    That would be the price of Gold ingots and crystalline blackrock falling. 20 minutes of killing these golden elementals and I already have over 6000 golden ingots and 30 CB. Simply replaced parry with mining on my sampire template. With the forge being right there I can smelt right from the corpses. Collect about 3000 ingots send to bank via bag of sending. This should also effect the prices on copper runics since with bribing getting a 20 exceptional gold BOD should be a cake walk.

    Of course, if the spawn were bronze, golden and agapite ones, I'd love it even more. :p

    Ok so in about an hour I have been able to accumulate over 18000 gold ingots. That's a pretty staggering number by itself. How about this number: 45215. That's the amount of points that those ingots are worth in the turn in system.

    Yeah I saw that on test as was really confused. At least take the forges out. Make people walk.

    That's exactly what I was thinking. The current setup would be way too easy to script/farm unattended

    Then again a fire beetle puts us right back at square one.

    True. They should really either remove them or make new creatures with no ore on them.

    Actually I think slowing the respawn rate would be the best solution. Right now they almost insta-spawn.

    I remember years ago in Central Ilshenar, by the Exodus Dungeon there are some huts. Years ago around those huts spawned Dull Copper, Gold and Verite Elementals. Those elementals were eventually replaced with Earth Elementals for the same concern as with these new Gold Elementals. If this spawn is considered ok by the devs then I would like to see the Verite Elementals put back in Ilshenar.

    Yes can you also fix it that centaurs no longer drop arrows.
    Also that all lizard type creatures don't have hides.
    Almost forgot about Shame the mix ore drop there should be removed, it may cut into some peoples sales.

    Please get over it guys, if so worried don't buy from anyone and get them yourself.
    But also having the a forge next to it is kind of a brain dead move..

    As for fire beetle, it will be first thing taged by the ele.

    Yeah, instant respawn in a small area, with a forge ready, 30 seconds from guard zone. As for it attacking your beetle thats nonsense. A) stand between the beetle and the spawn, and it will never be targeted B) If it somehow gets targeted you can just mount it, kill ele, repeat.

    Total lack of forethought or a big "who cares" to miners.

    Not only does this greatly devalue ingots for sale, it also devalues clean up items (40k points an hour, blows away any current method by tens of thousands of points) and it's also a super easy route to maxxed town loyalty.

    Terrible idea.

    If they could slow the spawn down drastically it would be fine, but I don't think they can do that different parts of the same area.

    I see nothing wrong with the design. Let people have the gold ingots and enjoy it. This is a nice change.

    Which is good... I have a fully maxed trained fire beetle and it drops both eles with bit of healing. :) I might move mining to my warrior with an ele slayer and just use the forges there, though, for quicker kills.

    Miners have always looked for easier ways to get ingots. That's why the boat mining wall was so popular.

    Slowing the spawn would decrease the point built up. Instead I would like to see either 1 fixed earth elem and the other rotating up to val or simply remove the ore.

    I LOVED that spot (down in the lower left corner from the dungeon just below the lava area with the fire elems and just above the passway that went to Borgthorn's castle area). Now the easiest way that I've been getting ingots is to have 20+ ore carts and running Fel Cove with a fire beetle and a mine/smelt macro in EC.

    I don't particularly care for the dungeon at all. It seems to undermine a lot of thought put into so many other systems and old events. Tired of farming peerless keys in hope of getting that rare crimmy? A bit put out with RNG mining? Did you miss out on the Halloween events/quests, TOT, Ranger/Warden of the abyss? Have you only turned in 60,000 bucklers in community collections? Need some more clean up points? Well the wait is over! Come to Blackthorne's basement! Our newest one stop shop for all your most desired trinkets. Here you can enjoy browsing the interwebs or reading a book while your character sits stationary for hours upon hours in a virtually risk free fish-in-a-barrel shoot out!

    To balance things out I think the other systems need to be more rewarding.

    Make mining locations static again. It seems they've been trying to make up for RNG mining for years. But it all involves the same thing: Killing critters for do-dads to turn in at elixir quests. Killing beasties for dungeon points. Killing elementals for ore/imbuing mats. Killing pirate/merchant ships for cargo. I appreciate the effort... go ahead and leave all that stuff in. Just make ore/wood spawns statics again. Maybe give gargoyles the racial ability to get more bang for their buck using garg pixaxes (or the ability to craft them).

    Remove resources from community collections and clean up. We see what scripting does here don't we? If I cant find a use for 10,000,000 ash boards or 80,000 plain ole bucklers then what the heck are these NPCs doing with them? How many foot stools does one elf really need?

    Maybe up the drop rates on peerless? Re-introduce these old quests in some form or another... T-Maps leading to treasure chests that actually have treasure! Devs created a vet reward to hold t-maps that folks don't want to dig up, and we loved them for saving us the lock downs! Oh my.. I don't know...

    I do like the rewards are in different styles of clothing and the like. Really really like that... maybe in time... everyone wont be wearing a robe. Thank you for that.

    Even if miners are fine with this, the rest still stands. Its too easy to get too much that can throw two big system out of whack.

    Slowing the spawn drastically would help, but again, I don't know if they can alter just part of the spawn. I don't recall ever seeing a spot where there were 2 different spawn speeds on the same server. I could be forgetting an area though.

    I went there last night and the insta spawn is too fast, faster than I can even loot and smelt. I would not mind the spawn slowed down to 45 seconds between each kill. That way those that want the elementals can still use them, but they will be a more manageable speed.

    I agree with slowing the spawning speed of those elementals. They spawn way too fast, which means you get gold ingots really fast.
    I spent some 20 minutes there and got with almost 6K ingots to my name. Lovely, but I would rather have a slower spawn there.
    And maybe a random ore type from shadow to agapite/verite.

    Shadow would put an end to the AFK greater dragon "mining".

    It isn't a lot. Honest miners tend to keep what they mine and it never enters into circulation. I know this because I have had many conversations with many miners over the years. Of course, I am talking about the people who have mined for the past ten years, or more, and enjoy to just simply log on and mine. Non-miners won't spend months farming the ore because they like to do other things. Once the newness wears off, they will stop until they need more. Generally speaking, of course.

    How is that not a lot? It would take DAYS of mining to get as many gold ingots in one hour at this spot. Even script mining could not touch that number in an hours time. I don't even think you could script mine 20k ingots of any kind in an hour. It absolutely -IS- a lot.

    As for what "honest miners" do making blanket statements like that is dismissive. I also personally know people who mine to sell the ingots. I used to mine and sell ingots (and other self acquired resources), its been a while but...

    I also honestly can't see this spot not being camped indefinitely. Because there will always be people who want clean up items either personally or to sell, and no other method of amassing points even comes remotely close to this spot, not to mention any who wants to up town loyalty.

    It simply makes things too easy, to the point that using any other method to amass points in those systems now seems a bit silly.

    With one day (5 hours) of camping that spot you could have any clean up item, or max your loyalty in any town. One day.

    Why am I the only one who thinks thats crazy?

    The only saving grace is that only one person can do it at a time...

    It's not 20k an hour. More along the lines of 5-8k gold ingots an hour which is still a boat load. I pulled in approximately 80k over the course of 2 days.

    It's a nice feature but definitely a little over the top in the volume of ingots the gold elementals can produce when being farmed in perpetuity.

    Double the Hit Points and reduce the spawn rate may not be a bad idea.

    The needs for crafters for gold ingots is not that high to justify the spawn. Now turn in points is another matter. Unless your doing some bank or house cleaning and find some old holiday or event items your only going to get a couple of paint dyes or jewels to sell. This is a nice spawn. They're having no clue on the game or how to take informative post as not some kind of whining will most likely get a change.

    If they had a clue on what we do in the game and/or wanted to make crafters happy. They would of put some enraged dull copper elementals in there with a 25 ore drop. Only the 10n &15N gold small BODs fall into the high damand BOD reward. The PoF. Pretty much all the gold large BODs rewards blow. Faster to let the fanatics grind for vendors and put better use of time hunting and just buying BOD rewards. Not a rolling market for 120smith PS. And with reforging and imbuing who really wants to play the high runic RNG of creating desired gear? Items crafted with runics should have their durability raised the higher the runic used. I don't know about others burning a val hammer. I find myself unraveling 10-12 items made. Put a couple on vendors for newer players value based on the going rate of relic frags. What is left will fill in till the needed mats are gathered to imbue what was really needed.

    Mining carts with a little side mining produces the gold ingots a crafter would need. As far as gathering, hunting for items or town titles. There is no fun in trying to compete with scripters so I am limited on things that are found enjoyable. Main reason the gold elementals there don't bother me. Those that want to work the spawn to meet some of their own goals, great. Those that want to abuse this godsend are only elevated by the weak willed lazy players.
    There is an ATM in front of the market on Willow Rd. After you hit the done key quickly punch the top left arrow key twice fast. Then 3 4 6 7 # keys and enter (once) holding it down. It will spit out 1-5 $20s depending how fast you work the keys sequence. Of course only an idiot would spread into the wind such information for others to over abuse and get attention. DOH Ummmmm Sshhhhhh.

    Stupid question: Are gold ingots that fundamental to resource gatherers' incomes that it matters? As opposed to one of the other kinds of ores?

    If you take in the reasoning for the Ish huts spawn was changed. Gold is kind of high ore for a running spawn area. Could argue to high an ore for the library turn in. Till the market is flooded with old artwork glasses. Bless deeds made the farming of "Owned by noone" tally mute. Then have to look at the city turn in value of a bag of 40 luck GMed resist mage armor. City title, now there is a game stopper. I see the only player taking advantage of a mountain of gold ingots is one those BOT BOD collectors with a castle full of BOD vendor storage.

    Probably not to ingot sellers (though it will make it pretty hard to sell gold ingots, so there is SOME impact that no one seems to care about, so...), but there will be an effect on the clean up/collections and town loyalty systems. But if you don't care about any of those being thrown a bit out of whack I guess it doesn't matter all that much.

    It's probably not a huge deal either way. I just think its stupid, and I wonder if they took into account the fact that gold eles drop ore when making the spawn.

    It's not an really an issue on siege of course. Just another area for pks to check. So I guess thats good.

    I hit 40k in 2 hours last night. Sampire Build, drop anatomy for mining, 100% fire, slayer double axe for double strike. 1-2 hits dead. be standing near forge and you can smelt right from corpse. I can hold 3400 ingots before sending via bag of sending. (BTW armor ignore is useless against them since you get about the same amount of damage from a normal hit because their fire resist is so low.)

    Honestly my biggest problem is finding the right corpse to loot because they stack up pretty fast

    I think the spawn rate should be able to be changed. They do it with the dark guardians in doom. Matter of fact, making the spawn rate 30 seconds and adding a variety of elementals would be a fantastic change.

    1. Gold ingots can be used to obtain copper runic hammers, which when it comes to reforging it is the best to use for weapons with max intensity and no negitives. any small 20e gold bod is 100% of the time a copper runic hammer. I'm on a slower shard and bribing costs next to nothing. (I'll spend maybe 35k to bribe from iron except to gold except.
    2. Gold ingots of course provide 4o luck on weapons. You can make daggers at 3 ingot cost to make 2 magical residue. So of course a mass influx of gold ingots will now effect those prices since I'm sure that process can be easily done afk.
    3. Current turn in rewards 2.5 points per gold ingot. Nuff said there.

    Hey, don't get me wrong, if everyone wants this to stay I certainly will not complain about it, however I'm just making sure that it is pointed out that this will effect more than just ingots themselves.

    I have 11 Legendary smiths/Tailors. I run them once per day athering 3 BODs each Of those I get tons of 20 cnt smalls in normal iron, DC, shadow, copper or bronze smalls. I can bribe them up to 20n gold small easily and cheaply. The reward is a POF. Prior to this publish I had @100 of those BODs stockpiled with no ingots to fill them. After a few hours farming gold elementals I now have @100 extra PoFs and plenty of ingots to spare. Those low end normal smalls do have considerable value with bribing. So yes the flood of gold ingots into the system will make a difference for crafters. I've always hated how useless mining is now but if they are going to give me an easy button... what the hell.

    10-15n gold smalls only give 20% chance for PoF. 20n gold smalls are a 90% chance. 10-15n gold are (for me) best bribed to agapite, then use agapite elixers on shadow ingots, which are the easiest ore to mine in RNG land. On gold LBOD rewards, Exceptional gold and higher large plate rewards have been reworked to give a chace at a high end runic over the +60 ASH. I haven't tested this yet but I intend to now that the gold ingot faucet has been opened wide. I can sell 120 smith scrolls pretty fast on my shard for @450-500k per. Not a lot of you are a rares collector. But a nice chunk of gold for most anyone else.

    Yes, But somehow a good percentage of players have turned UO into its greatest expansion yet "How to beat the scripter". It isn't that you should have "fun" trying to compete with scripting or being a scripting cop. It should be that you are annoyed that so many systems in this game are designed to be exploited by scripting... and were never fun to begin with.

    I rest my case.


    Actually that is illegal. I think they call it stealing or bank robbery or something like that. Only an idiot would exploit this vulnerability (please mind the cameras). The non-idiot would immediately report the problem to the bank... because he knows in the end he will be the one who ends up paying for the theft. But at least he will avoid the legal system. Or maybe the idiot was just desynthesized to real world consequences because he used illegal third party programs to win an un-winnable video game.

    We can all agree that randomizing the spawn nodes was a dumb choice. Yeah scripters had them marked and milked the spots, but guess what, you could memorize their recall spots and block them from recalling in with candelabras and not worry about them and happily mine the spot yourself.

    There is finally a reliable source of gold ore out there, but like I said the spawn should be slowed to 45 seconds between kills, as it stands now its way to fast and respawns before you even open the corpse to loot. Maybe when the devs are convinced randomizing ore and wood nodes was a stupid choice and reverses it, then we can discuss removing the elementals.

    That said I will reiterate again; If this spawn of Gold Elementals is considered OK by the devs, then please change the Ilshenar huts back to spawning Dull Copper, Gold and Verite Elementals like they used to. At least those huts didn't have an on-site forge and you'd have to bring a fire beetle along.

    Now why would I waste time making UO easier with a script when I still find an hour of playing Freecell just as enjoyable as UO. I am defending the gold eli spawn site as a good thing. The only thing I like about scripters is they prey off the weak. When they have depleted the herd and they die out, UO will be enjoyable. The fact the book dropper is still making his route means the weak and lazy more money then sense and EA don't care.

    We both like the gold eli spawn hitting the OP. We both hate scripters. Only difference is I own a billed hat and gloves and don't smile and wave at every camera. All that big biz and the goverment has took from us. A free pizza or two to shared with friends is truely a crime. Big biz factors in a loss and charge for it before it even happens. So we paid for the pizza already. That is the crime.

    Either way its another developer fail. If you leave it in - its too many gold ingots too fast for sure.

    If they nerf it or take it out - those of us that have been camping it from the time it came out will be far ahead of the game/others. These are the things they should run by a focus group before you put them out. Pure and simple. I'll be the first one to volunteer for a focus group if one exists and they actually LISTEN to feedback vs just randomly publishing things. I have 10+ years here and can probably provide some good feedback esp around crafting/resoruces.

    I am curious to know if they considered it at all, or if they just thought the monster would be cool for the area (which it is). Clearly they don't seem to mind, since it wasn't part of the rebalance of the area, so who knows.

    Thanks for the suggestion to swap mining onto a sampire. I tried it and got 5800 gold in half an hour. But it's not as easy as it sounds. I found it very frustrating trying to click on the forge with all the bodies piling up on it. I kept clicking around on the forge trying to find an empty spot. My hands hurt after just a half hour of this. I didn't get as many ingots with my miner and fire beetle (me in a doorway and the beetle behind me), but it was a lot easier clicking on the beetle than trying to get the forge to work. Anybody else finding the forge itself a pain? Is this possibly a deliberate pain in the, er, hands, to avoid the scripting some were afraid of? Or is there an easier way to click on it?

    I still say leave it as it is. I have been battling for Minax arties. Maybe someday I will have a need to create a luck suit and need gold ingots. I'd rather have this available. In my opinion it is not hurting anyone.

    I personally think it is interesting how Blackthorn has his own internal gold coin mint under his castle. No wonder there is inflation! :) j/k
