Are you talking about the Dread Warhorses? If so, where are you finding them?

So you want the player nerfed too?

Using the dreads weak resist in fire helps a bit.

Not a mage? Use the overseer with 100 Fire Damage and 45%DI and 10 HCI 35 SSI and stamina reg 2. If you cant handle the tamer all I can say is wow/no really amazing.:)

Yeah, and even if you're using a Dread Mare Slaying Talisman (if it does even exist) there is still a player behind the pet my simple minded friend :p

Lets also not forget chivalry: enemy of one, consecrate weapon.

I'm sure there is a sepcific slayer weapon that will work on them as well.

But regardless, there is always a player behind the pet my simple friend :p

We have been testing this and there seems to be no slayer for dreads. There is in fact having very low fire resist so if your using something 100 fire dmg item, with 50 fireball, 30 swing, Stamina 50, maxing out your 100% dmg inc and you fine to go. it is around 64 per hit with 16 or so fireball. So that is 4 hits or so and one dead um was called a dread but now it is just a dead mare with a dead tamer.

This is with a Soul Glaive 40 hld, 50 fireball, 50 stamia leech, 30 swing, 23 dmg inc, with 100 fire dmg item.

Dreads are weak to cold as well, I withered a chiv tamer and his dread to death not that long ago.

    He is quite correct.

They are extremely powerful when handled by even an average pvp tamer and it most likely is just an oversight by the Dev's that they have no known weakness to a specific slayer.

Anyone talking about using some type of 100% fire damage weapon to kill them in 4 hits is just plain foolish or has never pvped.
I have never tried that but I would bet my last dollar that they are saying this from a pvm standpoint with EOO,Consecrate & Honor.
This just is not happening too often in Felucca.
Even if you happen to be playing one of the few pvp templates able to do this there is no way you are getting everything off while dealing with the horse and the tamer.

But I love the way that people in this post try to defend them by splitting them off from the tamer. They are a package folks. Please spare me the nonsense about how easy it is to kill a tamer. You arent just killing a tamer. You are 1 vs 2ing both at the same time.

I personally don't have a huge issue with the horses but bottom line is that they are seriously overpowered.
And anyone who tries to say otherwise is either plain ignorant or lying to try and protect their gimplate.
Do you think that tons of pvpers are paying 50-100 per horse because they look cool?

If they werent insanely overpowered NO pvpers would pay 100 million for one!

They sell for alot on prodo shards, and I sold one (overpriced in my honest opinion for 14m on Siege, thats approx 100m on prodo)

Yah I agree, Dogs are fey slayer, Dragons are Dragon slayers.. dread is no slayer and can do a ton of damage in a short time, it also hits a fireball when you're off screen. I've gotten a lot of people with that delayed fireball, they hit the star-room portal and die on the other side in terra or viceversa. I don't think they should have them respawn, i think rares should be just that, and lets be honest no one wants to see these things everywhere in fel. They go for the money they go for because they are nasty. Grouping them into a slayer would be nice, but it wouldn't stop them from being rare and powerful. The bane dragon is a dragon slayer but I rarely see anyone use them due to that reason. IF the dread was a slayer they would still be used, and would still get decent gold, being rare, but they wouldn't be all over fel like they are now.

On the flipside tho, if they nerf or "fix" the dreadmares, it will limit tamer options again. If you ask me it doesn't get any more powerful for a ridable pet, banes are similar but it just doesn't look cool and the sounds it makes are horrid. I don't know, half of me says change it and the other half says leave it as it is. Rares should be rare and should be good items, not just some piece of deco or named apron with no mods, etc. It's not my fault I played when they spawned, but that's UO..I really really wish I had a spittoon just because I think it's cool. I am not willing to pay the gold they want for one, so I don't have it. It's just how it is.

They need a general overhaul of pets. WW's are never used.. anywhere. Nightmare and Runebeetle combo died out after awhile, I rarely see them anymore. Regular dragons are a joke, Reptalon's are never used, Greater Hiyru's are rarely used and lesser's are only used by Samuri, etc etc etc. There are only a few main pets used by anyone.. Greater Dragon, Dread Mare (more prevalent in fel), and Cu Sidhe. Sometimes you see a Bake Kitsune teamed up with a Dread but I think that's because they can have a pretty crazy mana dump which combined with a Dread is powerful. Mayb every now and again a tamer will break out an older pet, but you arn't doing anything serious with it. Diversity needs to come back, I think that's the main issue here. There are a ton of tameables in UO, but most are not used. Bane Dragons did their job, and I imagine they will get more love now with the poisoning updates, but overall there has not been a great pet in a long time. I don't consider a Greater Dragon to be much of a pet, I refuse to play a Gargoyle and I hate being on foot all the time. It made everything else weak in comparison.

If you remember when Dread's spawned, the person running UO was running Dark Age of Camelot also, or some other game I forget. Point is UO was on the back burner and they would just throw stuff into the game not really caring what happened. That is why we have the dreadmare with no slayer and it is a rare because they were hard to tame and didn't last for a very long. They did a lot of those random red spawns at that time, I don't follow UO storylines but every few weeks new spawn would show up. I actually wonder if dreads were supposed to be tamable when it happend, the first banedragons that showed up were not tameable I don't think. Anyway dreads should have a slayer to make it more even, but do not tone them down, they need to be strong because without the dread what else do we have to play with that is worth the time and effort of training?

A Samurai/Warrior can kill a Dread Warhorse and Tamer by popping Evasion while he goes for the Warhorse, evading the majority of both the Tamer's and the Warhorse's attacks. Once the Dread Warhorse is dead, the tamer's a joke. However, with the recent nerf to Lightning Strike, you're not gonna see that many Samurai/Warriors in PvP anymore.

Anyways, they do need to come out with an "Equine Slayer", that should work on Horses, Warhorses, Unicorns, Ki-Rins, Nightmares, Fire Steeds and Dread Warhorses.

They should just make pets refuse to attack other players. The coding is obviously there since we cant tell our faction pets to attack our faction-mates. Of course, I know this isn't a very popular opinion ;)
