In my sneaking around last night I came across a house with a couple of folks inside talking about what a horrible idea it was to make a Siege player a Siege EM. And that "It looks like GIL has their own personal EM now."

I personally have always believed that EMs should be regulars on the shards they EM and a part of the regular player community. Of course there is the issue of favoritism and abuse that can come into play, but I just don't see that as a risk that can be overcome by the EM not being a EM on their home shard. On prodo transfers make that glaringly obvious.

Why I believe a Siege home sharder EM is not only a good thing but a GREAT thing. Siege is a very unique community. The shard regulars that have been here for many years, are a very strong community at the core whether friends, rivals, or like myself more independent. We all eventually interact with each other in one way or another. Over the years these interactions, rivalries and friendships forged a very tight knit group of folks.

As far as GIL or any other guild now having their own personal EM, I just don't see that happening as I am sure it is something that is a concern and will be watched. Love GIL or hate GIL they are the largest most organized guild on Siege and do a lot for the shard. If the EM creates events that most folks enjoy, by sheer numbers alone most of those folks will be GIL guild members ;) To say that will be catering to GIL is just nonsense. It is part of the EM's job to do things that appeal to the broadest number of people.

Siege is different and of that reason, Siege Seers and counselors was allowed to do the job on Siege and play here too. I believe that count for EM's too, however they are not allowed to tell anyone, not even friends and guild members who they are.

I'm happy we got an EM who know Siege and know the past of Siege. I have no idea who he is/was and do not really care. Only thing that matter is how he do the job and I know no matter how well he do it, there will always be someone unhappy and complaining, so I hope he can ignore that and stand on his own feet and not allow any group to set rules for his job. Mesanna is his boss, noone else is.

Lets give him a chance to do the job and not be so paranoid, that we make his job a hell.

Welcome Kincaid, look forward to see, what you will bring to our shard.

Part of me respects Kincaid being open and honest about where his homeshard is. I think perhaps he wanted to assure us that he wasn't some fresh faced EM with no experience of UO and Siege in particular. However... most of me wishes he hadn't mentioned it.

IMO no matter where he is from, no matter how long he has played UO and on what shard(s), there are going to be people who rant about favoritism. Maybe an event wasn't held at a time convenient for them, so blame Gilfane! Maybe a large guild had a lot of players at an event, and so garnered the most rewards. Blame GIL! Favoritism! Axe the EM! Off with Kincaid's head! Sorry to drag Gilfane into this by name, but I have honestly never heard of an accusation of this nature leveled against any other guild, so I feel it is safe to assume the concern over favoritism involves GIL.

As Tyrath said, the guild is large and organised. They communicate with each other and work as a team. This allows them to accomplish A LOT. There is no way to prevent them, as a guild, from getting the most out of any given event. Why would anyone really want to? It just makes you look jealous...

ya, that was something I really hated, [GIL] stands out there as one of the overall best guilds on the shards with really great people that would give you the shirt off their back and not ask for anything in return. I voiced my opinion regarding the attacks on them and other good guilds very openly, and as you said, "Siege is a very unique community" yet there will always be those that feel they are the ones that are unique far more then most and only will scratch your back if you scratch theirs. Take a look at Babydoll's request for green token she was looking to buy them and look out the post man just rode in, there a package in her mailbox from Kelmo. The day I was looking for the Carpenter's table, you gave me one, again no payment expected. Tanager opening up the NOOB guild, I can go on and on its people like this that make this shard unique far more then any other shard in this world of ours!

I am glad we got a siege vet. Maybe our events won't be so fluffy. I'm looking forward to events that take into account the use and limitations of the siege mechanics.

I'm glad to see new communities, guilds and hopeful alliances grow up, that will remove the focus from GIL I hope and give them a little peace and balance the shard.
I have big respect for young guilds as UWSP, O^G, ICY and NOOB putting up events open for the shard, well done.
That do not make me respect GIL less and I love the Auction, The Brit Hub, the way they help returning players recover their lost soulstones, etc.
We are the Siege Community with large and small guilds, with good and evil guilds, we all count.
