dyes, like the Slate Blue that look so much nicer than most of what was already out there, as a new veteran reward dye tub?

Warpig, this is not an attack on you, and I love your Karma/color idea (even if it does remind me of a a certain Culture Club song). I just really don't think it matters if everyone has access to the same colors. There are already enough things in the game available purely as a status symbol. Something so basic as colors don't need to be one of them.

I am so tired of people ASSUMING that just because we had a lot of points that we cheated to get them. I have been waiting to have a reason to clean out 2 Castles and a Keep, all at max storage and all full. When I saw the list I said I am tossing all my old junk. I kept 1 maybe 2 full sets of certain things and tossed everything else. 1 Castle gone and traded (for free), 1 Castle with over 3K open storage and my Keep with almost 2K open storage. TY Devs for giving me a reason to toss all this stuff.

And on a better note I have seen prices of some of the stuff go up in price because people threw away a lot of the old gifts and there are fewer items out there for collectors.

  36. The idea of owning a castle is part of how you COULD look at the reason some are of the idea that the current asking price is too high. To dye a full 6 piece suit is a value of 150m. You could buy 150 castles (Placement cost; not talking about room to place it or buying from another player) for the sum to COLOR your suit... Can you really in anyway, have one good reason to even think that is ok?

Also if you had a castle full of the crystal essences @ 3000 x the turn in value of 25000, You get 75m.. You can not claim to have got so many points due to the very limit of storage. and then how would you know which item to stock in such a great quantity? But let us not derail this. We are talking about what you feel is a fair price and why.. not about who is cheating.

They clearly put those dyes up for that price to serve as a points-sink. A bunch of people whining that cookies should be free because they need to have one of everything or they'll die aren't going to change their minds.

I have no points and no junk left to turn in and don't care. You guys need to read between the lines and figure out WHY they're 250k before you ask them to lower it.

Ahh, that brings back memories of the lag protests... and smelly day-old armor.

It's just a color. Why should we pay through the nose for something that just makes the setting more attractive?

The cost is ridiculous. Especially when compared with the the armors available through the clean up.

  44. Absolutely 100% fair at 250k. You know why?
Because that is the price set. ARGH.

You want something elite. Dyish. Cool. Pay the dang money and stop bellyaching over price.

    Pay it or don't.

Lets just make everything 5 points.

Some stuff is expensive. That is how it should be. Buy it if you want but stop trying to change the price of something that is as silly as a dye.

You do realize nobody wants metallic dyed stuff because everyone can have it for free? Right.

    Think about it.

This is one topic I really don't care wither way. I have more dyes than I know what to do with as it is. Certainly don't need anymore, regardless of their color.

BUT I do like the option of having them available, because some people do like collecting them. So be it. Options are good.

The only way this poll is close to valid is if the most efficient way to gain points was to purchase with gold. I don't believe that's the case.

Well, I haven't been back long enough to get my hands on anything worth while to turn in, so I don't have any points.

That being said, is this pigment the only reward available to purchase with points? I mean it's nice to have a matching set of teal platemail and all, but I hardly see how it's a game changer. Personally, I'd rather have a cool item for my house or something.

Just saying... it's dye. Besides, if you make it too common then everyone is going to have your 'Lord Pinky's Teal Plate Mail of Magnificense' and then there would be complaints about that.....

Well the poll is sugesting 15% are happy with the high pice....obvouly this 15% have no points left to spend so dont want anyone to get the new dyes if they cant have them too....

Kinda leaves 70% want em more realistic priced lower or with more charges per pot...which is pretty huge margin....

guess 15% just dont give a damn....
