i believe fel is no longer needed to carry on the uo's 13th yr + strive becuz uo has converted to almost 80% tram 20% fel/pvpers. also i think the first 10 yrs of this game fel built this game to where uo devs/creators needed it to be for the carry over to trammel/events and less on the fel side. i do understand on making expansion and having ppl tring coming back but the way its been done just making fel almost non exsistance in uo.

a good example of this would be latest tracking bug... as soon as i got the patch or the High Seas Expansion tracking took a crap . as soon as ppl couldnt get Saltpeter for there cannons it was fix within 2-3 days.

this post can be contested in all ways but in the end uo fel love is always last and soon dead . ( cry's and thinks of good memories of old uo days)

last i would like to start a poll .. Do u Think Uo Team Needs to Pay Just Alittle more to Fel?

    1 for yes
    2 for no

This thread might get burned quickly, lol. But if you want a poll you need to re-post. In the boxes at the bottom under additional options the bottom box you need to check is called "post a poll." By that you can list how many options you want. After that you hit submit and then you can edit the options.

this thread should probably just die. Either you play a dead shard, of have never been to fel. Felucca is easily the most active facet on Atlantic. And is one of the last/few aspects of UO that still require player interaction to its fullest extent.
Edit, bank sitting does not count as being active. We'd do it in fel too, if we didn't have thieves(Players interacting with other players).

UO needs Felucca as little as it needs Trammel. What it needs is a completely revamped PvP system. What we have today is the choice between griefer's paradise and carebear-land.

Your comparisons are apples and oranges. Saltpeter just needed the placing of more vendors, it was not a bug.
Tracking is a bug which needs to be found before it can be fixed. I'm sure the team are working on it.

Even if I don't believe in your revamped system, the PvP system of UO is awful. There are games with full PvP that are working without a split (Felucca/Trammel, Battlegrounds, Instance, RvR area...). UO's system encourages hunter/prey PvP, which is bad in the long term. There would need a system that hint players towards guild/ally wars.

^^ Agree. Even if the OP's estimation of fel players is in fact "20%" thats 1/5 of uo players gone. Plus, many new, young players only play uo for the pvp, and easy access to faction armor because they dont have huge gold reserves. Most older players mostly stay in trammel because (like myself) uo pvp does get old after over a decade. I think the estimation of 20 percent is a bit low, because many old players still do champ spawns, but just dont flutter around Yew gate with the 15 year olds.

Hawkeye i love your ideas, but im sure even you know its too complicated to ever happen.

I dont understand what Coppelia means by Hunter / Prey pvp. Uo pvp is fine imo, it shouldnt be like other games. A battleground in Uo is a champ spawn or faction base. The only change i see as needed would be making faction base fights / town control needed again. Which i always say could be be simply done by just wiping all points every couple months. Similar to... the arena system in the game which shall not be named.

  13. The better question is, do YOU need Fel?

If PvP is not your cup of tea, stay out.
If you want to take advantage of some of the bonuses Fel has to offer, well, you need to decide if it's worth risking it to go.

There is so little done with Felucca. The Devs need to do more for it, in my opinion.

Fel is a playstyle that some enjoy. Noone forces you to go through the red gate and frankly aside from powerscrolls everything in this game can be attained by never having to goto fel.

One of my biggest problems with this booster pack is that they did not include a water based fel champ spawn that required the new ships to be able to complete. I'm really dismayed because i feel the dev's dropped the ball on a prime opportunity to maximize this booster to the fullest.

Could you imagine 10 ships with 4-5 man crews duking it out on the high seas. For the life of me I don't know why such a spawn wasn't implemented.

They should totally make scalis a champ spawn boss. We are throwing white nets off the peer at bucs den to summon him. Stupid if you ask me.

Hunter/prey means if you put all the players altogether, there'll be naggers waiting to jump on victims and avoiding real fights. The hunters will have fun and later will talk about how they were killing noobs back in the days, the preys will get frustrated and quit.
There are systems where that doesn't happen, and there's no need for a split. No battleground, no arena. But UO's PvP system is rubbish and needed a split.

And of course it would be stupid to remove Felucca. It's entirely possible to avoid it if you don't like it, and there are still more players than you think there.

BTW if you want a healthy faction system, it's useless to tweak the current one if there's no server merge. People must get real, server merges are required.

If you don't want to be prey take the time to get good. Simple as that. Since many people aren't willing to go out and lose fight after fight to get better, they give up and cry about how PvP is no fun. I enjoyed PvP since the very first time I tried it. PvP is the reason UO is unique from every other game...I don't know why anyone thinks otherwise.

I remember my first week of UO well. I killed mongbats up to Ogres, found some armor and weapons. Then a PK whacked me on the head and stole all my stuff. But i didnt give up. A while later my house was robbed. But then to our little gangs luck we jumped some poor soul and looted a workshop deed! -a mansion to us at the time.

The point is, while you may lose, win, be dishonorable, its fun for those who love UO, and thats the heart of the game.

I don't remember UO starting off as a pvm game. Why should what the game was founded off be forgotten?

Whoever said people moved to tram based activities because pvp got repetitive, are you kidding? I can go use ONE character and basically kill anything in the game I want over and over and over and over. Guess what? When I go back to do it tomorrow it'll be the same exact rinse and repeat event against unintelligent AI monsters.

As for hunter/prey.. this game has been out nearly 13 years. I don't think the concept of pvp and how to play templates is really something difficult. UO has given them more and more watered down ways to avoid having to fight for what they want, so people just get worse and quit trying (i.e mysticism and double hit spell bows). If trammel wasn't introduced, people would have had to learn to hold their own to get what they want.

    Fel needs attention.

While I can see the need for Fel, I can't for 'counts'. It's pvp land, players are supposed to be attacked/killed by each other, why should that be a penalty? In pvm land, I turn red to monsters, but it's not permanent, no matter how many I kill. Maybe the original purpose of a penality isn't valid anymore, or needs modification? I say do away being 'perma red' or even red at all after a server reset.

Didn't start out as a pvp game either if it did there would be no point for monsters. It was based on Ultima games for nintendo which were not pvp but a world of trveling and becoming stronger with companions that you meet on the way. It was molded from those games to be a world that allowed players to do what they want to imitate the fantsy world of ultima and the interaction of real life. The players made the game what it was the creators just build the world for us with just a simple direction freedom.

In my humble opinion on the idea asked on:
I have no idea what the problem with fel is... perhaps been wacked too many times there and need to get rid of the problem...?

Feluccia is the birth place of UO in a whole and cutting it out the Dev have not done. Infact the Dev give some love to fel most times in the patches. Speaking of...

With every patch there is bound to be bugs and problems. Show me one game out there where there is no bugs/trouble with its patches.

Plain and simple its priority of severity. The Dev work at all the areas effected and reported to the uobugs site. They are not sitting on their laurals, sipping coffee and eating pizza. Finding the errors that caused the bug is time consuming not something that you can just glance over and go ahh haaa! eureka! In under 5 minutes. I bet Cal wishes it was that simple!!!

Fel is filled with homes, players live there. I know a great deal of my houses are in Fel.
I treat going to Fel the same as I do Tram, Malas, Tokuno, TerMur.. only I am in fully awaire of what could go on, and am set for it.

Do we need Fel? Yes PvP aside Fel has much to offer. Just because one MIGHT see a red or get ganked, want to get rid of a place? Sugar if Fel is not someone's cup of tea I have one piece of advice for them. Stay Out of Feluccia. Remove all runes from their books there, ignore it on the Gate system, and go live their UO life free in the knowelage they are rid of it. Leave it to the rest of us who want it.

People still play in trammel? Can't remember last time i went there.

  26. I've been here since the beginning. And I can tell you firsthand that the player populace lived in fear of PKs, especially the newbies. You didn't leave town without running a risk, and you sure as hell didn't go into a dungeon without running a big risk of being ganked and killed.

As you said in the end of this paragraph, I learned to PvP, and got pretty decent at it, though not spectacular. Why? Because if you were going to play this game, you had to learn how to deal with PKs. You learned to recall out or switch to fight mode in at a split second notice.

While I will never deny PKs made this game a darn sight more challenging to survive, they also didn't make it particularly pleasant. The PKs revelled in the sway they held over other players. And back in those days, I hear these elusive legends of PKs who were sporting and were simply in it for the thrill of the tactics and looking for a challenge. I sure never met one of them out of the multitude of shards I played back then. Because 99.99999% the ones I ran into, and that everyone I knew ran into, were usually out to kill you quickly just because they could. To hold sway over another player. To just exhult in the giddy glee of being a pain in the ass to someone. "Hey, I smashed you." "I'm a big man." "You are inferior." These PKs never needed the paltry equipment your character had, but usually took it to further grief you. And as for "sporting," puh-leese. These guys went after mules and newbies most of the time, people who they knew didn't have a chance to fight back. Again, just to wield this arrogant power.

I remember some lady logged onto her son's account and basically stood at the Britian bank berating the players because her son got ganked by a PK and he lost everything. I told her, lady, if they guy who did it actually reads what you are saying, you made his night. Misery of other players is their fix.

So everyone went to Trammel. Why? Because while it's tremendous fun to be the wolf, it sure isn't much fun to be the sheep. Even the ones who know how to cope and fight back. Those who disagree with this, all I gotta say is, let's look at the population of each facet. That speaks volumes. And I daresay if you were honest with yourself, you wouldn't want a 7xGM dexxer monkey f**king with YOUR crafter or miner, ganking him, taking his stuff and telling you how much you suck.

But all this groaning over old scores is pretty irrelevant. The PK heyday has long, long since passed. And mostly because they lost their easy prey. But anyone who goes to Felucca CHOOSES to at this point, so fair game.

But another thing that PKs even even some pro-PvPs don't seem to favor is that... now hold on to your corn cob pipe!... some players DO NOT ENJOY PVP IN ULTIMA ONLINE. And they sure as hell don't like it forced on them. And it's not necessarily due to them sucking at it, even though they may.

And yes, I PvP. Fairly regularly, in fact, and I support Felucca. I am Pro-PvP but very, very much anti-PKs. PKs have done so much damage to this game's reputation that we'll never get a lot of the newbies who quit because of PKs back in the fold.

you are so right! I only see bank sitters that are not actually there in Trammel rules. I never see them in fel! I only see people actually playing the game in fel.

I wonder what the percentage of AFK bank sitters there are? You might want to subtract that from your figures.

I wasn't really referring to pvm when i said alot of older players who have gotten bored of pvp for the most part spend the majority of their time in trammel. I was thinking of RP, tournament / rppvp / organized pvp (which yes sometimes does have to take place in fel) Also rare collecting, EM events, I guess none of those have to take place in Trammel, they just usually do.

South Park did a show on that they said it was a problem in WoW but we all know it was really UO they were talking about.

Even know it was scary it was fun as hell.

I think there is a valid purpose to have a Fel facet but I think they should make a few shard Fel only (not Siege format but just Fel) and make a few Tram only and then have a couple that is both.

Couldn't of said it better myself!

I personally love Fel not only because I have 25 houses there but because I have made a lot of good friends there and have learned a lot about the game.

There is just too much real estate in UO and I am fine with whats in Fel.
