What would be the harm in letting people that were recently in combat and died, be able to walk back in a house after they have died?

This goes along the lines of dieing as an aggressor and getting the "Fleeing Combat" message, when trying to go through a moongate.

People ask for this to be fixed all the time. if you die, all timers should automatically be dropped. but meh, been like this for many many years, it'll be great if they... someday, fix this issue.

If a dev or anyone could come up with a possible reason why it shouldn't be changed I'd love to hear it.

I'm gonna guess it might have something to do with people always complaining about no penalty to death. People dying in fights and jumping right back in after a rez due to no need to go get new reagents, consumables, armor or weapons these days. Preventing people from leaving the field of battle is such a penalty to delay.

I got a few points to make, but I'm about to go to sleep so I'll just stick to the easiest one. There are plenty of templates out there that don't use any consumables. So they'd have 0 penalty while others have to suffer, that's not exactly fair.

Right, and they all have the timer across the board, no running into a house for a rez or through the moongate to the healers. Which is the penalty. Sure they still have the advantage with a rez from a guildmate or wandering healer, but that's not what the thread is about, it's "why is there a timer when I'm dead and can't go in a house or a gate". Well, it's to make you wait before rezing and jumping back in.

I'll put my 2 cents in here and answer this for you as painless as I can.
    Originally you could.

I can tell you now that any revert to the old ways will have what's left of the players who do pvp in fel will scream their heads off and tell the dev no or they will up and quit. Again this will never happen as we all know the reason why.

I'm not talking about people fighting inside of the house.

After combat, if you die, after you get res'd, I don't see why that person shouldn't be allowed to go back in the house and get consumables to get in the fight again. That would take the person out of the fight for approx 30 seconds to a minute - in a field fight that's more than enough time to turn a fight around while missing a team-mate.

If said person starts combat again after they are res'd then yea, they shouldn't be allowed back in a house.

    Seriously?
What's the big deal in waiting 2 minutes?
Who are you to talk about what rule/template is fair? If you don't like it you should simply play a non-consumable template instead of whining about it.

As far as pvp is concerned I have no problems at all having to wait a couple minutes after getting rezzed. And I play warriors that need the supplies in my house. It is a very minor penalty that is associated with dying. Sounds good to me. I even drop a nice stack of bandys on my front steps when I know im gonna be running around the gate awhile. If there is a lot of action or someone needs help I can sometimes just grab the bandys and jump back in until I get the rest of my supplies later.

Hrmmm, maybe the penalty was put into place just for people like yourself that obviously seem to want to die and get back into the battle only seconds later?
Why should the person that killed you even get time to loot your body lol? I would imagine auto-loot was also put into place just for you because dying is such an inconvenience to you.

Nail, head, hit, methinks. If someone doesn't want to suffer the penalty of being stuck outside a house for two minutes, then that person shouldn't initiate the fight. I've always welcomed the aggressor penalties, starting with the inability to recall. It's hard to believe it took until April 2000 for that to be put that in. Way back when, a group of reds might recall in, swing a couple of times each with their pre-patch heavies, realize they were outmatched, then recall back out.

I believe I already stated what the 'big deal' is in waiting 2 minutes. Die in a fight, res, get back to a house, resupply, and get back in the fight in a manner of seconds? Sounds feasible to me  Who am I to talk about what rule/template is fair? I stated that some people have to wait to get back in the fight and some don't depending on their template. I do play templates that don't use consumables, thank you for the suggestion. Actually, I play quite a variety of templates, and when it comes to stealth/ninjas in a field fight it's a bit ridiculous to wait 2 minutes to get back into a house after already dieing. It renders the person useless for 2 minutes, where as a mage (played by more than half of the pvp community) can just get right back into the fight.

Your solution to your template is to simply put bandages back on the porch so you can get back to fighting immediately. Why even bother doing that if it's not such a big deal to you to wait 2 minutes to get into your house?

Then don't start the fight on a template that can't handle it.

You are funny. You want to get killed and be back in every fight on every template in a matter of seconds. That is unrealistic and childish imo.
Based upon your own words in this thread you should be able to instigate a fight and after dying be able to get back to your body in seconds so that you can loot it before anyone else. That is exactly what your arguments are suggesting. You can try to deflect it by talking about specific templates but that is just plain ridiculous. The devs don't make rules based upon your specific template or the template of the month.

FYI, what I suggested to you was not a solution to anything as there was nothing you said that needed a solution. It was simply a suggestion based upon my own experience. I have no problems at all with any timers bud lol. Waiting a whole gigantic 2 minutes to get into my house after I instigate a fight is no problem at all to me.

    *shakes head*

What's childish is you are repeating yourself and not addressing anything I've stated.

Die in a fight, res, get back to a house, resupply, and get back in the fight in a manner of seconds? Sounds feasible to me

So you can keep repeating yourself, and I'll do the same until you come up with a valid argument.

I'll go ahead and address something you stated in a mature manner as I've done for this entire thread (unlike you.) Instigating a fight nowadays doesn't really mean much considering field any type of these fights going on are most likely field fights with groups of players. Just because someone 'flagged' another doesn't necessarily make them an aggressor to a field fight. Example: 3v3 and 2 more players join the fight. Someone's going to have to flag someone to initiate combat.

Off topic: is there even any pvp on Chessy, or are you just trolling threads?

Please answer plainly: do you not believe there should be a timeout penalty for initiating combat and losing?

    You are funny.

It sounds feasible to you why? What is the crux of your entire 2 minute ADD whinefest?

Because in case you haven't noticed, the Devs are siding with me darling and have no problems at all with you having to wait a whole gigantic 2 minutes after you started a fight lol.

Bottom Line: You are quite obviously a househugger that dies a lot and doesn't want to play by a 10 year old rule. Deal with it :)

Well, you'd be completely wrong =/
You'd know this if you played on any of the 4 shards I pvp on (including ATL.)
In 10 years, lots of changed, so there's nothing wrong with addressing this.
