Crafting jewelry??

Not sure why it takes 10 of each rare gem to craft a piece of magical jewelry that has very poor mods on it. I'd love to be able to craft magical jewelry, but i believe it needs looked at, or enhanced. As it stands now you can kill some weaker spawn and get greater mods than the crafted jewelry. And the resources you waste on the jewelry is way to steep for the crap you get in return.

I'd love to see the Live Team go to Test with a bankbox filled with mining gems, and create 100 rings and bracelets of each type, and see for themselves that...

    a.) The mods suck.
b.) GM tag makes no difference.
c.) The loss of mining gems during a failed attempt are too large.

My main gripes. I'd love to see my miner/tinkerer being rewarded for his non scripting hours of mining effort to collect a stack of 10 rare mining gems, and not see it wasted.

The crafting changes they've recently made were great. I'd love to see them continue it for the better, for all crafting skills (<3 for Tinkerers, pwetty pwease!)

I have done a LOT of magic jewelry crafting and I can tell you that eventually you will get something godly however the fail rate even at 100 skill with a +25 talisman is way to high and the amount of resources needed to craft anything worth keeping is insane.

I have to agree the mods given need to be reworked pretty much from scratch.

What I would like to see are specific mods per gem type not as it is now but more like other resources. You can get great mods the way things are but you are only guaranteed certain mods all the rest are totally random for jewelry this is a bad thing.

I would like to see almost every mod from each type guaranteed but the intensities random. Depending on the type maybe have 1 or more random attributes like white pearl could be totally random giving a rare chance to make something crazy but other types would guarantee all but one to 3 properties are not random useless crap.

I think if this were done we would see better stuff for the amount of time and gold that goes into it.

Yup. Its dumb. At very least you should be able to get max intensities on the mods. I mean, for an honest player 10 gems is nothing to sneeze at time wise, at least give us the ability to make good stuff.

And for me, I just wish thats how ALL crafting worked. Magic ingredients take time to find, but don't require uber pvm, and can make magic items without runics, with a chance of rolling max intensities.

  5. While it's true that SOME of the jewels you craft are very bad, you also see the 1 3 ring with 50 EP and 10 Hit Chance Increase and 10 Defense Chance increase.... Which is an absurdly good and valuable ring.

So, my point? Maybe do what we did with runic sewing kits and hammers, raise the minimum intensities possible. Right now it is pretty random.

  6. What would be fun would be to choose your mods on armor/jewels/weapons.

Too precise, would be bad. I'll tell you why, it would hurt the crafters (which a lot of them play this game over others, SIMPLY for the crafting system) we want to help the crafters they are our friends.

If I had to burn ONLY 1 val hammer EVER to get the 15 pieces I wanted.... Why would I ever buy another? =( Same with a barbed kit, gems, and or fletching/carp kits.

I think a the boost I suggested would be most logical, then again I suggested it so I would think that wouldn't I?

Well if it cost one rare gem per attempt, as oppose to 10, not to mention ingots, and regular gems that are also used, I think that would be a good start. I'd have to mine for a week non stop to be able to get 10 rare gems of the same type. I also like crafting because I can leave my makers mark, which on the magical jewelry the exceptional rate to mark items also needs tweaked and adjusted because right now it's to low.

I really think they need to make the gems rather common for the simple fact that crafting jewelry with mods requires rare resources where all other resources for crafting things are far more common want to craft armor weapons bows all take common resources that are WAY easier to obtain.

There should be some type of monster we can hunt to get rare gems or something...

Have to agree, the magic jewellery is just not worth crafting, yes you 'may' on a rare, rare occasion get a good one, however 99.9% of what you get is worse than stuff you can pick up off a mongbat.

I bought 50 of each time of gem at auction the other week, and used them all to craft jewelry with.

    'Keeper' pieces = 0

90% of it I wouldn't bother even picking up as loot if it was on a corpse. The other 10% was at 'best' average, nothing that I would wear, but something a newbie might find helpful.

It was an expensive 'exercise' in wasting gems. Due to failure rates with the thing taking the 'rare' gems rather than wasting the 'normal' gems or ingots in the 'fail', on some I only had enough to make 3 bits out of 50 instead of 5 for 5 x 10 rare gems.

I would like to see the gems stay 'rare' but at least give us something good to craft that is worth the time and ingredients.

Now if it only costed one rare gem, you could have crafted 50 pieces of jewelry, and maybe get 1-2 good pieces out of 50.

I bought 2500 blue diamonds once crafted them all up and got a single piece that was relative to the cost a 1/3 ring with 20 enhance pots nightsight and 10 LRC on it. not a bad piece by any means barely worth the cost though but I was happy with it.

Sadly that ring was lost when my account got hacked [IMG]

  14. How about choose your mods and no repairs.

I'm sure 99.X% of pvp quality armor comes from scripters, not true crafters. It's a matter of logistics of a ******** rng system.

  15. I honestly dont know why people are complaining over the properties on magic jewels...like any crafted item you have the possibility of 5 properties all at max intensity from crafting an item without the use of a runic tool.

Not worth it? 40 dmg increase 10 hci 7 dex 8 poison on a ring not worth it? how about 5 ssi 1/3 9 hci ring? For bracelets how about a 1/3 with 2 MR 10 def?

If you are having problems crafting magic jewels did you consider that perhaps your talisman is junk? Are you even using a tally WITH 25/25+ bonus?

Don't cry nerf just because the RNG is kicking you in the teeth...all of us players are affected by this loved to be hated factor. Go dig up 10 more gems and try again!!!

Make sure you read before posting with ignorance...

I used a +25 skill talisman with gm tinkering and burned through TONS of gems around 25m in resources and never got half of that money back in value of jewelry that I made not even close. The best I got was the ring I mentioned above.

You only get those insane pieces after you have burned through 30m+ worth of gems and none of those pieces are worth 30m+ when you can loot better stuff from boss monsters in doom with a luck suit on.

The luck bump to looted jewelry provides better stuff faster and at almost no cost.

The only bonus to crafting is the different mods you cannot get from a drop such as 2MR on a bracelet up to 40DI 2HP regen or the SSI. But those mods still come at a price your losing something else on the piece to have them so is it really so uber?

We are saying the problem is that 99% of the things you do make from all those gems you toss in the trash because they aren't usable at all not because they aren't stacked to the sky with mods.

We want something actually worth keeping between the insane pieces so we can at least make back a portion of the cost just like you can with anything else you craft.

I think they should make the gems something you use to enhance an existing piece to add a special property with a decent chance to break what you are enhancing [IMG]

My feeling is that that jewelry crafting is a long-term sink for gems. They aren't really something for the average player ... but rather that slim hope of a great piece will give people with gold to burn something to aim for. I've burnt some for little more than novelty decorations, I've sold some for far more than I would have paid for them. As much as I'd like to craft some jewelry for myself, I can't help but think they're serving a useful purpose as it is.

Maybe the answer is salvage with like 50% gem return???

    You aren't kidding...

Tinkering jewelry is a waste as it is.

my apologies over you taking my comment personally. If you have issues with the high cost of gems try mining them, if you arent mining enough try that *special* place (effusion...and mine with an elf for added effectiveness.)

Regardless of your results getting gemstones takes patience...LOTs of patience. If you go into burning them with no expectations you have less chance of being disappointed when you get jack and s**t.

Either way, there are uses that can be found with the worst of items. For instance a MR 2 bracelet for making scrolls, a SSI ring for training, and so on. Each peice of jewelry has a chance at a *special* property, only obtainable on craftable peices. That alone makes even low end peices worth their weight in gold.

Not a bad idea... I like that. Would make all these miners happy yes?
