ok I've taken almost a year off came back a few days. Decidied to go down to Destard. Got there and this dragon totally destroyed me. Now usually I ca kill them with minimal problem. Did they change them while I was gone?

Oh yeah, last Thursday, they added a greater dragon which is pretty much a normal dragon, but takes up 5 slots if you tame it and is on some pretty heavy duty steroids.

Glad to see a player back in the game. [IMG]

I died twice in just a couple minutes to one ... as did another in the 4-some. Steroids is understatement with these puppies. Area peacers can prolly be a big help.

Mind you, not all the dragons are greater dragons. In my experience, one of the Destard dragons is a greater and the rest seemed to be regulars, so you can continue to pick on the dragon plebs.

Paladin enemy of one spell can reveal the difference, greaters don't hilight the same as regular dragons and visa versa.

I personally hope we will start seeing more critters get a bit tougher to kill.

Well you need to capitalize that one word "BIT"

There is a huge difference between tweaking up a dragon to make it a BIT toughe, and then making the super dragons that are there now. Just like the spiders, they supercharged them into creatures you don't hunt anymore, but keep away from.

Making them super strong makes hunting them worthless. The risk vs reward isn't there. They had to lower the skill of the dread spiders because they made them way to hard, and it really showed in the champ spawn. Sure, it took away the farmers, but it made them creature to avoid, not hunt. Same with the super dragons. They aren't for hunting (cept maybe with other pets), but are there to avoid. And just like the spider champs, the dragon champ is basically worthless now.

[/ QUOTE ] Exactly. Welcome to Ultima Tamer Online. Advanced character token plus taming ring/bracelet ftw.

They nerfed Dread Spiders again, now they're weaker than they originally were before they started messing with them. 2-3 Bites from a trained Cu Sidhe and a Dread Spider drops dead. Few hits with a Arachnid or Spider Slayer and they drop dead too. Got a Arachnid Spawn in Ilsh up to Dread Spiders/Terathan Matriarchs by myself on my Samurai/Swordsman when killing Paragons for Chocolate Ingredients. Paragon Dread Spiders weren't too much of a problem either. I was using Whirlwind with Blaze of Death to kill off large chunks of the spawn, and a Arachnid Slayer Blackthorn's Kryss against Paragons.

  11. I was playing less and less because of bag of sending.
I checked board and saw them talking about that greater dragon.
So I go to see if I can tame it.
I enter Destard. First dragon, one screen away from the entrance tells me I have no chance to peace it. I have 115 music and 104 peace + slayer instrument... another reason to hate powerscrolls...
Ok I found the bugger. It cast lame spells and I'm like ok not so hard. I area peace, but it immediately retargets me. Then it runs after me faster than I expected and take a hit. Bam! 62 dmg. I start running away but Bam! I'm dead.
Greaaat, not for me yet I guess... so I come back to recover corpse. A dragon was at the entrance, and immediately targeted me even if it was fighting another player. I run in and out a few time, make an attempt to run by the side but the room is full of dragons, my corpse camped and I die again. Second attempt I finally reach my corpse and run away, dodge dragons, luckily cast a few Cure and Heal spells and run out of Destard.

    Waw! That was fun! NOT.
I knew devs had problem with game design, and unfortunately they strike again. Destard spawn was made heavier a while ago. Now with the greater dragon it's litterally a gank squad waiting for easy prey at entrance spot.
Really tough dragons is nice. That's what dragons are supposed to be after all. But a bit of level design must be done to make it interresting...

I'm bored of powerscrolls and needed 120 skills. From the starting it was stupid :
"- Look I finally mastered Musicianship, I'm at 100%, I can use it without a fail.
    - Ok but I'm even better, I know Musicianship at 120%!"
Sounds like kids senseless brag, but heh to have a game of uber-pwnzage, we certainly needed 120%, artifact of the deadly dead, etc.
I'm bored. I'm gonna have to get rid of a nice skill, Herding, to have enough room to become uber enough.

Shall I become a colourful semi-god with Armour of Touch-me-not, Pink Glasses of All-is-nice, Ring and Bracelet of Don't-nerf-me and a Grindmaster, the famous unique weapon everybody has?

    Not a good day.

I'd love to see the return of groups of warriors in there working together and x-healing just to kill a dragon heh. Destard was way too easy fot too long.

If you want to go vs the big draggies in smaller groups or solo, the fire temple is great. It's much easier when you can pull them off on their own, and you get 2 greater and 2 norms in there. One in the temple building, the other in the outer corner.

BTW if you want a pet draggy, I've got a couple of spares [IMG]

Sorry [IMG]...but your post gave me a chuckle hehehehe....

    Yea, you missed sumthin [IMG]

    mmmmmmmmm dragons

  14. That's very nice. I was thinking of posting something on Europa boards to make a group or something to go and tame one.
While I think taking a group of warriors to tackle dragons is my original vision of UO, it's hard to do it now. Only a few players are used to make pick-up parties, and they are doing Melisande and stuff.

I just want to say that this implementation is really clumsy. The problem of mobs camping the entrance of dungeon is not new and now that's particularily annoying. Maybe something can be done to give UO a feeling of fantasy again, but I think it must be more than a tweak here and there on a creature or another. Also it's very nice for tamers, if I get one I may be able to try high-end PvE without having to become an elf [IMG]

Frankly, that Destard spawn needs some attention. And of course, give us Bag of Sending back pwease devs!

PS: I think if something can be done about auto-target of characters teleporting in aggro range, or resurrecting in aggro range, that will help a lot in many situations.

62 Damage from a Claw Attack? Here's some advice, take off the LRC Suit or Luck Suit, and throw on a Resist Suit, and carry a Reg Bag. That's what i do, get hit for 40s damage with Claws and 60 damage from Firebreath of a full health Great Wyrm. Plus the suit also has 45% DCI on it. The Great Wyrms have the old Daemon AI where they lock on most thing's that run, even if they're already attacking something. When they're casting spells, just use Mini-Heals, there Eval is low, when they hit you with a Claw/Bite use a Greater Heal, if they start to breathe fire, ready a Greater Heal and use it on yourself after the Firebreath hits.

Fought a Blackrock Infected Great Wyrm in Destard a couple of days ago, had to get on my Tamer/Mage and have my trained Great Wyrm tank it while some Archers fired at it. Ran across a Paragon Great Wyrm in Ilsh, tried to use my Fully Trained Hiryu on it to tank, Hiryu was taking 101 Damage from the Great Wyrms Claws/Bite, even though he has 65% Physical Resist. Ended up having to run away and rez the Hiryu.

  16. Yeah, Paragon Bard Crunchers must be pretty nasty. That makes me wonder, are those spawning in Champ Spawns? That would be mad. But I assume you found the beast there, didn't you?

I have a nice GM suit, better than a lot of luck/lrc suits, but yeah I guess I'd need a resist suit. But not only!
Maybe it was breath damage and claw finished me. It was rather confusing, I don't remember well.
