DEVS: Question about weapon durability...

    Was it intended for casting spells to rapidly decrease the durability of your weapon? Not only have we noticed withering at spawns now causes durability to drop (almost insanely fast actually) but it seems all weapons are now losing durability faster than before SA. My archer had to stop using his lightweight short last night when the durability went from 110/110 to 0/107 last night at ONE SPAWN. Its not just withering either, all spell casting is causing this, its just very apparent with withering because of the frequency of the use at spawns.

    I can understand if this was intended for IMBUED weapons (not that I agree with it, but I will accept it), but for normal weapons to be experiencing this is disconcerting. I don't recall seeing anything about this mentioned in the patch notes either.

    I's the slimes that cause weaon damage, on taking damage.

    Last I heard, if a weapon was Spell Channeling, it didn't take the damage, at least for melee weapons.

    I have noticed this too... Not just with slimes, but with all other monsters that I normally fight... All my weapons seem to be loosing durability at an insanly high rate since SA. Its to the point where I almost cant even farm enough resources to replace the weapon before it breaks. This really needs to be looked at.

    Yup. My necro uses a Staff of Pyros and it was from 200 dur to 0 in no time at all. Thats not right.....

    At least it can be repaired indefinitely if it's not imbued. I was thinking that with 255 durability to start, there wouldn't be much difference between "forever" and "the day that item breaks from repairing" for imbued items.

    The durability loss from spells definitely sounds buggy though.

    I haven't been fighting slimes, I've been fighting in the abyss and at SA champ spawns and training characters. All weapons are losing durability at an extraordinary rate.

    see your neighborhood Acme Blacksmith Shop freguently for armor/weapon repairs. Repairs done cheaply. Ahh, the return of the local blacksmithy. It is about time.

    You know - I'm a blacksmith first and foremost and think that is a stupid comment.
    No one is going to turn over their artifact to a smith at the local forge and if they do - no one ever pays for repairs.

    Please don't speak on topics you know nothing about. This is not a good thing for blacksmiths.

    I was doing to Destard champ and between level 1 and 2 my weapon went down over 100 pts of durability with my necro.
    That makes it IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE A SPAWN with a necro and a single weapon.

    I'm all for things getting used up - but no way you should have to bring 2-3 insured weapons to a spawn to complete it.

    Its too fast.
    Its a bug.
    Please fix it.

    ive noticed this too, and no its not cool..
    i took my archer to do a couple lord oaks champs and during the course of about 2500 bolts my nearly 200 durability heavy xbow was down to 0. that's almost losing 1 pt of durability a shot.

    this should really get looked into..

    yes you can just go out and get them repaired, but they should last at least a few days.
     
  10. Actually, I hope this stays. Or even icreases.

    Greater wear.... IMO is a good thing.

    SA has put UO on a good track. I hope it builds up speed.
     
  11. Well isnt that 1 point per 8 bolts but whose counting.

    I think my point is 2500 shots is a lot and it should take a weapon down to full repair.

    If it were like 200 shots, Id complain.

    Not being able to complete a spawn or mini-spawn in the Abyss is a problem and it needs to be fixed, not increased. :thumbdown:

    excuse me? i had to stop in the middle of a lord oaks spawn to run to the bank and repair my bow??

    this is defiantly NOT a good thing..

    what happens when im doing another champ spawn where i have to run all the way out of t2a or abyss to repair a bow to run back??

    yes i counted wrong sorry, but 2500 shots is nothing to an archer.
    my swords man can swing his sword way more then 2500 times and still be close to full durability.

    Not just mage weapons... this is happening to all of my weapons across the board. This really is too much, I could see if they wanted to up it a little... but this is just insane, it really does need to be taken back... a lot!

    I was killing miasma with a soul seeker earlier, it hit 0, but I don't know what it started at or how long I was there (I think I filled 4 unravel bags completely with loot each time, then back to house and repeat), but after it hit 0 it seemed pretty normal.

    Maybe im the only one but i have 2 thoughts on this;

    1) It aint that bad, just need to make sure your weapons are regularly repaired and fortified...its called maintenance. This will help artificers tremendously and for that i think its good...even if unintended.

    2) I haven't noticed the slightest difference! I have done maybe 10 of both the new spawns, countless T2A spawns/despise and none of my weapons on any of my chars(save the soulseeker i forgot to unequip between despises and began whirlwinding slimes :() have dropped to 0 durability. I have even switched the same -20 14DCI mage weapon between necros, last check it was still mid 50's

    This new feature Is extremely annoying and hopefully it is a bug and not intended. It seems like everyother spell causes 1 duribility to go away.
     
  21. Carry two bows.
    How many shots did you get off?
    1000 hacks of sword will dull it.
    1000 arrows should wear the bow.
