I was there when it happened, and I got to see the friends' list before it was finally cleared, and in fact I took a screenshot of it.

I want to clarify for everyone, now, of some things that would NOT have prevented this from happening to you.

#1. If you think that your guild's own policy of clearing its lists when people leave would have helped, and feel safe for that reason, that feeling of safety is WRONG.

This was NOT an issue of the GH list not having been cleared after someone left. The ordering of the list tells you who was inserted most recently, and it tells the story. This was NOT IT, put that out of your mind

In fact XV does happen to clear its lists when people leave but if it did or did not, it wouldn't have made a difference in this case.

#2. If you're of the opinion that your guild is more selective in its recruitment than XV, and think that this would have protected your guild from having this happen, you're mistaken.

The person on the list was not a member of the guild at ANY level of membership!

#3. This was NOT an issue of the guild leaders not being around enough. This theft was deliberately executed by actual "thieves in the night", at like 3 AM on a weekday morning.

It was pure, blind luck that I happened to literally walk into them as they were leading the pack horse in. I was helping someone with a late night spellweaving quest, and we decided to meet at the guildhouse so I could help him carry supplies into Sanctuary. Meeting at the GH was not even my first choice of place, but it was his most convenient rune on that char.

Are the GM and co-owned people of your guild available 24/7, or do they sleep too?

Point in summary: there not being enough information to positively determine what went wrong does not mean that it's smart to chalk it up to something that you'd expect. Lots of other things can be logically ruled out but ruling things out still does not point to exactly what went wrong.

The real and most important thing to take away from this is: this disreputable guild of cowards gained access to the XV GH by a means that was not prevented by the normal security measures all experienced guilds will use! Then, to their own discredit and shame, they showed up at 3 in the morning with a pack horse.

By contrast, if by some strange twist, XV's leadership asked me to participate in a guild-approved looting of the BC guildhouse, I would refuse and quit the guild on the spot (well okay I'd recall out first). Or even, if I learned afterward that they had participated in such a thing, I would do the same. Presumably, the better members of BC/UOD/TDR/whatever hold the same degree of integrity.

That's the real difference between these invaders and what I like to think most of the 'real' Great Lakes participants are like. These invaders make themselves distinct and different through their aims and values. Let's not give them an edge by making assumptions as to their means of operation.

The guy that accessed evil to your guild house was initially guilded XV...thats how he got friended. He dropped tag when they rolled in to loot. Its no mystery what happened. Just ask them. As a matter of fact he was in front of your guild house trying to get reguilded on another charecter yesterday. More then likely he prob got guilded again.

All of this boils down to recruitment and what ever idiot who was co owned to the house that friended him. Chances are he is in vent with you right now and you dont even know who it is. You banned him from your guild house but did you bann him from your vent? Nope because once again the break down in your system was to mass recruit and you dont know who is who.

I VERY much appreciate your putting what you'd heard from them here. All I've gotten from them myself was them calling us names, which I responded to with my usual, extremely foul language.

    Something that should be noted:

I checked the UO guild database for the unauthorized friended person's name very shortly after this happened. Even though I had seen the person turn on the guild tag for the disreputable guild in the middle of the incident, I still wanted to see what the guild database would say, since it tends to lag behind.

There was no entry for the person at that time - meaning, the person was unguilded at its most recent update.

If this person claims that they were in XV right up until the last minute, this exact detail seems to not have been possible. The uo.com guild database would have showed it. This doesn't mean that the basic outline of what this person said couldn't have happened, but that particular detail doesn't jive.

The means by which the person became *friended* remains non-understood. So very few people had the ability to friend someone, and none of them are reckless with it! I've talked to people and worked to clarify this for myself, and that's what it comes down to. People are wondering if a last target malfunctioned at this point, that's how puzzling that part of it is.

Only one thing is going to fix your problem now and thats to clear the stone, vent, and boards.

I agree that it's a good idea. For me, that's independent of the idea that a co-owner made a mistake or did something dumb. I found out yesterday that the disreputable guild infiltrated and started killing and stealing from members of another guild from the inside. There could very well be a psycho confidence trickster here somewhere, considering the whole situation.

The last thread was locked because everyone thinks everyone cheats......must be if you cant beat them right? Everyone loves to hate Malidor for some reason. Every time that dude post on a thread it gets locked.

that 'dude' usually posts 4-5 times in a row, its irritating and usually pointless. I know if I was booted from a guild for the reasons Mal was, there`d be know way I`d even show my face on these boards. However, that doesn`t stop him and he comes here crying that BC never had a rule about using illegal programs, like he was singled-out, when in fact he posted screenshots of the ittp. I dont feel a bit sorry for Mal, but I do feel sorry for all the Mal sympathizers. Any decent guild would have done the same.

  6. Did i not lock the last thread due to this being a topic that did not need to continue...?? i think so .
