DEVS! Character transfer is a paid service - but items get lost in transit.

    This is a paid service - and we expect the luggage to come with us. When you take a airplane and loose your luggage is gone, u get it replaced.

    As this is we dont get help, nor we get it replaced.

    For the bug with mag rubble getting lost you could do a char lookup and replace the items - can you plz do that with items lost on xfer too`?

    I lost so much on xfer last night im tempting to stop play - my intention was to give me a head start on a new server. Ending up with a huge loss instead - and the worst is I paid for this service.

    2 things.

    1. You didn't think that 2 character transfer threads in the last ten threads was enough?
    2. "Lose" not "Loose". (Sorry, personal pet peeve, has nothing to do with the issue)

    Maybe he's upset (as he/she should be) and figures (rightly so) that wording the issue correctly will get an answer no matter how many threads he has to start or post in.

    The devs should address this issue ASAP.
    This isn't the first time this has happened and they usually shut down xfers as soon as they finally get it through their heads that something really IS wrong.

    Yes im upset - and yes I made a new thread to clearify the problem in the thread.

    I know its 2 other treads on this - but none is directly telling the issue in the thread name. And yes I also started another thread last night, but i thought this thread name would clerify the issue by the thread name.

    I'm also waiting for an answer to the afore-mentioned issue. I'd like to transfer a character, but won't until I know it's safe for all my belongings.

    You said this happened last night. You should wait at least 2 days attempting to contact them through the proper channels (email, not forums) before worrying that your stuff won't be replaced.

    If this is your argument you will never see your stuff because airlines don't replace lost items and you are lucky to even be compensated for it.

    This is EA you're talking about. What is this mythical proper channels you speak of? Besides, he did detail all that he had done to resolve it. In the end the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing, but will surely point to the other to fix it.

    For the airline trip it was YOUR luggage.

    For the shard trip it was EA's pixels. They were never yours.

    JC - I treid contact EA on proper channels, they told me to contact a GM. I did so, I also sent a bug report to uobugs.

    And I dont see why I should wait few days for them to replace it before I try get help. What I do try is the channels I can try in - and this is one of the ways to get their attention, and also warn you other folks that it is risky to xfer chars atm.

    Perhaps we should enlist Dave Carroll, the composer and singer of "United Breaks Guitars"

    to produce a song entitled: "EA loses our pixels." I am sure that UO community members could collaborate on an appropriate video.

    BTW the song worked--eventually United did replace the guitar.

    Airlines compensate you for lost luggage, I can't imagine they go to the store and buy clothing that matches what they lost. That would convert to a coupon or something here, not the replacement of your items.

    My guess is that they didn't tighten the screws well enough on the bottom of the transfer crate, and the items fell out as they were flying between servers. All they have to do is search the area between the servers and they will find the stuff. How hard could it be? :gee:

    I can inform you that the Dev's are looking into it now - and they still need more information. But at least they are doing something with it.

    Thats what insurance is for (above comment)LOL...There is no way you can compare this thread to an Airline. This is someone who just wants a slither and some other pricey items that he just doesnt have...Buddy you didnt mention that your list has anything that was not of value missing...

    No, cuz i didnt xfer much that didnt have value. And I got the translog and sent it to mesanna.

    And no, im not after a free slither - i found the slither, but i still miss a lot of good stuff and many vet rewards. It will take me years to rebuild this as i cant afford to buy it back for a long time.

    I just hope that they can compare the shadow backup of my char when it xfer from cats and the first backup it took on europe and items is already gone in the backup list. Or - that its the packdown script that failed, she got my translog to compare the item list.

    If I wanted something for free, id try some scam tricks - it wont be given here at least.

    The TOO funny part is you actually think UO and EA are perfect all the time. Yeah it couldn't actually be an error on a companies part... must be someone trying to scam the system. There are better systems to scam, ones with actual payouts, its very likely that he wont get his items back even if his claim is real. Its just how UO works.

    Well I did not say they are perfect ALL the time, but on the other side of the coin ive done multiple transfers without a problem.

    Agreed though he wont get any items back even if it is real...Smart cookie you!

    Yep, and i would not consider post if it wasnt real the problems i got. I dont think I get items replaced - but if i kept quiet and rest did, the bug would keep going on. So we speak out...and when its bad we shout out.

    But - i might be lucky since its a shard x-fer. They got logs what i did lift with and what i land with. Just hope my lucky star it got lost in the air so they can see when they x the logs that i didnt get it.

    Its uo - right, but its also programming. And with shadow backup, its possible to cross reference the item list.

    To everyone who doesnt think this is a real problem, you should try some transfers. While buying and selling rares I have xfered over 100 times, while most are fine, not all are. I have lost many items, if I had to put a value on them all it would me well over 400m. I had a pack llama get lost once, it was loaded with a bag of checks (124mil).

    One problem I did find was when your redress yourself after a xfer if you dont place the item in the right spot on your paperdoll it will drop to the ground.

    If you do loose an item, dont bother with a gm. They wont help. BTW I have sent all the details of my own problems to UObugs. I did get an email once saying they were looking in to the problem. That was like 2 years ago.

    Anyhow goodluck getting your stuff back....you will need it!!

    GMs dont replace lost stuff.. period, need to go higher

    but like tom said, good luck.. you will indeed need it.

    Im aware of the problem dressing your paperdoll when xfer. What actually seems the problem is that the backpacks i moved to my backpack - is emty. They was filled with stuff.

    What I do not know is where in the transit they got lost. But, mesenna got my translog and she can go in read the status on my x-fer and what items got delivered on euro. Hopefully for me, its lost before i landed on euro and packed out.

    And - its not only me that has this problem. Its a few other posts on the boards regarding this - but the one I know of is Hardy and he also xfer to europe. So - I cant tell if its a shard problem or a xfer problem. That is up to devs to figure out. They got the info they want, and if they need more they ask I guess.

    I just hope this solves out good. Or I pray for that...:confused:

    First off, if you know a process is screwed up, why are you paying for it before it's fixed?

    Secondly, as stated, you don't own a thing in this game.

    Thirdly, if this transfer thing is important to you, (and others obviously), the forums isn't the place to resolve it. Emails are weak too, even the customer support, if it still exists, is weak sauce. Call corporate, demand answers......but don't go throwing real life dollars on intangible objects when you know it's messed up.

    Would you get on a plane if you knew there was a better than 60% chance of your luggage being lost? Heck no, who in their right mind would.

    I was never one to believe in this transfer bs anyways, I know what's what.
    Bottom line, I don't feel sorry for any of you who lost stuff.

    That it could be consider as fraud. Okay before ya'll go gettin your panties in a bunch let me `esplain.

    Okay you go to the UO Code Store and buy a transfer token with you credit card. There on the website it explains what exactly the code is suppost to do. However since the items in you backpack, bankbox and/or packie ain't making it. You paid for a service and only got half. So there for you could file a dispute with you credit card company. Okay granted you'd only get the purchase price of the code back. If you use American Expess like my sister and I do the headache they'd give them would be plenty of payback. :stir:

    Its why we are a community, if it dont save me - it will maybe save others from my mistakes. Is same we teach our kids, but a kid wont learn from other burned fingers...but maybe they do here...

    Email? Call EA? Hell ye, I tried to call EA - i got a answering machine told me for half day that the phone is closed. They used to have a tech support, right now i dont know where it is.

    So - post here, make devs read it as they monitor the forums. It is refered as the official fourms and their communication channel. So what is not more right that post it here so the devs read it, if you get hold of EA you get a reseptionist and i doubt she put you through to the dev team.

    Mesanna came back today to me, and i provided her extra info she wanted.

    I really hope this make them solve it - and spare other peoples for the black hole.

    I got a friend that had same happend to him, and for me its a huge backstep.

    I wonder if you made use of "all follow me" before you clicked your *ticket*. It sucks that you lost items, however most times item loss occurs it is due to user error...and not due to the token or EA.

    As long i get back the rewards and major items in game i lost im happy...the rest i can rebuild...
