EC Particle effects vs. Sprites

    Grimm,

    Since we can now get a few FX tiles via the Primeval Lich champ spawn, I have a request...

    In the EC, we get both the particle effect and the CC effect sprite. However, these aren't aligned properly. The EX particle effect usualy hovers well above the CC version, making decoing using them somewhat awkward.

    A great example of this is the hovering wisp. In the EC the particle effect is HIGH above the sprite.

    Could the particle effects be better aligned with the sprites? Preferably, the particles behind the sprite. (This will make sure any EM items don't break, as a few have use the hovering wisp as the base item)

    I'd also like to see the moongate particle effects toned down a bit and put behind the CC moongate sprite. The current particle effect overwhelms the sprite and EC users lose out on seeing the special colors, etc. that the gate may be (colors other than red or blue, obviously.)

    Also many of the cool tiles like lava and swamp tiles do things but in the EC if you use many of them you can see thru them. Looks 100% stupid to have lava bubbling on your stone floor.... Or swamp bubbles coming out of stone tiles. And Placing the tiles on swamp or lava tiled flooring kinda defeats the purpose of getting the special tiles.

    Also the "Sparkle".... when did it go from the cool looking blue thing to just a group of red dots???? I like the cool looking blue thing.

    And as Martyna mentioned things like the "Death Vortex" have two sets of graphics working.... looks ODD to say the least.

    The particle effects do need looking at, I agree. Some are offset or don't match up. In some cases they are missing completely, mostly with regard to spells (ie: the wither spell - it had a great particle effect in third dawn, it doesn't have one at all in the EC).

    On a side note, Nature's Fury. It is basically supposed to be just BEES or something like that. In the Third Dawn client it was purely a particle effect and the "sprite" bit was invisible. In the EC, they haven't made the "slime" sprite invisible and I suspect it should be.

    I disagree with the moongate one though. I think the particle effect looks better infront of the moongate. I guess that is down to personal preference. Also our EMs set up a moongate once in Buccaneers Den that had a spectacular particle effect. Like a beacon almost.

    The death vortex is especially odd... It has the CC graphic, plus an EC graphic that isn't a particle effect as far as I can tell. The EC-only graphic has a problem though, its getting the top and the bottom of the effect chopped off when it is at the largest point making it look like the effect is being viewed through a slit.

    We had a rainbow moongate on GL that was kinda pretty, but you could barely even tell it was there in the EC. I'd rather see moongates in the EC look cool like the corrupted Honor gate...maybe with some particle effect "mist" coming of it.

    Hey! The fact that they both show up at the same time is a outstanding bug. They were never meant to do that. So ideally the EC client should only be showing one or the other.

    Yea I had planned to spend some time updating particle effects. Some are a bit odd as you've mentioned and some are crazy inefficient - like when it fixed the chain lightening issue. But there always seems to be a never ending chain of priorities that's kept me from tackling it.
