    Citizens break out your scribe pens, blank scrolls, mortar and pestles! Welcome to the Spells, Rituals and Potions creation contest here on UOChesapeake stratics! The contest is simple and easy to do all you need is your imagination!

    We are looking for the most creative player written Spell, Ritual or Potion your mind can come up with. You may enter as many times as you wish but your entry must not be the same as any other entry. To submit your work for the contest, simply post it in a reply to this thread.

    Any Spells, Rituals and Potions that are entered will be added to the in-game Mage tower located in Kijustsu Anei Village and proper credit will be given to the writer. All entries will be viewable and useable by the public. By entering your work you give your consent for your work to be reproduced and reformatted in-game.

    Failure to be successful may cause fingers, hands, arms, legs or entire body to freeze. Failure to perform the chant correctly may result in small to catastrophic snow storm(s).

    (OOC) Once you perform the chant, place a tall snow pile on top of the small snow pile. If you wish for the spell to fail and create a side effect simply dye your leather armor a blue color to show frozen hands, legs etc. If you wish for your character to become completely frozen, use a vendor contract and dress the vendor in blue clothing. To create the look of a small to medium size snow storm, customize your house with the snow floor tiles. Use the Icicles from Christmas and place the Icicles on the walls of your house. One way to perform the spell wrong and create a small or medium snow storm is to change the power word Bet to Vas.

    Example Potion-

    Separation of power potion

    Potion is used to separate a mage or necromancer from their powers for a short period of time. Only able to be mixed with a mortar and pestle that is crafted by a blind seer. Alchemist must be grandmaster with Legendary Magery skills. Chant must be performed while mixing all ingredients together.

    Ok since no one else is taking a crack at it, I have one that would be useful in my RP storyline.

    Veil of Protection and Illusion​

    Uses: to create a shield of protection around an area such as a house, village or city. Size of area is inversely proportionate to strength of spell (meaning: the larger the area needed, the less powerful the spell will be). Intensity of spell can be enhanced via Mandrake Root collected only from the Fens of the Dead (south of the former town of Paws, the current location of the Citadel of the Fallen). Spellcaster can "key" the spell to recognize friend and repel foe; foes will see the "illusion" chosen by the spellcaster and friends will be allowed to pass safely through the viel into the protected area.

    An Tym -- "Negate Time"
    In Quas Ylem -- "Create Illusion Matter"
    Kal Vas Sanct Grav -- "Invoke Great Protection Field"

    Ingredients Required:
    Spider Silk
    Mandrake Root

    Bring syrup of ginseng to a simmer in a cauldron. Add a single strand of spider silk (note: if silk is harvested from Navrey Night-Eyes, the field will be able to reflect magical attacks and bind attackers). Toss in 5 whole dried mandrake roots and 10 drops of a tincture of nightshade. Grind garlic into paste in an obsidian mortar with a blackrock-carved pestle (be sure to perform this step away from an open flame). Add garlic paste to mixture and allow to simmer for an hour. Remove cauldron from fire and allow to cool. Once cooled, sprinkle around the perimeter of the area while chanting the words of power. Once the circle is closed the field will snap into place (note: this may cause a release of static energy which will result in a shock, tingly fingers and/or lightning strike).

    This spell/potion should only be done by a mage of Legendary skill with Grandmaster Alchemist recognition. Keying the field to differentiate between friend and foe is tricky but can be accomplished by using a petrified Eye of Medusa as a focus stone.
  4. This is a short list of spells for a mage to cast on a warrior/thrower/archer, attributed to the 7 elemental damage types in UO, able to be cast on nearby friendly players (like Arch Cure):

    Vas Consecrus Flam: Arch Fire Enchant: Mandrake Root, Spider Silk, Sulpherous Ash

    Vas Consecrus An Mani: Arch Cold Enchant: Mandrake Root, Spider Silk, Nightshade

    Vas Consecrus Corp Ort: Arch Energy Enchant: Mandrake Root, Spider Silk, Black Pearl

    Vas Consecrus Nox: Arch Poison Enchant: Nox Crystal, Mandrake Root, Spider Silk

    Vas Consecrus Por: Arch Physical Enchant: Mandrake Root, Spider Silk, Pig Iron

    The above 5 spells add up to 20% of your base damage to your damage output of the element named.

    Vas Consecrus Divinum: Arch Karma Enchant: Mandrake Root, Spider Silk, 10 tithing points

    Adds 20% of the caster's damage they would do with Holy Light to the recipients of the spell for the duration. This way evil characters can be enchanted with Good karma damage output temporarily, as they are not acting on their own (evil) but in the name of someone righteous, bypassing their own karma while under the effect.

    Vas Consecrus Sar: Arch Chaos Enchant: Grave Dust, Mandrake Root, Spider Silk

    An additional amount of damage is added to the enchanted player's damage output equal to 20% of their base damage. The element that damage type is attributed to goes by the same rules as any other Chaos weapon, such as a Boomstick.

    Here's example math behind these:
    My status bar says I do 100 damage. I enchant myself with Cold (20% of 100 = 20) and now do 120 damage (100 + 20 cold). My weapon is 100% fire, but now I temporarily do 100% fire, 20% cold (check Imps, they do 200% damage).

    I'm a Chiv/Arcanist/Necro/Mage, and I find it annoying that Enemy of One does not let my spells do additional damage, and the whole skill really only works for warriors. Therefore I suggest a few Priest-like spells able to be added into Chivalry.

    Vas Luminos: Smite: (5 tithing) Just as Holy Light does damage in an area, this spell only does damage to a single target.

    Vas Divinum Furis: Divine Retribution: (10 tithing) The paladin is temporarily enchanted with a damage & magic damage reflect bonus of up to 15%.

    Prostra Furis: Confessor's Mark: (10 tithing) Just like Enemy of One, but for mages.

    Divinum Prostra: Martyr's Voice: (25 tithing) If you die within the spell effect (90 secs), a wave of holy energy is unleashed, severely damaging very closeby enemies (1 tile), as the Divine seeks revenge for you.

    Spell Name: Dementia
    Casting the spell on another causes a temporary loss of memory that affects the ability to cast spells and wield weapons.

    In Wis Jux ( meaning cause knowledge harm)

    Ingredients Required:
    Mandrake Root, Garlic, and Spiders Silk

    Profession and Skill Level:
    Successful cast by Necromancers with legendary skill only. Attempts to cast Dementia by Necromancers of inferior skill will cause self memory impairment, which could be permanent.

    Spell Name: Wine to Blood
    Similar to create food except the spell will create sustenance for undead consumption; a bottle of blood.

    Sanguis Vita Es (meaning blood is life)

    Ingredients Required:
    Wine bottle (full), daemons blood

    Profession and Skill Level:
    Necromancers of any level are able to cast this spell to produce results in order to feed. Higher skilled Necromancers can expect the results to be of better quality and hunger satisfaction.

    I was asked to Choose between To people and came to the Conclusion that Jane D's Dementia spell win's I liked the fact it had consequences for failure that were quite high and that was a key factor in my choice.

    Personally, I liked that Jane D's spell created a use for legendary Necro.
