Been considering a Europa 'Chicken Fight' season ever since I saw the popularity of the Great Lakes ones, and with battle chickens now here, it seems a good time to start - and thanks to the generousity of O*T, there's an arena ready too, just West of Zento : I'm thinking of running a couple of 'test' evenings in November/December, if there's enough interest after that then a season, through Spring and Summer next year. Since I'm fairly new to taming, and completely new to fight arranging, I'm inclined to the following - but suggestions for changes are more than welcome! Minimum (4? 8?) fights per night (I'm expecting a standard battle chicken fight to last maybe 5 minutes maximum, so there should be time for several, but people should be able to expect some sort of 'minimum amount of activity' per evening). Announce the fight one week before the event, so people have time to enter - although if things go well, there will be a set 'two weekly' scheduled fight. Close applications when we have too many to fit in an evening (if that ever happens!) or one day before the fight, to allow time to post who the contenders are. (Or should there be longer, to let people know if we can't get enough competitors to make an evening's session?) Contenders start from diagonally opposite corners of the fighting area, and the pet owners stay in those corners. I suspect for 'serious' events, we'd see bonded and trained pets (although there other types of fight in mind, see later ) so by default fights to the 'death' may be the rule - but if people want to throw in the towel, I trust the other pet owner will do their best to stop the fight. Requests to stop the fight need to be clearly made (so set up a macro if you think you may need to 'talk' fast!), but there won't be a penalty for anyone who fails to call off their pet due to lag, disconn, or similar. Anyone making a habit of killing 'surrendered' pets will be noted though..... No magical 'enhancement' of pets, with crafty Bless, or similar spells of any type, before or during the fight. Healing of pets, by magic or bandage - not during the fight, since that may make it go on forever! Special events may be possible where a limited number of spells or bandages are allowed, but to begin with we'll keep it simple. Prizes? We'll see.... since I'm far from rich, you may have to make do with a (hopefully!) fun evening and an engraved trophy, but other incentives may become available Other suggestions for fight types have been coming thick and fast - mage summons battles where you get three castings each, various leagues for heavyweight, lightweight and such, open challenge where we use something like a talisman-summoned creature and let pets try their luck against it, 'special' evenings for those pets that use poison or magic... but for now, I plan to start simple and keep to battle chickens. So - who's interested, what needs clarifying or changing, what works from past events you have run/assisted in/attended at? Suggestions welcome.
