Could the EA/Mythic Devs please return the UO radar map?

Could one of the EA/Mythic Devs please update us on the status of the UO radar map, and when it will once again be loaded with the 2D client profile?

I had read somewhere that this problem had been fixed. Now what I would like to know are the following:

    • Under what circumstances did this bug originally occur?
    • What fixes have the EA/Mythic Dev Team developed for this bug?
    • Have these fixes been tested and found to work?
    • If "yes" to the above, what patch/publish will roll these fixes out to the client and/or servers?
    • If "no" does anyone at EA/Mythic have the time to set up a special classic test client so that we may login to a test server set up to test the radar map fixes, and find out whether they are really fixed?

I would really like the return of the UO radar map to my classic client's profile information, if the problems with it have been fixed. If there are still problems with it, I would like a status update on what EA/Mythic are doing about it!

problem has not been fixed...people still crashing in that same area when they open there radar...if the radar was open apon start up?, they would have to say good bye to that char until they do have a fix...where is it posted that they fixed this 2d radar map crash issue?

  3. I'm also tired of having to constantly open the radar every time I log in. Lot of people complained about it, but I never did, I liked it. It was all I needed.

Maybe this is why you *truly* beta test something BEFORE releasing it? Of course, the testing done on the last publish was spectacular though, so for that, I thank you.

They posted that the desktop setting issue had been fixed. Which is about the same time that they turned off the UO radar map when you log in with a character.

BUT, they still have not explained why the radar map was the problem here, and they have not explained when or if they are going to fix the UO radar map properly.

    Thread I found about it:

    http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=159314

    UOHerald news article:

    http://www.uoherald.com/news/news.php?newsid=948

I'm still waiting for an answer from EA/Mythic as to when the UO radar map will return! I'm also tired of seeing fixes that consist of "oh this gump is the problem we'll turn it off and people will think we've fixed the bug" like this. If they really wanted to fix the UO radar map problem, they'd turn the radar map back on, preferably in a test version of the UO client and on a TC, and see if they can log what is causing the crash in the first place.

Where are they crashing when the radar map is open? Is it a specific place? A specific set of circumstances? It seems very odd that the radar map by itself would be a cause of these issues.

was tested and reported at the beginning of focus testing and during beta!, ive personally had it happen a few times and know of at least 3 people who had to delete there chars because they could not access them anymore!, once you are stuck in this crash! there is no getting out..everytime you log in with the char that has crashed in those areas ( bam) insta crash on log in over and over again...problem we have been told is! they just cant reproduce the crash on there end so untill they can! there is no fix for it, the alternative? make the radar closed apon log in so people who get the crash..can log back in and realise its there radar and get away ect...this problem has happend in the area surrounding the slasher of veils ( both sides of the virtue chamber).. and the tomb of kings....we know it has something to do with the radar because we tested it with supreem, we would run around totally fine without the radar open...as soon as you would hit the radar?....crash!, doesnt happen all the time mind you! but it does happen..
would you like them to put it back to the way it was and then have it suddenly happen to you on your main char?...never get to log in with that char again until they figure out the problem? lol....remember its been reported since the start of focus testing and still they cant reproduce it on there end, is not having the radar open when you log in that bad?? lmao
if it is....then,, lmao just wow hahaha

ALT-R then ALT-R again before you go hunting. Simple, isn't it?

Regarding your last paragraph, I've asked that it be tested in a TEST client on a TEST server set up for the test client to log in characters with. I can't understand where you think the person you're responding to is implying that they should turn the radar map back on for the production client.

Please elaborate further on where this discussion started getting to servers other than a test server?

    Obviously not.

I don't use the 2d client, well rarely anyway but my Radar was working just fine.

Are people seriously complaining about having to push ctrl-r to open it when they log in?

Yes, people are "complaining" about having to open up something that used to sit static on their desktop upon logout.

A lot of work went into allowing us to save our desktops as they are when we log out... now a small piece of that is broken. It'd be very nice to have back, especially since having the radar close itself is only a bandaid fix and doesn't really address the crash issue at all. It just prevents someone from getting stuck in a crash cycle.

So in other words, the devs fixed it for a time being, so that people can continue to play. Are probably working on a permanent fix, but in the meantime all people can do is whine about how its difficult to push ctrl-r? ...

    Patience much?

The radar works fine in the Enhanced Client. Maybe its a good chance for people to give some time to that client?

All I've seen so far is someone whining about how people are supposedly "whining." If you don't feel it needs a fix, that's fine, but you don't need to whine about people whining.
I'm sorry, but I don't think anyone is paying $12.99/month to exercise patience with bugs. And no one here was being particularly impatient. People want this feature returned, and they're checking up on it.
Thanks, but no. Not until the graphics have at least the same detail and definition as the 2D client; not until random, silly crashes stop occurring; not until the legacy backpack mode actually works; not until the cursor is fine tuned; not until items stop disappearing from grid mode and the only way to find them is to switch to list mode; not until they've fixed the innumerable bugs that currently exist with it.

I have hope for the EC, but I am definitely not using it in its current condition. I hear a friend on Vent during hunts saying, "I crashed." "I lost this." "I can't find that." And in order for some of the interface to be any good, people are having to load mods.

Sorry, but no. I'm not touching it again until it's patched again, and then, only long enough to make bug reports and get off of it unless they make some marked improvement in its performance.
