    Does he have an email...

    ...I'll resend all the stuff I sent Quantum. It was a month long process and he said it was all but done and then... he disappeared.

    ok, it was asked that you send your player run town information to Messana, there is a link to her email ([email protected]) and other pertinent information in the news article on uo.stratics.com under the Siege Perilous news

    EM Cecil's email is [email protected]

    i resent all of barter towns information to messana a month or two ago (whenever she made her siege appearance) and then i followed up with her a few weeks later. she had received it, but said she was going to wait until the new EM had been trained. so i guess now we can start sending stuff to cecil, sounds like hes fully in the drivers seat

    This is mypersonal opinion on this matter...i personally believe the EM would be of greater use by help fixing what needs to be fixed on Siege Perilous than the same recycled hash for events...now im not saying hes gonna be fixing bugs left and right but the power he does have I believe can be used to greater use...such as player town housing issues...

    EMs are very limited on what they're allowed to do Damien. Bug fixing isn't in their remitt. Do remember that EM stands for 'Event Manager' They're there to manage events.

    I am positive these EM's don't have these powers. Back when we had "Seers" this may have been possible...but now it simply isn't. We had Seer Blaster, or Blastoise(can't remember which) on Chessy back in the day, and he would get furious at how dumb players were. They would ask him to fix bugs, ban people, move chests for them, give them items, etc. He would explain he was there for events and then people would spam "we want items!!" over and over... I think he or the other Seer quit right after that. These guys WERE able to do quite a bit though, as they could produce stuff with mods on it etc. However I don't think the current EM's have much power..

    If you rares collectors keep up with the market like I do you'll notice all the items spawned across the shards never have mods on them. Old Seers were given a ridiculous amount of power and created items for players.

    Go to current day, and the rares given are usually just renamed/colored things. Quantum said he wasn't even allowed to spawn things (which I kinda think is BS after seeing the pickaxe from last night). EM's just don't have much power, asking them to turn guards back on, or ban a player is silly. They are obviously not full fledged programmers. I WISH EA would hire "Seers" back and let them work as mini GMs to assist the players, but the sad truth is that people cannot be trusted with that much power.

  11. I had a Seer offer to give my char Voluptua 'bigger boobs' one day. He said with that name she needed them, heh. The bugger was only joking though.

    Just an FYI, it took us about 2 months on Ches to get the townships set up etc. Also Mesanna is the only Dev doing this on every shard. So be patient. When making up town "banners", you have to send in specific instructions.

    Attached you see the one I made for PaxLair City on Ches. Oh and the moongates can NOT be used. Mesanna will make adjustments on the fly if your lucky enough to be around when she does it. There is no scheduling of time as she has been doing them on off hours. She will do 1, 2 or 3 on the same shard when she's there. We just kept lookouts at the locations, then sent out notices and hopefully folks can get online and get there.

    A lot was done in the 9pm - 1pm est time frame, but , again, nothing written in stone there.

    This is just an FYI on what to expect.

    The idea of the moongates (note usable) was decorative. PaxLair has been a Player town of neutral standing on the Ches shard since 1998. They have always promoted the balance between good and evil. We were going for a balanced look with blue/red mooongates and the Order/Chaos banners. But weren't able to get the moongates into the design.

    All the banners made on Ches, reflect in some way, what the town is about.

    I wanna say Friday? Mesanna was on along with Cecil,it was around midnight eastern time. They called for a meeting upstairs in Luna to discuss player towns and such. About 6 peaple showed up,I don`t think many was there for what the meeting was called for. Mesanna and Cecil talked for a couple mins and got little to no input and than within 5 minutes POOF,everyone was gone except myself who was stealthed and one thief.

    It seemed Mesanna may have took some offense (at least thats how I read it) because when everyone bailed on the meeting she said "well Seige can`t say I didn`t try" but Cecil did step up and comment on how late it was and how most were prolly sleeping and not online. He also said he would get in contact with a few that do want this town banner player town thing and get back with Mesanna.

    Even though no one was there that should have been there(player town organizers),I thought it was extremely rude for the peaple who were there just to up and leave and leave Mesanna and Cecil standing there in that empty room lookin stupid,no thanks no goo`byes, nothing. I can see why it seemed like Mesanna was frustrated at the situation after everyone bailed like that.

    IF Messana wants to meet with people interested in towns on Siege, she should schedule a meeting, and not show up at some stupid random time. It's not like she doesn't know how to contact the reporters or Petra. It wouldn't be all that difficult. Then the people who are actually interested can show up.

    i think the primary footwork is dont be the EM, and then gets approval and is finalized by Messanna. when barter town first applied for township we did it with Quantum, but then he disappeared so we resubmitted with Messanna, and then when Cecil was appointed, she told me that she had referred it back to Cecil, who has been my contact person since. so, if you do forward something to Messanna, i would also copy Cecil, just to ensure that the right eyes are on it at the right time. we are still currently waiting on Cecil, but im sure he is playin catch up right now so we are waiting patiently.

    I was there on friday I coudnt speak about towns or anything cause I was getting the spam message queue if I typed more than one word at a time then I got killed by albertus and shadowspawn because I went grey when I accidentally hit poison macro on Freja. Instead of letting me talk I got rez killed 6 times in luna and gave up. I left saying I guess the ppl at EA dont really care. Hope you enjoy ur junk loot JSV, sorry Chad I really tried to get on them about barter town incorporation :( Im pretty sure the reason they think no one cares on siege is due to both poor event timing on their end and the ppl who show who have no desire to build community on ours.

    She needs to make her home a no war zone meaning no one can flag criminal for stealing or anything that way people can talk without fear of being killed or anything but once shes done make her house normal again OR do everything on these boards because nothing is going to get done when everyone is fighting all the time etc...

    Wait, what meeting about player towns???? Was something posted or did they just randomly decide to show up at Luna bank (seriously at midnight EST?!?!)? I'm typically on at that time, and I don't remember any sort of even in game message going out about it.

    Ahhhh that was you. I was the lil wabbit Mesanna petted,rofl.

    Yea was a shame to see the fighting during a time for discussion. I would agree with Damien about a safe place for such meets. That way all the tomfoolery can be quelled untill the important stuffs over.

    The meeting where Mesanna announced the new EM was supposed to have been advertised in advance here on the Siege forum. It was meant to be an opportunity for the Siege population to voice their concerns about the shard and the producer would be "looking for feedback" on it. But that one was also just announced on the fly.

    You know....
    EM Alcor was good, but short lived.
    EM Quantum, nothing against him personally but he never really did anything - which could have been due to personal time issues.
    EM Cecil seems to be giving it a good go.

    But in all from an administrative standpoint, it doesn't seem to be well organized/developed. The simple fact there is no true back and forth way to communicate with the EMs makes it difficult. I mean I understand why the wouldn't want the EMs to post here, but by taking away that ability how can we truly communicate with them?

    And as for the meetings to discuss the true EM issues on Siege. You can't hold these meetings 'on the fly', how hard is it really to ask one of the Siege shard reporters to put up a post that there will be an administrative EM meeting welcome to all about the towns next Wednesday at 5pm?

    I'm glad EA started this EM program, I just hope it can be better implemented I guess.

    EM Cecil should just talk to whole shard via system channel at least then we can all global chat from wherever we are if not to busy. maybe send a forward to stratics news so we get advance notice here on boards as well for when they are going to be online.

    i was at that meeting on Borg . Borg sat silent and stealthed thru most of it.
    silent because i dont live in a player town . (i live middle o nowhere and like it that way)
    stealthed because for the last few meetings i sat there patiently listening to the moderator(s) while thieves freely plundered my backpack .

    so yeah pete , a known thief went grey in luna . no kidding you got jumped on . he kept killing you cause you kept coming back . he was actually trying to speak about a JSV town.

    maybe you got caught stealing . maybe it was as you say an unfortunate accident , but given the way thieves have disrupted previous meetings im not suprised .

    perhapse they should hold these events in one of their special houses . i would enjoy participating without being constantly rummaged.(and yes a little advanced notice would help alot)

    now i suppose you'll go into some explanation about how thieves have to make a living . yes yes all well and good , but when i have no choice but to hold still and try to be civil , it gets a little old watching people file in , turn grey and leave in a hurry . wrong place. wrong time . especially when your fellow thieves are trying to get a town.

    if you are not a thief i apologize , but as i say , there have been many thieves at past meetings . you going grey in luna ... well its easy to assume and react.
    personally i dont chase the thieves at meetings . i just dont bring anything worth stealing :mf_prop:

    our warriors on the other hand, carry things like sidearms and well yeah they are gonna stomp you if you mess with them.
    we do our best to keep our more trigger happy members at bay , but if you strike first. i um ... cant be held responsible for the carnage that will surely follow.

  34. I don't see why EM Cecil can't post his own communications right here on stratics, it doesn't matter if a few mods or reporters know who he is, it's not a big deal.

    If towns are to be implemented then why isn't he just able to do it? Why does he have to be the middle man? The rules for towns are set already right? So, he can count houses and deem "this is a town' 'this is a village' or whatever. Surely he's already been told what he is/is not allowed to do, so there's no reason to not allow him to just get on with it. Yes, I know he's an Event Manager but if he knows the players then let him banner the towns or whatever it is that's required, he knows who contributes to the shard's overall community already. Why does everything have to be such a big deal?

    Size Requirements and Associated Titles

    * 5-10 Village/Hamlet
    * 11-20 Town {similar in size to Cove, Buc’s Den}
    * 21-30 City {similar in size to Skara Brae, Vesper}
    * 31-50 Kingdom/Empire/City-State {Similar in size to Britain, Trinsic}

    Other Requirements Necessary

    * The Prospective Town must contribute to the Shard’s overall Community.
    * The Prospective Town must petition the Crown for Sanctioning. [Though Communities may exist in Ter Mur, Queen Dawn will still be recognizing them]
    * The Prospective Town must have some binding factor defining it’s member buildings. [Same House Sign, Marker of some sort on buildings like Banners, similar house designs or a theme to designs, etc.]
    * Cannot claim portions of existing NPC Settlements as portions of their town, though if it borders you may patrol those areas. [Meaning If your community was outside Trinsic's walls you could not claim Trinsic as part of your City. You could try to enforce your cities laws in Trinsic although you would be subject to all flagging/guard activities.]

    ** Please note that although the Crown will be Sanctioning Communities this does not mean they will have to follow or abide by common laws against Stealing, Murder inside their Townships, each will be able to govern itself independently, Sanctioning is simply a means to establish Diplomatic status. These rules are subject to Change.

    I also don't see why GM's of guilds can't have a 'private' meeting with him - and/or Mesanna if she has to have the last say - to discuss what they would like for their towns, after GM's speaking to their own guildies about it, and save the fighting for another time.

    It would take very little organisation to get things done this way, instead of the rigmarole with nothing getting done, or haphazardly, or taking months to implement.

    I vote for posting rights for EM Cecil

    Trying to get the Devs to do anything for the shard is pretty much impossible I'm afraid. I've submitted polls for a change to ROT which was overwhelmingly supported by the Siege population, I've written letters, I've even phoned the UO producer to plead for him to do something. Everything has been ignored.

    The letter I sent to the producer suggesting a few things that could help boost the population with hardly any effort on their part was not read. He was not interested in what I had to say when I rang him. I even offered to fly over to the US and present proposals to boost the shard population, but he didn't want to know as "I was just one player and it is important to know what the shard wants." Yet his promise of a shard meeting was not forthcoming (although thankfully it did lead to getting rid of Quantum).

    The players towns that need blessing on this shard are obvious: Barter Town, Gilfane, Iantown, Safe Haven, Stonehaven, Wispwood. If I had been able to do it as an EM I would, but EMs can do little so don't blame Cecil for anything.

    The shard desperately needs some TLC and extra population. But trying to get the Powers That Be to pro-actively help us is just like banging your head against a brick wall; nobody cares or can be bothered.

  37. Exactly Hoffs, which is why the EM ought to be able to implement something that's already been approved (towns etc), unhampered and unhindered. By not giving the EM this courtesy and trusting he will do it properly, is akin to treating him like an imbecile. He could just as easily be called SM (shard manager) who cares what title it is as long as he's active, just give him some power to do what the players want, and act on it promptly.
