What is "Terrible Hatchlings" under the Classic Page listing? Not sure if I've ever heard of that quest.

And, there is a guide for putting together a kit for doing classic quests (especially the Hag quest) on the Players Corner forum.

Also, for the classic quest page, it might be worth noting that each of the pre-ML basic character templates had their own associated Classic Quest, that can no longer be completed, and if one is active on a character, they must abandon it to start of those classic quests that still function.

I wasn't aware of quests pre-dating ML which no longer are offered. I did, however, cover the fact that only one quest may be undertaken at a time:
Terrible Hatchlings is a very basic quest which you can read about by following the link to it. I mention it because it uses that quest engine and must be taken into account because of that same 'one quest only' requirement.

I wish they did more with the old quest system (and let you have more than one at a time). They are still the best quests in the game.

    :(

Is that all for developing 2-3 different quest systems?

Were these the training quests for samurai, and thus maybe also ninja?

That would seem to be likely, thanks.

In AoS were quests for the Paladin, Blacksmith, Mage, Warrior and Necromancer, though I only ever did the ones for Paladin & Necro (I never started characters as the other classes). The Samurai & Ninja quests (and Terrible Hatchlings - never had actually heard it referred to as its proper name anymore, as most SE players did that non-repeatable quest the first week in-game), were added with SE.

You can still see a few relics of these old "new character" quests around.

The now non-functional teleporter in the ruins of Uzerraan's house in old Haven was a part of the Paladin quest, as was the flooded tunnel entrance nearby and the runes on the road heading past the ruins (led to the newbie training area for killing horde minions). Other areas were blasted to smithereens in the destruction of Haven (the Druid Grove, the newbie training area) or replased by New Haven (the treehouses and Haven Cemetary).

The area in Umbra up on the mountain behind the tailors was the start point for the Necromancer quest, and it took you to a crypt on the other side of the moat, the energy-fielded area in NE Luna, and the cave outside Luna. Don't know if it is still there, but the odd silver gate by the "well" was also part of the quest, as a paladin would come out that your newbie Necro would have to kill.

Other leftovers from that period are the Youthful Treasure Maps, the calling of Chronus scroll and a couple other things. Probably the most common relic are thousands of undead slayer weapons with 3 50% intensity properties (including the slayer), as the Paladin quest was the only source for new "double" and "triple" slayer weapons, after the first year of AoS (as a publish around 2004 or so removed the ability to craft doubles).

I found the introduction of the Old "New Player Experience" quests from 2001-2002. When AoS came out, the Paladin & Necro quests were added (Haven and Umbra, with the Necro quest requiring travel to Luna and back), and the self-contained Samurai & Ninja quests from the introduction of Samurai Empire.

It would appear that an artifact of the change from uo.com to uoherald.com format resulted in the dates for pre-AoS publish entries getting scrambled, as the older the newsid #, the older the purported date, yet most of the stuff related to changes between Publish 16 & AoS show up before the Publish 15 Patch notes. It would about take someone doing some serious internet time machine archaeology to figure out the true order of the stuff.
