Dynamic Object

    What the heck is a dynamic object? For control alt in the EC, there are four choices, one of which is dynamic objects. Well if I drop anything out of my backpack on the ground, dynamic object control alt will not pick it up. If you are fishing and have fish at your feet, kill a water elemental and the corpse covers said fish, you have no hope of picking them up until the corpse decays. How can you get handles for real dynamic objects?

    Dynamic Object should pick up anything that is NOT part of the landscape or part of a built building.

    Basically if it moves or highlights then it should get an object handle.

    Make sure that you have the object handle quantity set correctly, if you have it set low (like 50 or 100) you might not pick up any newly set down items depending on what's around you.

    Also make sure you Apply any changes (using the Object Handle Window) in Pico's or other Enhanced UIs will automatically Apply when selected.

    This is exactly what I used to think dynamic object was. Now if I take a rune, a white pearl, an axe and a fish from my backpack, lay it on the ground, control-shift will not show any of them. This is when dynamic object is selected and applied. Perhaps this is just a client bug. Just wanted to check if it was that way with everyone before I resort to a reload of the client.

    Working for me just fine using Picno's 4.8a with Copper Texture Pack.

    OK. Since I last posted, I have found there is some kind of bug with this system. I have pinco's running too.

    Go to user settings and set the control/shift to dynamic, 300 (or any other value), hit apply tab and log off the client. When you restart and drop an item from your backpack to the ground, control/shift will pull up the tag for that item. Then walk around a bit (where there are a lot of dynamics) and hit control/shift a few times. Then drop the item from your pack to the ground again, and on control/shift, the tab for that item will not appear, nor will it appear for any other dynamic object such as shoes, fish or anything else you drop on ground.

    If you then log out and back on, control/shift will work properly the first time or two you use it.

    It looks to me that the 300 you set for max tags displayed is counting up to 300 once. After it gets there it does not reset for the next time you press control/shift. You have to log out to get the limit reset. Now this could be confusing, as there are many semi-permanent items such as gates, lampposts and such in town or around your house that will always show tabs. However the dynamic objects you are really interested in are only pulled up until you hit the 300, 200, 100 limit you set in the user settings. Thereafter they will not pull up until you log out to reset the limit counter.

    I am posting this to confirm that everyone sees the same patterns before I submit a bug report. I would really appreciate it if someone would confirm what I have been seeing. Thanks.

    Yep, that sounds right. I think I remember this as well back during KR when I was testing various settings to help with lag (early on in the KR release). Sine then I've just had it set to "On" and usually just to Corpses then swap to Dynamic and use Zoom settings to key in on what I'm trying to target.
