No spring cleaning running yet and about the utter lack of any Dev posts lately. All fired??
Don't think so. I know they are very busy, but that's about all I know.
This is what I think is what they are working getting out next...
There is empty space in Magincia. There is room for a bazaar area. And you the player are going to help fill that space.
Over the next few weeks we will be sharing art and information about the continued restoration of Magincia. While we are sorting the plots, and players are settling in to their homes, we will give you updates on the new items that will be available this Spring.
Some of you have already seen the new wallsets on various sites or the forums(I HAVENT SEEN THE WALLSETS HAVE YOU?) … but there is more -- some decorative, some functional.
The first, we’d like to unveil is the distillery
The distillery is designed to allow players to distill and distribute alcohol. This item is something you always wanted for Ultima Online. Players will be able to not only create, but also engrave and name their special brews. So if you ever had a desire to run moonshine across Sosaria … your day is coming!
In the coming weeks we’ll share information on the raised garden bed, gargoyle statues, and even a llama topiary. The core feature that will fill out the bazaar will allow players to buy and sell commodities, as well as feature that will finally allow vendors to sell pets. Check our Facebook page on the next Fridays.
We will also share the high-level design doc with you (as we did with Magincia), and plan to give you least 3 weeks on test center to play and give feedback.
Speaking of Test Center: We will be turning on character copy soon. Character copy is intended as a feature that will allow players to copy one of their live shard characters to a test center. The intent is to allow you all to play on Test Center with a character you are familiar with instead of building one from scratch for each new publish. We hope this will inspire you to come put new features through their paces on test centers.
We as a whole tend to forget the Dev work for a corparation that runs on deadlines being met. I know they are notoriously late at times and usualy running like headless chickens at the finish line. To this we as the consumer have no clue as to how much pressure they are under.
I have noticed of late many of the advertisments from EA be it TV, Magazines, or E-Mail, the Mythic logo is absent.
BioWare is there very prominent, but no sign of Mythic. EA is very much the huge shark in the room, meaning they aquire good companys and chew them up and digest them and those aquired tend to poof into that entity that is Electronic Arts.
To this I tend to wonder if the same that happened to Origins is about to happen to Mythic. BioWare was said to be working with Mythic staff ..... merger?? Redundency?? It's all conjecture but something to think about as you wait for the "Spring".
Besides if you remember Cal's words from the update video... something is in the works.
Well there sure is not that many new cool things to keep me playing like I used to. Spring cleaning would be good it would keep me playing for a while I think. What else do you do when you have all the items & the only thing to keep you going is pvp but even that seems to have died on almost every shard...
Why does anyone think we're going to get a spring cleaning event?? We've had 2 in like 13 years, we don't need another one.
If you have things you don't need, throw it away.
This is probably the only group of people I've come across who thinks they should be rewarded for hitting a delete button.
Actually EA did their Spring cleaning and deposited the Devs in the exchange bin.
The game will be stupid quests forever and new dye tubs. Woohoo.
The Devs were actually working on some dynamic ideas but EA said no and exchanged them.
Im with you. I want to fluffing explore a dungeon with random activity/events and people want reward tickets for some other useless stuff they get for saving useless stuff.
The pixel crack a big draw for some people. It's good marketing to keep the supply lines open so people can continue to pay and play to feed their addiction.
Plus special events keep players happy and paying.
Not to mention all the space used hoarding stuff. I know of people buying storage upgrade codes just so they don't completely fill up their houses waiting for another spring cleaning event.
They have mentioned "updating" the anti-virtue dungeons. It's my hope that they go well beyond that to add new adventure to the game, at some point. That doesn't seem to be in the cards yet, but between that and events that are fast on top of each other with a deep plot behind them, that would be great.
If addiction is judged by how long a dumb animal will sit pressing a lever to get a "fix" of something, to its own detriment, then I would conclude that uo is far more addictive than cocaine
I've built up a tollerance. I can go weeks, or sometimes even months without logging in.
Although, I do keep my accounts open because the new content bug still gets me all excited. Spring cleaning and brewing will both do that.
Maybe they don't have anything to say at this time. I would rather have then not say anything than come out each week telling us about all the grand plans they are thinking about and then a month or two later the plans get changed completly or we never hear about it again. It's like going on a 5 hour road trip with 3 kids and you tell them if they are good you will stop and get ice cream, but instead you get them yogurat (the brand that says will help keep you regular).
To the guy who asked why people think we are getting another spring cleaning event Cal pretty much said that there will be one and that it should start before summer gets here. I for one am looking forward to it because it will be something different to do.
You got it cookie!
To be honest the Dev did say they were if time permitted doing another spring cleaning and Cal did say it would be up by end of spring .... They went so far as to ask what should be added to the collecting list.
This is something I've been looking forward to. sometime before Easter i watched a video of some of them chatting and answering questions. they said there would be Spring cleaning this year and woudlnt say when.. just that it would be before Summer .
I'm pretty sure Cal said there's to be one, but I'm w/ you,I've been trashing/vendoring. Not a lot left now, exc bods & empty chests/boxes
Usually lack of communications from the devs means that they are under the gun for whatever updates they are working on. However at the same time, compared to recent dev teams (or the occasional solo dev that is generally talkative), this current team seems much less open and communicative outside of specific timeframes, articles and events. Granted the times when they ARE communicative, they tend to give us quite a bit to chew on, but they constant flow we had gotten used to is gone in favor of the occasional info dumps.
and there is unraveling that rewards you for deleting something every time you hit it
I have a feeling there wont be word until after the 8th when the easter event runs its course. Patience...thats a virtue that should be added...
Keep in mind that part of the Development Team is Japanese. Given the issues there with no power for several weeks, rolling blackouts since, and a delay in the last publish so that a portion of the Japanese player base would have a chance to participate in the Magincia Lotto, I think a delay is totally understandable.
