This would be cool but under a different skill set. I dont really think of werewolves as undead.
I have a teenage daughter and enough Twilight in my life already.
I like it.
well necros already have a horrific beast form, no need for a werewolf really.
what i'd like to see is the devs give a boost to horrific beast, right now it doesn't have much going for it, especially since you can't cast spells with it. seems like it's only worth is impressing young players. horrific beast should give swing speed increase like 25%, and also regenerate stamina too. scale the abilities with total necro and spirit speak skills too.
vamp form should have some bonus for spirit speak and high necro skill, higher necromancy should allow for higher health leeching, and spirit speak under vampirism should heal double when near a corpse.
the vampire bat familiar is pathetic, let the vamp bat familiar do bleed attacks, and the bleed attacks heal the caster at full value. that would be awesome.
Allow werewolves to run at mounted speed like gargoyles. Extra damage from silver. Nightsight, etc. Make it like vampiric embrace only werewolf form, etc.
Just a few ideas.
I agree vampires should be able to life leech on spells to some extent. *cackles*
Start working, breathers.
Agree with these ideas. Keep Necro fresh.
Im all for werewolves, but I think it should be a disease that you get from some rare monsters (a werewolf) that spawns like once a day in a random place. It should turn you red, you can only use wrestling (no spells, specials or weapons), but you get some bite/claw special attacks, and give you hp drain unless you gorge yourself on a human corpse every so long, but gives you nice stat boosts. Wears off once a day passes.
Can only become one once, and the more you become one the stronger you get. Within reason of course.
And for the love of god, don't have them be called Lycans.
I'm happy with my Necro having Vampire Form just the way it is. I love having a decent poison resist against the poison field spells and I always found it really useful at the Tok Champ against Serado.
Vampires are the undead and fall within the sphere of Necromancy.
Werewolves arent undead they merely suffer from Lycanthropy.
UO's definition of a necromancer.
I think a werewolf would best be catergerized under a necromancy spell, breathers.
Revise the Vampiric Embrace spell too, please. *cackles*
You be Tommy Lee Jones and i'll be a Vampire, breather. *cackles*
Extra damage from silver? You mean we throw silver coins at them and use the TOTIII dye as some kind of explosion pot?
hmm, should've known this wasn't a serious thread...
anyways, anyone knows that werewolves would only change when either of the moons are full, and when there's a double full moon, you become some golden werebeast like in alter beast.
I think by silver the OP means the original undead weapons, which were called silver, hehe. Oldies still refer to undead as silver.
Aminia and I, Lycanthropy of Chesapeake, disagree with lycanthropes having vampiric embrace qualities. Werewolves have nothing to do with necro, and would not like to be slapped with vampiric traits. That's like saying a elf should have the same attributes as a human.
I think a disease would be interesting. "It came from Dagger Isle..."
Also, lycanthropy is foremost like melancholy. They are actual "diseases" of the mind. In the case of lycanthropy, it is a mental disorder by which the sufferer believes him or herself to be a wolf.
Breather, I never said anywhere in my post that i want the same traits on a werewolf as a vampire. I'm trying to get werewolves in the game with minimum work for the dev's. Please use your common sense to what i'm trying to do because the dev's are not gonna use alot of effort to bring them into the game and werewolves would be best grouped with necromancy. I'm trying to help werewolves out but honestly vampires are here to stay, let's just hope the devs even bring up the idea of werewolves. (never gonna happen) *cackles*
We've already got werewolves in the game. Her name is Armenia.
Silver Etched mace count?
Ahh...that is what we call a super saiyan.
You mean a human or elf, with no special traits or disadvantages, breather. *cackles*
Connor is a vamp. Vamps don't breathe. Werewolves do.
lol, blond hair and blue eye superbeings. and who said that the japanese weren't subtle in their nazi iconography.
still, lol super saiyans. i can just imagine the fanboys in-game.
If your talking to me, read my signature. *cackles*
I have sigs hidden because Stratics has enough problems with ads at the top of the page without adding all the other crap people put in their sigs.
That's pretty ironic since you have a sig too. *cackles*
However they added something like this, how about actual werewolves - ala Dires - with pack instincts that actually work. mild transformation of bitten character on some random basis for short periods of time ... like Polymorph.
Make the horrific beast form not quite so HORRIFFIC! Its too big and ugly, make it slightly smaller and less cartoony.
Also add skeleton form and zombie form!
Example: Skeleton form.
+10 physical resist
-10 fire resist
+5 cold resist
Immunity to bleed.
Give more forms, they are great for RP
Anyone uses horrific beast form for Anything? Except training...
i proposed some good changes for horrific beast, maybe i should start a thread for necromancy suggestions.
i still vote for the golden werebeast at dual full moons!
Thats funny lol
Maybe just change up the artwork on horrific beast, since none use it and make it werewolf form with new traits and negatives? *cackles*
Ummm...Your wrong, In Medieval Europe those executed on fear of being lycanthropes namely Werewolves were always cremated. Why? Because it was believe they would return as Vampires, the Greeks held the superstition into the 19th century, and well they'd know since the source of the term Lycanthrope or Lycanthropy in general is a word that has it's origins in the name of King Lycaon of Arcadia, who was cursed by Zeus to transform into a blood thirsty wolf for trying to fool the god and disprove his divinity by serving his (Lycaon's) own dismembered son as a course of a meal to the visiting god.
The ties between Werewolves and Vampires is very well defined by tradition.
Now if you wanted to get into Kitsunetsuki (The Japanese version of a Werewolf) that would be different as any change in appearance would be the results of the being possessed by the spirit of a Kitsune and not true lycanthropy, and could be cured with an exorcisim.
I can use Google too .
Her name is Aminia. She has beautiful canines and rather extreme mood swings. Although, I imagine living in the cold for all eternity has to make one bitter.
Honestly, I stopped reading after you began with those words. However, I'm sure your point was valid and you are most likely informed on the subject.
I see "lycanthropy" as a mystic's spell rather than a necromancy tie-in, perhaps a use of both of the skills. However, I can understand the thread OP's viewpoint and purpose. Ninjitsu is not quite satisfying enough, hehe, although, I do believe no one wanted UO to follow Diablo II after it came out, and perhaps there was a buffer as a result.
Personally, I've always wanted Werewolves to take the place of the horrific beast form, they'd move at mounted speed, have a health regeneration boost, probably a DI and dex bonus maybe a stamina regain, but would have large weaknesses. Undead slayer vulnerablity, some more stuff that i never cared to think about. Why bother thinking it entirely through with numbers and what weaknesses when you're suggestion is going to be kicked down by people who have nothing better to do than argue and resist any change or, god forbid, some extra life breathed into the skills. Plus why would the devs choose something I want added?
For those old enough to remember, we had been asking for Necro for years, as soon as we found the "Bad Circle" in our spell books. If enthusiasts continue to ask for werewolves, it will eventually surface.
We never did get that doomsday spell, other than blackrock, and I have to confess I was upset when Necro came out as a new skill and not an additional 9th circle for mages (although most necros ended up supplementing mages early on, before the vampiric dexxer became so popular).
I'd much prefer WereGoats.
The ba-aa-aa-aad and the beautiful.
But if they add were-forms, I'd want them to be non-spelled. Base them on Felucca rising and setting and time them accordingly. That way others would know when to not be near a Were.
Of course, there might be special potions and certain activities that could trigger were-ness.
Return being the operative word. There are any number of origin stories for vampires, and the accepted norm is to have been alive, then dying albeit temporarily, then returning from the dead (hence undead). Necros have a wolf familiar and through that the ability to tame wolves. That's enough of a link without having to model anything more on ancient Greece. Next we'll have pederasty as a skill specialisation.
Ninjas can do wolf form if we want to role-play it up, but I suspect this is more about a necro skill boost than adding another avenue of RP. No reason why a necro or anyone else can't also have ninjitsu for the wolf form and sacrifice spellcasting ability (which would be in character for a werewolf, by most lore).
Not really, seeing as I don't have any of the crap others have in their sigs, such as the dragon eggs, which slow down page loading, which was the reason I stated for not having them turned on to begin with.
*cackles* My best advice to you breather is cancel your subscription to dial-up and get Cable or DSL. *cackles*
Your very wrong breather, this is very much about RP. Get rid of worthless Horrific Beast and replace it with werewolf form.
Not too mention i run vampiric embrace non stop so it wouldn't enhance my play i'm doing it since we have vampires then surely we should have werewolves.
A new drinking game, re-read this thread and every time Snake Eyes says "*cackles*" or "breather", drink a shot.
Some advice though, call 911 before you start and tell them you are about to give yourself alcohol poisoning.
I have 3.0 DSL thanks. It works just fine.
horrific beast--have the form greatly increase health regen, and also multiply the effects of focus by a % of combined necromancy and spiritspeak. give the form 20% swing speed increase naturally (can be combined with equipment SSI), and have it multiply strength damage modifier by a % of combined necromancy and spiritspeak, instead of just damage increase.
lich form--give the form double effectiveness with spirit speak's healing when near a corpse. a high % of combined necromancy and spirit speak will allow the lich form to harvest mana from a corpse along with health when using spiritspeak (at 20% effectiveness). lich form should multiply the intelligence spell damage modifier by a % of combined necromancy and spiritspeak.
vamp form--scale the life leech ability with spirit speak, like the wraith form's mana leech ability. allow bleed attacks to leech 100% damage to health. spirit speak creates 'vial of blood' akin the healing stone spell, which act like greater heal potions but have a timer upon creation.
In our guild fiction, we've been wrestling with the whole vampirism and lycanothropy recently. Vampires are undead, yet it seems to be a diseased undead state that is passed on with the bite. So too with Lycanthropy, though in our guild fiction we thought to make it a result of druid experimentation where druids were trying to basically strengthen wolf form (wolf form on steroids or adrenaline like Bruce Banner did . Anyway, based on this, I'd like to see lycanthropy be a part of spellweaving were it to be added, but this is just my humble opinion.
With my best bugged eyed expression, I say There wolf, There castle. No one will probably get that but ah well it was a funny line at one time.
If you ask for Bella next.. I'm gonna vomit =/
I was pretty sure it was green eyes.
