Devs: Any new bug fixes? It's been ages.

I just logged into SA after taking a break. Personally, to me, it still had major work before I could find it a viable client (feel free to disagree, just stating MY outlook on it).

So... all the bug reports I sent in, pretty glaring ones, still seem to exist. Now, you may say 'well more than just YOU play', but these are bug reports I know others have sent in as well, even via stratics.

So, if devs read this... is the EC still going to be worked on? I have heard many promises about how they have wanted to invest time to 'get it right'... but it has been SEVERAL months out of the gate so to speak and work on the EC, outwardly, is practically nothing. There are even things that were supposed to have been fixed (ie blinking items for one) that still are broke.

I'm incredibly disappointed. I WANT a new client... but I also would prefer one that worked better to me (and looked better) than the legacy client we have now. I have used some of the mods others have made, and many are very nice... but in the end, to me in the current way the EC works and looks overall, it's akin to 'lipstick on a pig'.

So... where do we stand on the EC?

Well they just did the Christmas Publish and added in the global chat system (as a somewhat working system this time).

So HOPEFULLY once the holidays get out of the way they'll put some effort into the EC.

Only issue I'm seeing right now that bothers me in that regard is that there is little mention in the list of topics for tomorrow night's chat that even refers to the EC.

It's always one long stretch of holidays, the last quarter of the year.

The deafening silence on EC has been going on twice that time or more. I think this client should be an ongoing mission, not something "we'll get to when things quieten down", because things never do. There needs to be ongoing progress or, again, we stagnate. Forward momentum is often much harder to start than keep going, so we pause at our peril.

Something that would have been nice as a "holiday update" is having the creatures on the costumes fixed for the EC. Some of the EC creatures are just awful, some are placeholder sprites, and some don't even bear a passing resemblance to their Classic counterparts. Homogenising the look, or even general description, of both Classic and Enhanced creatures would go a long way toward helping client migration. Making the EC version look better kind of went out the window when they killed the KR graphics.

Yeah the enhanced client and all it features, raining in the snow, always raining in the snow, raining in the dungeon, raining in the house, raining everywhere!

What is the Enhanced Client now? A placeholder? Or maybe an Easteregg? Or is it only a knockoff the old Third Dawn client. Oldstyle enviroment and Gumps with 3d models, sounds similar.

At this point, I wish it was 3D models.. the sprites just look awful zoomed in and they're never going to improve that, ever. How disheartening, especially after seeing the full quality art of KR. I googled images from KR the other day.. it's so much nicer than the compromise we have now.

In the HoC last night, Supreem did say that Axel (BTeng) is working on a bug fix patch for the next publish, so we'll see how that pans out (hoefully MUCH more than just global chat fixes because THAT would **** me off to no end to see the bug fixes going to a brand new system and NOT addressing bugs that have been present all along and as far back as KR).

Also, I put a couple of questions to a source from here and LS who will be talking with GrimmOmen soon. I have put the bug in her ear so that our desire for higher resolution artwork is not forgotten. He might have some choice reactions in my direction, but I'll be damned if I'm letting the issue go :D

Lucitus, the snow even with the rain "problem" is a step further than they ever did for 3d or KR... neither of which ever got Winter/Christmas snow to begin with.

I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for a bug fix patch, they've burned the new client(s) too many times.

I'd wager less than 1/4th of the growing list of issues in hawkeye_pike's thread will be addressed. Especially since GrimmOmen said that the garland issue would be fixed in the holiday patch...

I've been in an I'll believe it when I see it mode for quite a while now.

Quite frankly as much as I WANT the UO client to be updated periodically (I mean really, we should be getting a brand new client technologically speaking every 5 or 6 years or so), this habit of "get the client 3/4th of the way done and somewhat playable then back burner it indefinitely while it withers on the vine" has gotten past old.

And it's been done with EVERY client so far. It's even done with ingame events and fiction to a sickening degree IMO as well.

I WANT a GOOD Patchurday for the EC... but I'll believe we're getting one when I see it.

Please don't get me started on the ingame fiction... Damn, too late.. :D

Massive plot holes, threads left dangling for YEARS... And we didn't get most of the events we were supposed to for the end of the Warriors of Destiny plotline, hence the rushed and confused feeling at the end.

Exodus was never properly wrapped up.. The Meer, that storyline just faded out.. The FoA needs to be dealt with once and for all, as they are more annoying than threatening. Inu needs to be wrapped up on many levels.

Ilshenar and Tokuno have decent history, but no plotlines that ever concluded.

If it weren't for the EMs and their thankless work (especially on GL - We've had weekly events since March now), UO fiction would be lifeless. Nothing but an item grind.

But this is an issue with UO, regardless of client. The EC needs to be finished, and finished soon. Perpetual beta is just an excuse for laziness.

(And again, I must say: If it weren't for the modders, the EC would be stagnant.)
