Dragon disappears after I fed it. It didnt take off after anything in the area, but to make sure I spammed all follow me. When I fed it was like I erased it off the screen. Im sitting here thinking HUH!!! where did it go. I was about to page a GM then remembered my summoning ball in my pack I clicked on it my dragon came back. OMG!!!! talk about a scare. Im so thankful for those summoning balls, and thank you to the one who came up with them.

You can log your char out and then return in game. Your pet will be standing right on top of you regardless of where he became lost.

I had a greater bird that everytime I took it out of the stable or jumped off it the bird would take off. Didn't matter if it was fed or not and my char was 3x 120 tamer. I would log out and back in to reclaim it and by the time I got back into game it would be half a screen or more away. Eventually I released and killed it eventhough it had great stats.

That is not always true I have seen alot of players lose their bonded pets due to one thing or another. Other week I saw a player running around finally they stopped and asked me if I saw their pet in the area.
Systems are not always perfect and there will be some snags along the line. Logging out and in would of been the last thing I would do because of how it happened in my situation.

I have a frenzy who disappears at high speed if I die and fall off her. I can kinda see her logic when she's standing facing down an oni :D

What I do if she legs it is to relog in an enclosed area (usually the stables) and then she can't get away before I call her. If you can somehow box yourself in and then try feeding or summoning a runaway pet, you should manage to get the devil under control.

Michelle, I've had that happen once or twice. My theory is that as soon as you fed your pet, it went into that state of euphoria where it forgets it has an owner to worry about and decided it was time to go do something about that headless three screens back that was stuck on a tombstone but still shaking its little fists at your dragon.

hehe I had a blue beetle that did that! Everytime I would get off of it, the thing would run to this one spot and just stand there. (It was bugged) but It was the funniest thing... I paged a GM about it but while I was waiting for the GM to come some guy came over ... and I decided to play mind games with him...

So I said ... "Hey you wanna buy this blue beetle? He's completely trained."

The guy was like "What do you mean?"

I said "Oh, it's a magic beetle! It's possessed... Wanna see?"

Of course he did... so I said I'll get off my beetle and he will come stand right here... ( I stood on the spot he seemed attracted to.)

So I got off the beetle and sure enough he went right for the spot...

The guy was like ... "well I'm not convinced... do it again...."

I was like "Sure... But this time I'll go like way off screen.... You stay here and wait... the beetle will be here shortly." The guy agreed and I went about 4 screens away and hopped off the beetle.

Sure enough soon as I did the beetle made a B-Line for the spot arriving there way before me.

The guy was like "OMG that is cool... how much you want for it?"

About this time the GM showed up and I was like... "Well truth be told the poor beetle is cursed... and in need of a curse removal" The GM fixed the poor pet and all was well but sure was funny. My guildmate and I were laughing up a storm... and the fella we were toying with had a good laugh too. Especially when I told him we had come there to farm leather from the Gaman.... and everytime I'd get enough in my pack to make me overweight I'd get off my beetle and it would run away to the spot and I'd be left standing there too heavy to chase it...

But it is a bug and is something a GM CAN fix.

haha good story, I had a blue bug too that one day just had enough of me and IDOCs, and took off like a bat outta...well, Baja. It was speedhacking so fast I was running full out and couldn't catch it for 6 screens, overcoming it and jumping on as it blew past. A GM came finally to my call and I explained my runaway bug. "Can you get off and show me?" I'm like um...ok...hope yer fast...and awaaay we both go as the bug flies outta sight. so after THAT he's all perplexed and calls ANOTHER GM...they finally fix him but jeebus. What a freakin time for the bug to go screwy...loaded tower. After 4 years, the buggy bug finally got squished by a fall last month.

Pets won't come back to you if you relog but you're dead (and you'll get a message telling you so). You can either retrieve them by relogging (again) when you're alive, or by just going to the stables.

Feeding a pet puts it into "stop" mode, which means it's free to wander and/or attack anything it doesn't like the look of.

The Pet Balls are indeed the most reliable method of pet retrieval. If you don't want to lose a pet, link it to a ball and put that somewhere safe.

I actually lost my prize greater a couple of weeks ago when I logged out dead and didn't relog for a few days...not sure what happened, but I'm guessing it didn't log with me. So yeah, this sort of thing does happen.

you should look around the area you lost it in even thou you are only showing 0/5 followers. takes sometime for them to go wild. Sorry to hear you lost your pet today thou. this is another fine example of why the summoning ball is the best item for a tamer, or anyone who uses a pet.

unfed, unloved CUs can go wild while mounted on them. If you logoff on a no instant logoff location, this can also happen after logging off. Also if you are dismounted or killed after logging off, the pet does not autostable.

So there is still a chance, that the pet is around in the area, as has been already stated.

There are a few ways that you can lose your bonded pet:
    1) You have your unmounted pet (dragon, beetle) next to you at server down. You will log during server down but your pet won't. If you come back a while later, you pet could go wild.
    2) Your pet is friended to someone and follows him. When he recalled away. Your pet will head straight to serverline. If the area is large, it will be very hard to find it.
    3) You have left something in your packy/beetle and log. Your pet won't log and may go wild.
    4) Paroxysmus Swamp Dragon may head for serverline if the owner dies. It is an old bug and I am not sure if it is already fixed.

My pets also tend to run away after I feed them. I feed and use the all follow command right away.

Mine do that to but this was totally different. when I fed it it was like my GD has the hiding skill that is the best way I can describe what happened.
