Ok, here is a clue for the dev team on events....

Putting monsters out with 50,000 hp that give one special item that can be 'jumped' at the last minute by someone with word of death is not the best idea for an event.

I mean, its tedious, boring and leads to tons of greifing. There isn't one thing challenging about this event.

I killed one Golem and was so bored by it - I haven't gone back.

Here is how you should do events:

1 - Add varied levels of spawns (Remember the spawn with mystic weapons and Corporals, Leutenants and Generals? 100x better)

2 - Instead of random drops that favor kill jumpers and the like - make monsters easier to kill quickly so you can get solo kills in if you want - and give POINTS out for kills like the Ophid/Bane invasion.

3 - Make points redeemable for rewards. No killing 20 monsters to try to collect a set - kill for 20,000 points and trade points for a set.

This would put everyone on equal footing, there would be no penalty for 'helping' each other and you could see ACTUAL progress to your goal.

Instead you have people whinning at each other about kill stealing, and generally a non-event. Magencia is basically dead most of the day b/c people don't care about this event. A few people sit in boats and toss RC's and hide but other than that - its a non-event.

    Once again - Event FAIL.

Must agree though I have not had a prob with kill thiefs i do find the golems to be a tedious endevor! The invasions with varied spawn are much better and point collection is a much cleaner method of reward! the golems are a pain and groups are discouraged by the way its setup! I have done 3 golems thus far an I intend on doing some more though i am not sure i want to they take an age to solo and group play is out on this event Nice work dev's this one is a STINKER!

I"m not sure if I concur on the pint trade-in, but otherwise very good suggestions.

Actually i was thinking something along the same lines but using the doom guantlet system the weakest monsters get a rating of 1 and the hardest get a rating that co-incides with whatever the percentage chance of getting item is per golem etc
that way it would allow all game styles to do the invasions from a simple old fashion warrior template to the latest uber gimped template for doing dmg

The whole system needs to be rethought, but frankly no one seems to see a benefit to the armor sets other than presumably spring cleaning turnins. I remember when we were told planer swords and sheilds would have a use... the only use they had was for points in the last spring cleaning.

I only helped do one, agreed, boring, I won't go back either

fight naked, or better yet, use GM made and normally obtainable items only, see if That challenges you.

I like the idea of either a point/trade in system, or a doom gauntlet system Wither one would be a lot better than the current system.

I wish the Devs, would remember this the next time they create an event with drops.

great idea. i am not even bothering with the event and the logic of this idea is sound. I am surprised that the dealing of drops and rewards always seems to recieve the least thought.

  9. Getting the last hit does not guarantee the drop.

    Insignificant participation invalidates your feedback.

I have helped kill over 100 of them on Atlantic using 4 different characters. I had looting rights every single time and have yet to get my first piece of armor.

Not sure if last hit gets the item every time because I've certain that I got the kill shot with WOD and did't get it. I'm predicting that either two months after the event, the Devs release a much simplier way of collecting the sets (ie token or special turn in event) and upset those people who did the event, or just before they turn off the event they mention something about the set that makes them more desirable and you will have people complaining about needing more time because they did't bother doing the event for the past x number of months.

The General - Lieutenant etc invasions gave a sense of accomplishment, encouraged people to work together, and it was extremely challenging. It let us "Push Back The Line" and eventually could win a town. Even a town that was fully infested.

The Ophid Invasion was another VERY fun event that had people working together much more, had clear lines of Win/Lose and again, that sense of accomplishment, particularly when playing an MMOG is the heart of it, in my opinion.

Anyway...I agree wholeheartedly. I hope next time an event is created that we can get some better delineated and more group compelling types of combat, rather than a one thousand 50,000 hp monsters, and what appears to be no real point in trying to repel invaders that just keep attacking until they take the town, and give no way (at least yet) to take back said town.

I don't need to spend hours there to provide feedback. The fact that I was bored after 30 min in the event is feedback enough.

Events should 'draw you in' not turn off 95% of the players.

How do I know this? You can go to Magincia on GL during peak hours (one of the most populated US shards) and count less than 10 people doing blackrock golems.

Valuable feedback for the dev team. A good event would lure the shard to participate.

^i dont know whats going on here, epic RNG failure or something else strange.

5-6 of us did around 8-10 of them the other day and had 2 or so guys get most of them but i got 1, even tho i was pretty sure i was the top damager or among them many times.

people arent sure of the looting rights, or how the new armor even works or could be worked into a suit, so if just doing it for the sake of doing it with friends/guildmate gets someone bent they should probably just move on.

There should be a point system for every type of artifact or drop. For example: A lifebar that you can pull or open up similar to a quest list, where you open a menu.

    Doom Gauntlet
    XXXXX

    Minor Artifacts
    XXXXXX

    Current Event Drops
    XXXXXXXX

This way the player can get a visual of exactly when their next drop will be and how much they have earned so far.

So, what happens is, you base it off of damage. Say, you need to do 10,000 hit points or 100,000, once you've maxed out, you're given an extra die that will roll, say, 1 out of 5 and when you roll the 5, the item goes in the pack or drops on the loot. This would be an earned item and this would reset the points to zero.

Also, there would be a chance for you to receive the normal random drop. So, you might get 3 or 4 items before your point system maxes out. This way there is a guarantee of what you've earned and you don't have people saying, "That something is harder to do for them or unfair."

  16. The fact that you were bored is irrelavent.

The event did draw you in you went to it.

If there are 10 people at the event then the event has drawn people to it.

Half of them are my guildmates.

I was there but I just got bored of it. And getting kills stolen after taking 15 minutes to get one down solo.

I hope with all the so called lack of thought for this new event that all there time was spent fixing things that need fixing. Lots of people that want balance on the pvp end of this game have posted quite a few good ideas, and well we've yet to get any response from anyone on anything. It's kind of sickening that actual good ideas can be brought up with NO response from anyone (Dev wise you'd think they'd be interested in specifics....). Makes one feel hopeless in the regards that anyone is paying attention to these boards or with the game play in general.

    Another data point...

    * 3pm EST

    * Walk around Magincia. Not one single person killing blackrocks. Island infested and NO ONE is doing event.

    * Event FAIL.

I'm not one to agree with this type of post but he's actually very accurate here. Point systems for ANYTHING is always a good thing. It rewards work over time, not random.scrub getting loot rights and hitting the lottery.

I gave up trying to get the armor.

ONE PIECE drops randomly, regardless how much damage you do or your luck levels.

For a near boss level encounter requiring multiple people to kill, unless you are a godly sampire or tamer, the loot system is crap. Several pieces of the armor should drop like artifacts in attacker’s pack. (just one piece)

That way, multiple people don't feel like they are getting screwed 90% of the time.

A point system would be decent to... With an NPC to 'buy' the armor from with points. That way you could get just the pieces you wanted.

Blackrock golem section of the arc = epic fail.

  22. You can kill them solo very easily and not slowly (around 10 minutes per) with the right template and/or the use of a boat...

To be fair, it isn't the only crappy system in the game. Renowned mini-champ spawns seem to have a problem with people coming in at the end.

    ...

Gotta agree with the Ophidian Invasion being much better executed...

    1. The progression of invading creatures made it a LOT mroe engaging as you felt some form of progression. The current invasions progression is basically "kill the randomly spawning stuff for a while, check the town crier, continue killing/checking until you "win" or "lose".

    2. The mixed loot table for special items: Vanq and Mystic weapons on occasion, common items such as rations, uncommon items such as journals and orders, rare items such as the artifact drops on the Berserkers and ULTRA RARE items (Inavlis's)

    3. The "Path to Vistory" allowed the players to persue a more logical system that allowed them to clear one area then press forward to another (or if they just wanted to keep killing, pick an area not in the direct path). Also seemed like the spawn was spread out better, didn't have everything in small clumps.

As for the Blackrock Golems dropping one random piece, this is where the Shadowlords in Dark Moonglow did a better job as they gave out 3 of the cloaks directly to the top three damagers with looting rights.

Yes we now have the Loyalty system that has some good potential (especially if that means we can get some of the supposedly "intelligent" non-human creatures to act that way instead of as no more than a sewer rat with different stats, but right now I have to agree that the engagement of the current event for me is not all that high compared to previous events of the same magnitude.

Yes, but iirc Draconi created the doc for that invasion... which might explain a lot.

from all the (lack of) posts about this part of the event now that it's been contained to one area, I was starting to think it was over. So I wonder, how many are still playing in this part?

If it's crap, just don't play that part, simple. I think they take a look now and then to see how things are - THEY KNOW
