Just a little Public Service Announcement for you all; a Guildmate recently forgot he's been living in Felucca for nearly 10 years, and sailed over to buy some new ships at the Floating Emporium. And here's why you shouldn't do what he did!

1.) The Floating Emporium isn't in a guard zone. It's a bit silly trying to do your shopping here unless you have too!

2.) After you've got killed again and again by reds with blue healers, running back to ship to high-tail it out of there might make sense... if it's a new ship and public access if it's completely disabled. If it's an Old style ship however, leaving it unlocked is a bit daft.

3.) Once you've been killed on your old ship too, and this is the really important point, carrying your keys but not having them insured is unbelievably foolish. What you'll find, as my guild mate just has, is that you can't own any more ships until it decays, but the keys they just looted off you have been used to lock the gangplanks, and ensure you can't get on board to remove or refresh it. So don't do that.

4.) This may or may not work, but I've asked the pirates and scoundrels I know in the area to try sinking this old boat with a new, so my friend can at least play over the weekend with other ships. None of which absolves you from insuring your boat keys if you are playing in Fel!.

Sounds like good advice, but I can't help but chuckle over the scenerio. Hope your friends ship got sunk so he can get another one. LOL

Yes id ask him the same thing..
You do get a 2nd key placed in the bank for just such a thing happening.
All he would have to do is go to the bank and cast recall on the key LEFT IN THE BANK..meaning leave it in the bank. The boat will work for him to get it away from the market so he could disembark at a safer location and return to the bank and get the remaining key to dry dock it. (remembering to mark a ruin to the spot of course)
Feluccia is no different then Tram in this respect.. Always stop and think before running off when you live in Fel. Insure EVERYTHING you can.

Oh, that other key? I forgot that part!

5.) Don't, no really don't wait an hour, recall back with the second key which is also uninsured, and still find a mob waiting for you and have that key looted from you too! :p

From what I can gather from what he told me today, there was a gang of people trying to take control of the Sea Market last night on Europa, rez-killing on the island itself and checking for recallers on the near-by boats. Maybe it'll encourage a lot more mass and ship PvP over time to wrest it back between the bigger guilds, but until his boat decay timer runs out, it's not something my friend will be part of!
