Hello, i was wondering if anyone knew the magic number for lore to control a dread 99% of the time at 120 taming?

Tried the calculators, but they weren't so accurate.

From the Stratics skill tables, with 120 taming, you would need 106 Lore for 99% control.

Well I know that I can get max control with 110/110, so it shouldn't be off too far. I've found dreads to be pretty fickle about control, meaning they are one pet I feed a lot lol.

  5. Dreadmares are scarce these days and very expensive to replace so..... No matter what I hear, I think its safe to sacrifice a few more points and go 120/120 and that way there is no risk. But thats just me unless you happen to have 60-100 mil laying around.

Ok, I'm curious, how are you judging when the numbers are off?

I just ran 120/106 through the calculator and through my own spreadsheet of the formula on the off-chance we had a bug somewhere. It comes out as 99% control in both. You could bump your lore to 107.1 so your lore skill is no longer below the pet taming difficulty for a dread, but the penalty isn't so harsh if you have lore < pet difficulty. If your taming is less than the pet's difficulty, THEN you'll get a hit from the skill bonus fairy, but lore is weighted more gently.

Generally I would say no lower than 112/112 as a bare minimum for a dread. Or 120/106 in your case. If you run 110/110 through the formula it tends to come out about the 85% mark.At least one of the calculators seems to fail to account for the difficulty modifier of 28 when your taming skill is lower than the pet difficulty. So it was saying 110/110 was fine when it really wasn't.

If in doubt, go for 120/110 - it'll also give you a welcome boost to your vet power and the extra stable space.

And if all of this sounds like total jibberish, or you're still wanting to check, I've copied the info from our lore page below. The Stratics calculator can be found here if you want to fiddle with it. It's fairly simple to drop the appropriate calculations into your own spreadsheet and check them if you want.

  7. Wayyyy too much noise. The safest bet is 120/120

Yes, 120/120 does give you the best control available, it would considering that's the highest skill cap you can have :)

I give additional info so a player can read up and make their own informed decisions. You're welcome to skip stuff you don't want to read though lol.
