EA-LAND HEADING FOR A DEPRESSION AND MOST STORES AGREE

Discussion in 'EA Land/The Sims Online Stratics Forums' started by independent117, Mar 22, 2008.

1. i've been doing a poll on ea-land to most of the store owners,

90% of them said they CANT restock

50% said they are switching or selling hosue to become a roomie.

out of those 90 that said they cant restock, 40% said they'd quit the game all togeher!

if you do CC's your ok, but if you dont anythign else, your screwed

another said this. "tell me about it and you have to skill to ge there and the skilling ppl are taking it the hardest because ppl are using the bookcases like crazy causing them to wear and break and then cant afford to buy another one.

all of them said yes to the main idea being good. they said there happy that they are trying to get new ppl to do different types of houses, but if only we all could afford to put things in them ROFL

update of this is coming up soon : ) whats your say on this subject?

The prices will come down as soon as people liquidate some of their excess stock from the production cities. If you had avatars move in from AV or BF with a plentiful stock of items, you can still afford to price low until you run out.

well from 1 who is not afk and was polled...

no, i dont think its heading in the right direction unless you know how to do cc
people arent deleting un-used items, they are selling them or trading them. in 15 minutes i had 3 people IM me asking if i buy used items....prices arent going to decrease they way they anticipate them unless i am at a total mis-understanding of how this new economy is upposed to work. who will delete when u can sell? how many people who take breaks from the game delete what they have before they do? people are just building and buying more and more. you want to genereate more new paying players? more items...higher prices...
If you do cc, you have it made....if you dont, you wont be there for long until you deplete the inventories you came with and start stocking the cheap items.

if the afking ones are such a problem which all that seems to be the comment, why isnt something being done about it then so the ones who arent afking dont take the bad rap for the rest? top 100 list? get rid of it....yes,they are going to lose some paying accounts from the top houses but it will even the playing field for the rest. as for the list....break it down. give each category a sub category...a store? main category....appliance, sub category, or custom content, or clothing...not to say you cant sell anything else but just make more categories....more categories = more lists = more houses that can be on there = more fair for those with 1 account
make it more fair ? dont make it top 100 of the sub categories.....
make it top 100 of sub categories open and on line at that time
now when you look up a list you look at skill house then pick a sub category like cooking and see the list of open cooking houses ....
make the prices for stores as they were, give us a sub cateogry to pick from, give us the discounts in that category only.....
the idea behind the new economy was great, incentive to build (if u can afford) new places that arent there because its economic. i just dont see it heading that way at all.

edit** she said of the 90% of stores polled.......not 90 % of stores.....so the afkers missed out on having any input

and when you run out what do you do then when you cant afford to restock?

when they liquidate their excess stock how will this bring the prices down? they are selling them to people keeping the items, not deleting them....
am i not understanding correctly then? can someone clarify HOW a jam table will ever be less than 56k retail now without having to rely on people deleting the jam tables they own?

It's almost like they want to make it so someone can only afford one jam table ... ever. That will be real cool and fun guys... a jam lot that has 1 jam table. Way to promote a social gaming community. With prices as they are, the only sims who will ever have an established house are those that brought objects with them from their old cities. New players have a lot to hope for.

BTW, Increasing the lot capacity to 30 is almost like a tease. "Here you can have more people in your lot... too bad you can't afford 30 jam tables nor can you afford multiple greening objects nor can you afford to feed 30 people." haha it's silly

12. glass_angel

glass_angel Guest

you will get your 30 jams...when you trade your 14k each amish book cases for them.....
there is no incentive to delete anything.....how can prices come down if nothing is being deleted from the economy???

Don't forget that people aren't selling at these prices. Those that brought across large stocks, could sell at $1000 and it would still all be profit to them as they didn't layout any costs in EA-Land.

and when the supply runs out? obviously there isnt this huge amount of things for sale as some think there is.... check out the subject post above this one in city hall...

AFKer's in stores!! >:-{
"Okay. I'm sure that at least 75% of us here are tired of going into a store looking for something only to find them AFK. Things are SOOO hard to come by now a days especially since you can't even buy most of the stuff in the catalog in a pinch even if you wanted to since the catalogs half empty! "

15. wait what about the ppl who do go and out buy something that the normal price like 30k that it is, so when you trade you have to trade at the 1k or do you trade somethign thats worth 30k cuz thats the wait i'd do it at

I'd have to agree. Even if 90% of the people who answerd this guy said this, given the AFK epidemic in stores that probably still doesn't represent even 5% of the total population, therefore its not a real survey so the results are not really valid. In order to make it valid you'd have to send messages to every owner and roomie in the top 100, whether they were afk, or offline or whatever the case, and then give them a timeframe to respond in. After that you could say "X number of people responded to my question and X% of them agree" 90% agree you said, but what if you only talked to 10 store owners total, that'd only be 9 people agreeing with you.....it makes a differnece in the end.

Ok lets take jams as an example, catalogue price is 55,232 without any discount.

For all those players that stocked up in BF and bought over shed loads of jam tables, if they sell a jam table for $1000 they are in profit by $1000 in EA-Land.

If they set the value at $25,000 but no one buys them because they are too expensive, they're stuck with a bunch of jam tables going nowhere and aren't making any money.

Besides, if you scout around you will find other stores selling them at a very low price based on what they paid before the merges.

So wouldn't it make sense for people to price them at something that is actually going to move the stock?

ok, so they sell out of the 20 jams for 1k they had in stock....they made 20k...still cant get a new one for that price from the catalogue...

and how will the price ever go down? when some people delete jam tables from their inventrories? have you deleted an item yet? especially at that price? no, you are going to trade or sell off your old stuff....

Yea, totally! I know no one actually lists their objects by the catalogue price... but what happens when people have bought up all the jam tables in hopes of establishing a jamming house. Then stores have no choice but to turn to the catalogues... and like a previous poster said I do not believe people are deleting things in their inventory... maybe giving it to alternate sims and trading/selling but they're definitely not selling them back to the catalogue! So I do not believe the # of an object in existence will ever dramatically drop resulting in a lower catalogue price. (Which is a bad thing)

I'm not sure I understood your post, but you'd trade it based on *current market* value NOT what you paid for it. So if the current market value is 1k then you would trade it for something else worth 1k. Nobody is gonna trade it for something worth 30k cuz they don't care what you paid for it, they care what they could get for it.

We all really need to sit back and relax about this stuff until beta is over.

Predicting a recession when there could very well be an economy reset when the game comes out of beta doesn't mean much to me.

Of course yes, ppl will sell their used stuff very cheaply - or maybe they'll salvage it and sell the parts/wood etc instead.

Perhaps we will see a little more specialisation in stores in future, rather then selling everything, stores will not worry when they run out of a certain item because they no longer intend to stock it.

Also as items change hands and are redistributed around the world and new players join, the prices will change.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not in favour of the huge prices either. I found that my sim from BF arrived with over 50 pet carriers. I had obviously been pet pulling one day didn't delete them and then must have forgotten to go back to BF before the merge. I thought ok, I'll start a pet store - sell off the crates cheap to newbies but at a steady profit to me and then do something else. Until I saw the price of pet accessories and realised that I couldn't afford to stock one single pet bed !!

I must admit I'm not sure if costs are based on the number of items versus the number of people owning them, or the number of people in the game period. It obviously makes a big difference to how quickly the prices will go down and next time I see one of the devs I'll be sure to ask.

ok but does anyone agree that most store owners would most lilkely just give each other there sims houses the items they need to buy so the house is all set. thus making there less items out there to sell. so that means there should be a reason to make the prices SO high

29. Guest

Instead of buying skilling and money objects from the catalogue new, you buy them back from people looking to sell them. You buy back custom content you think would sell. There is no more delete. This causes more interaction between store owner and buyer, the cash register comes in handy for proper sim placement for in take of old items. I am prepared to buy buy buy [IMG]

30. when you do a trade you lose wear not everyone who wants to sell the item is at perfect wear. that means the worth of the item goes down.

31. i mean not everyone has the perfect wear. meaning they they have to sell it used so they get less.

32. all im just saying is that the ppl who run shops are going to go down hill becuse they cant restock and what are we just supposed to "wait" around for this to end while they go straight to the bottom of the list as well as sit there with nothign to do lol.

how long will that be...weeks a month? will ppl even wait around for the change to happen?

The items that are in game now is all there is unless people are willing to pay catalogue prices for new. People will have to arrive at they can't afford it brand new, but they can used. So wear won't matter anymore.

Stores are not gonna be the same as they were before, but it does open up more opportunity for garage sale type stores.

Actually you couldn't be more wrong. The reason I said I wanted to ask a dev is because as I admitted, I'm not certain and therefore I can't answer questions and give out information if I'm not certain about something.

The point about the pet beds was simply to illustrate that I also think the prices are too high currently. I've got plenty of sims and plenty of properties in EA-Land, if I chose to open a store it would be for fun and not as a main source of income.

I THINK BECAUSE OF ALL THIS HATING ON SHOPPING HOUSES BECAUSE THERE AFKERS I THINK WE ALL SHOPPING HOUSES SHOULD JUST TAKE A DAY OFF AND SEE JUST HOW IMPORTANT WE ARE LOL...AND WE SHOULD JUST GO AND MAKE SOME MONEY AND BE APART OF TSO AND NOT HAVING WAIT ALL ALONE AT OUR HOUSES WHILE YOU GUYS SHOP .

43. I try to not be AFK. Usually, in the very rare scenario of someone appearing at my lot. I jump up, say hi... wait a few seconds to make sure they land, run up, welcome them and shake their hands. And then I try to "persuade" them into buying the most overpriced table in all of EA Land (jk).

44. well i still think we should pick a certain date and all shops should spend half other day open and then the rest of the day spending doing what WE wanna do. because apearently we shopping owners just seem to be afkers and they cant deal with it so im thinking .....ok well lets just not be open ...we want respect or no sales lol

45. Lol, but thats a loss of a valuable business day. I for one, would rather deal with disrespect instead of loosing some valuable business not to mention simoleans [IMG].

46. so you can put a price on respect? lol

true im just saying why do ppl have to hate on all afkers that are store owners. im at a hosue right now thats a skiling house, and the owner has been afk for 10mins. so she must do that "putting something on the keybored" thing.

47. If I could put a price on respect, I would make it super cheap and go around EA Land and sell it [IMG]!

48. ROFL WOW

YOU GOT JOKES LOL

49. hey you should read my other blogs im like taking over lol there called afk and money and afkers in stores : (
