I would like to start collecting fragments of Oceania 11 years of history from all of you. From the birth of guilds, wars and alliances, change of guildmasters, events and rares drop, character names and the year they started.

I know this will mean years worth of project, so please contribute what you can. I will have this recorded in uoguide.com as well.

Some things worth discovering, the war of TC and OPK, 3T vs S^R, 2011 xshard war. The rise of ORB, ORK, EOB, PoC, S^R, MDK, KOV, TC, OPK, 3T, ToS, MP, RED, TBD, ToC, III, DP, FEZ, OtOc, OTR, VKR, TAFE(!), and others that worth mentioning.

    Examples:

    Pirates of Cove (POC)
    Established: 4th August 2004
Guildmasters: Lionheart (2004), Amathist (2006), Seth Cromwell (2008), Anne Bonny (2009)
Guild House Location: Near City of Cove, 97o 55'N, 23o 12'W
    Alliance: TBD (2004), EOB (2009)
    Players: Phoebe Harriwell, Oscar, ...

I suppose I'm one of the few people left that have been here since the shard launched.

Not that I have any active accounts atm..

I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have, although my memory is hazy, some of this happened when I was rather young, and was a looong time ago.

  9. It would be good to have something about ORPA in there, if anyone knows what i'm talking about. I'm not sure if the old website is still up but i haven't been able to find it in years.

History of Oceania's pvp after AoS (when i started pvping)?

Well there was TC ebaying items when 4FC came out and controlling most champ spawns, however that changed when Corn, Dal (running SDK) and a few others managed to get 4FC.

    Then faster casting got nerfed.

And the core group of OPK dominated everything for years until everyone left because the game died.

Oh and there was cameo appearances from Avenger and co when stupidly overpowered things came out, such as WoD archers.

No guild/group of people came close to the core members of OPK.

We pretty much dominated EM events (i like to take credit for that part) and we were always first on the shard to complete new pvm stuff that was released when it was worthwhile doing so.

Thank you for the contribution, Petrify.

I am currently working on a website, oceaniashard.com, which will have info collected from online submissions and interviews.

For those who prefer to be anonymous, please send me a private message within this forum. Some updates or clarifications will be mostly done at the main thread at the top, so please ask away and check the top thread for answers.

Oh don't forget LoG, no one probably remembers it, but we had some fun in those days. Formed straight after AoS and lasted for a year or so, The largest and most active guild I was ever part of. Who would have thought Petrify and Draconis would ever have been in a guild with Morrigan :)

If you are after 'artifacts' of oceania and their stories behind them, you would be best to talk to Fink and Lady Kat. From memory they have alot of them.

    But my contribution:

TAFE was started in October 2009. The reason it was started is that Venus and I were sick and tired of PvPing with OPK. The fact that OPK did not listen and was(is?) full of heros. We were second-to-none until SSO made their return. In February or March 2010, Dragod joined our ranks, followed by Malistra towards the end of the year for a number of weeks until we decided to have a break from UO. To this date, we have been beaten very few times in an even fight unless it was by SSO (Even fight meaning 2v2 or 3v3).

We were the first guild to start PvPing with the Navrey Night Eyes and Tangle artifacts.

PvM wise, we have beaten everything up until the High-Seas booster. Since we arent in any need of the new items we dont see the point.

Today, we are semi-active in the PvP community. Our fights are between 3T and S^R who generally outnumber us 3:1 or more. Most of the time we prevail in these fights. It is only when they resort to dismounting us and tamers do they win. Alot of the time, 3T and S^R with stop fighting each other to kill us.

    End.

This do for you Isaac? Need anything just hit me up on msn.

Woah, that sounds like an exact regurgitation of the stuff SSO used to write on the pvp thread.

Here's all I have offhand regarding FEZ...

Fellowship of Enlightenment & Zen [FEZ]
    Established: 2000
    Founders: Feenicks, Fink
Guildmasters: Tripitaka, Mjollnir, Fink the younger.
Original Town: Twin towns of "Fezper", north of Vesper on Felucca and Trammel. (2000-2004)
    Current Guildhouse: Luna West
    Alliance: Oceania

Anything else I could find out. I don't actually have the game installed to check the current roster or anything. It's probably best to get that from the current players.

Some other older guilds worth checking out are BMG and LuT

  21. I was in OrB from 2001 - 2004 and was Huntmaster for much of this time.

We had Monday night pvp sessions around Trinsic and our keep at the swamp north of Trinsic.

We also had a regular Wednesday night hunt.

I remember many of the RP events, run at the time via Chainsaw Knight.

I cant guarantee the safety of using the link below, but it was a site maintained by a guy who made an art of looting others ingame. My particular episode is here.
Episode 57 Jones and his Ogre Lord friends

You'll find many names and much history of that era on that site.

And yes, with the Darkfall server being moved from LA to Chicago, I'm considering whether its worth coming back.

    cheers

Thank you Fink and Marcus, I've posted them up.

Who was the founder and subsequent GMs of OrB at the time? Anyone know the last/current one?

Anyone else know about other guilds? Please feel free to post them up :)
If you guys know at least the founder (and next GMs) of other guilds and the year they start, that would be very much appreciated.

    ----

F################. The only other game that I enjoy, other then UO, is going to become unplayable >_<

This up to your standards Ovr?

  24. Yes Darkfall went from about 180-230 ping (playable) to 260-300 ping (arrgghhh).

On OrB, RAM led it for my entire time there (2001 - 2004).
I can't really speak for the time before and after sorry.

Hi all; wouldn't know if anyone here knows me, but I was pretty involved with ORPA and its' predecessor. I think that was called the Trammell Alliance, but as this was 10 years ago and I was all of 15 at the time...

I was involved at various times with ORK (Bul'Zug), T*F (Adolon) and OtR (can't remember the character I used).

Actually stumbled upon this thread in trying to find people I used to know, it being a decade past and all. I was an (over)enthusiastic and probably annoying kid at the time, but I loved it on Oceania and I loved the community we had.

I actually have a whole bunch of screencaps I took at various times, of both IC events and OOC stuff, if anyone wants them. Let's see... members of ORK attacking the player town of Sanctuary; some kind of fair held there as well; members of OtR in mIRC changing their display nicks to various Care Bears before invading the ORK channel; the marriage of Ryan Angelbane (T*F) and somebody else, I'm unsure who; bunch of random ones.

Anyway, if you want more info, just reply and let me know.

This will be a longish post

    Archive of Fox-Emporium Events [F-Em] 2005-2007

Fox-Emporium Events was a player run event group formed on Oceania Shard to offer player run events for the community. It was formed when Cymoril (Fox Events) and myself, MissEcho (The Emporium shop) teamed up to attempt to take player run events into a new level of professionalism. In addition to monthly auctions and the casino operation, many other events were run for the community. We both created specific characters to 'front' the Event Group, Cymoril created Brenna Fox, I created Eleanora Fox. After a few events, the group was joined by our good friend Constable Fox.

Brenna left the group in December 2006, and Constable in Mar 2007, following the departures, I operated under the F-Em banner for most of 2007 but decided to begin the new yr 2008 under the banner of 'Emporium Vendors & Events [EVE]' with Thane and Avril as support operators. I left the game mid in 2009. It became too hard to get people to 'attend' things such as auctions etc due to the huge drop in player numbers.

As a side note: The three of us also formed the guild CMD Chevaliers D'Maison D'Arque for our 'regular' playing characters. Formed 2004, disbanded 2007. Guild Leader: Tarkus Darkly & alts, Members: MissEcho & alts, Cymoril & alts. Between us we had about 25 odd characters most of which were played weekly.

Monthly Shard Auctions for 2 yrs starting August 2005 until Sept 2007

I have pretty much complete records/screenshots of all events, as I have kept each event report. I also have full records of approx 17 Auctions including what was sold, who too and for how much. For the last 2 yrs I was playing a lot of my time was spent beta testing the EC and putting together the User Guide to help people with the new client: UO Stratics *New* | Enhanced Client User Guide I had previously done a similar userguide for KR. The EC was hosted on my spellweave domain as well as a lot of newbie quest walkthroughs, deco walk throughs, list of collectables and other stuff. All the above was as well as running The Emporium, which was probably one of the most consistently stocked and operated vendor malls with rune library and dye shop used by pretty much everyone on the shard for at least 4-5 years.

Last but not least, I also designed your WBB  Love it or hate it, it is IMO much better than what most shards ended up with even if they didn't build my 'first' choice of the three designs I submitted!

Funniest thing, I think, is given our activity on the shard during this period we always seem to get left off any 'list' of old guilds.

But aren't we all legends in our own minds!

    Cheers

    MissEcho

Ok now that i have remembered the login i made last time i was looking in here.

    RE: ORPA

I used to play Calis Riakel and Veldrin Riakel amongst others and hosted the Grinning Skull Tavern which was a pretty well used forum for the community at the time. ORPA was made up of guilds including FED (Flesh Eaters of Darkmoor): GM - Mr Plod , BMG (Brotherhood of the Mystic Gate)GM: Multani, ORB (Order of the Rising Blade): GM: RAM Dragonborne, VKR (Virtuous Knights of the Realm): GM Ronin, TCV (The Clan of Virtue?) GM: Caliope?, T*F (The Faithful) GM: was i believe Teylana (i know the person still irl but don't remember which of her toons had the stone at the time). Those are the main ones i remember 100% (well except TCV's info) but i am pretty sure we had a few smaller guilds as well including one of the incarnations of Ork *waves to clog*, TBD (The Blue Dragons) and others.

I've just (re)activated to see what (if anything) is left of my account and what sort of state the game is in, so if you have any questions drop me a PM here and i'll try and remember to check back.

Well I don't remember a whole lot about guilds around at the time, but I was one of the first members of ORK, we were an unofficial/semi official off-shoot of the shadow clan orcs back in 2000 or so... (Ug der lat dat gruk dis blah!)
I am not sure what I can really contribute but I must say I do miss the old days of running round rp'ing with fink/feen, visiting druid Allanon's castle/store, hanging out at my good friend Eggy's house behind the yew bank and bank sitting with Bladron.
Ohh and getting owned in pvp because I was still on dialup back when vanq weopons were all the rage and ind/inv armour was all you needed. :p

  36. Hrmm Oceania history too many cans of worms to open up there lol. My earlyst memory on the shard was sitting there listening to AC/DC and being pk'd by Bon Scott and then a few hours later by Molly Meldrum. Turns out both chars were the same guy.

My favourite of all time was the role players complaining about "forced play style" because they got pk'd a few times. But then in cities the same people who complained would refuse to even speak to you unless you role played. Effectively forcing you to use thier play style. Guess they didn't really know what the word forced means.
Sad thing was that some of those same complainers used to mod this forum so disagree with them and be forced off the forum lol.

Ah young Adalon I think I travelled through every dungeon in the game with you, remember collecting all those gems so Helm could make a 100000 gems necklace?
Ryan Angelbane married Sassy, you know that poor woman so desperate for a guy in her life that she married off 4 of her chars to 4 different people. Sancturary was East of Trinsic wasn't it? I've managed to track down a few people from T^F and OPS on facebook too. You forgot Rhianon and Lysanthia. If you didn't know Rhi and Tannus have a kid together now, yes in real life.

As for guilds everybody seems to have forgot about the nicest guild on the shard SoE those guys never caused any trouble like the other rp guilds and never got into the childish name calling like all the others did, except maybe T^F they weren't that big into the name calling etc. I found it so sad that people who write such amazing fiction and background stories for their chars would resort to all that pety insulting when someone said something they didn't like. I mean really what sort of 35 year person insults a person about how they look and where they grew up, such a shame all that imagination wasted...I'm sure you remember who i'm referring to as you listed 2 of them in your post.

Anybody heard from a guy by the name of Furball? Most likely the most decent person on the shard, i even got to share a beer or 2 with him.

    Oh and one more thing
    MOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Hmm felt like procrastanating from study and had a look here for the first time in years and saw this...

    Is that you here Geri?

Anyhow just thought I would mention that if you want facts from the start of OC then you should look at the original guilds like W^C, -E-, One, COB and props to anyone that can remember UBB and the scam they played on a many unsuspecting guild, probabaly one of the best PVP fights in a dungeon occurred because of them.

As for ORPA I was in BMG at the time and have a couple of pics I will try and dig them up.. here is one I just found:

And as for Furball, I remember them from the forum not sure if I ever saw them in game...

Finally, so funny to see you still here Fink, after 10 years? I still remember buying out your shop all the time in game.. or was it Feenick's... ahh so long ago..

  39. Yeah I'm shocked Fink is leaving UO I always thought he was the clue that held Oceania together. Without him the shard would fall apart.

    Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Without being biast. The time that I was in TC (5 years or so) we saved Oceania from X shard invasions about 5x, dominated the champion spawns for the majority of the time (sometimes OPK had some awesome numbers.. or better speeded players). The membership of TC was only ever max 6 or 7 at any time.

The fact that I sold gold/items for AUD$ to most OPK members everytime they came back to UO after leaving would probably sum up the dominance.

The majority of the time that TC didn't dominate there would be 3 way alliances between OPK & minions (can't remember the names of the guilds, 3T is the only one you listed).

    Well well well hello nubs!

Heres some of the guilds I remember being in or have been the GM of.

    BUB
    DKM (1st and 2nd incarnation)
    DP
    KOV
    S^R
    RUM
    OMG
    AUPK
    OPK
    .OPK
    FFS!

There are many others but they are the main ones I can remember right now. It is notable that I am still the GM of OPK and FFS!, even though I no longer play the game.

I could seriously write a book about all my different times in UO, so much fun! From my very early days in 1997 playing on Napa Vally when I used to run away from mongbats and get PKed every 5 mins at BMG, all the way through to being near unkillable in pvp when I was the GM of the most dominant and hated guilds on Oceania.

Since it's the part I most remember and there have been some factual inaccuracies raised about it already in this thread by others, I will talk about my time in the OPK guilds and how I went on to become the longest serving GM in OPK's history first.

I am now the GM of OPK (or would be if I was still playing) but it was not always that way. No, I started my OPK days back in the 'fake' .OPK (Oceania's PKs R Back) guild which was run by the Rons. Back in those days I ran my own guild DKM which at the time dominated the shard with help from our allies 3T. It was around this time that TC started to get much stronger and were putting a lot of pressue on the Rons, Pet and the rest of .OPK who were themselves rising again. It was clear that Morrigan and her charges at TC were becoming way too much for the Rons to handle so they decided to guild many members of DKM and 3T (of which I was one) to help them overcome TC. It worked. Within a matter of months TC had been reduced to a shadow of it's former self and .OPK ruled the shard once again. With hindsight I now see that this was a bad thing as PvP was never the same again on Oceania, but at the time it was a hell of a lot of fun. .OPK had become a super guild with nearly all the top PvPers on the shard.

Fast forward about a year. The Rons get sick of having nobody to fight due to .OPK's huge power so they decide to kick over half the guild out. OMG is formed under the leadership of Hellcat and most of what used to be .OPK join the guild. Meanwhile the Rons had made a huge mistake, they didnt kick Stumpy out of .OPK who then took it appon himself to return the booting favour and remove the Rons from their own guild, which we at OMG (of which Stumpy was a part) found rather funny. This marked the end of the fake .OPK.

Enter Damus, better known in those days as Black Wizzard. At this time I am in the OMG guild and also the GM of OMG's faction guild DKM (the 2nd incarnation). Damus had been given an account years ago with the char True Blue on it who happened to be the last remaining member of the original OPK (Oceania's PKs) guild, which had been lying dormant for many, many years. Well us old OPK guys just couldn't let the real OPK stay there un-used could we? It was time for OPK to rise again, but this time under a new and might I say much better GM, Sneaky Que. At this time OPK joined true brits and replaced DKM as OMG's faction guild. Much time passes...

Faction items are created and suddenly every PvPer wants to be in a faction. OPK replaces OMG as our main guild. Soon after this OMG is disbanded as all members join OPK. Eventually OPK was taken back out of true brits and became a normal pvp guild again, with FFS! (For Felucca's Sake!) joining true brits in it's place with myself as the GM. OPK then dominates the shard in PvP until I decide to remove everyone else from the guild when I stopped playing the game due to lack of PvP and lack of decent ping.

As of 2012 OPK is now dormant. Will it rise yet again? Only time will tell...

If I can be bothered and have the time I will write up a couple more yarns for you Isaac about other parts of my time playing UO.

Clog you know as well as I do that that is mostly BS. TAFE was so bad that Caridi and I thought you were BOW trying to play mages at first. That is until you stuffed it for yourself by all but giving it away that you were TAFE one night on vent. So bad in fact that it doesnt really deserved to be mentioned in a history of UO thread. That isn't a negative comment on yourself either, because you and Venus were decent enough PvPers once Dragod and I had got you out of KOV and trained you, but your guild sucked a fair bit from memory. Remember both you and Venus couldnt bring yourself to leave OPK, I had to kick both of you when you decided to try and crash a despise one night. In fact I never lost a 1v1 fight to a TAFE member even when I moved to wireless internet. Not even Dragod who is your best PvPer got a win over me while he was a TAFE, which says a bit about the guild since we were fairly even when he was in OPK. You would be better off talking about your time in OPK, OMG, DKM and FFS!, you were much better back then and should be proud of your time in those guilds. I would skip going back as far as your KOV days tho, you were a full on nub then in PvP terms as was Venus. To be fair most of KOV was.

This is my old site. Maybe some broken links, but it is from the time where RP and community was part of gameplay. And we were twelve years younger.
It may be before the era that you want to know about.
    Oceania Atlas
The Political Map gives a glimpse into how the ORPA guilds played at the time. (Oceania RolePayers' Association).
    I laugh; let's laugh !
    I miss it.

I have upload some pages from an old website I used to maintain some 10 years ago.
The site was for The Virtue Guard, one of the houses of the Order of the Rising Blade.
This was back in the day when people used to actually role play in UO.

    Hello all,

One of my favorite Guilds was BoM (bowmen of might) - that was fun A guide to be involved with, though did not last long. Our only skills were healing and Archery :p We would sit all together and just cross heal each other. Worked great for a while, but did not take long to other guilds to work out an offensive plan of attack.

Also remember many battle against ONE (either 1v1 or as a guide)

Reading all the above brings back so many memories.

Though any history of Oceania should also include the large protests that were had on Atlantic Shard - Oceania would not have been created if it were not for the actions of many player on Atlantic (and other shards). I did have many screen shots from those days, unfortunately that computer has lone since been assigned to the grave yard :)

After 15 Years there are so many memories ....................

    Thanks Mezz

I find it funny that OPK bang on about how they were the PvP guild of Oceania. That may be true, after PvP was ruined (the launch of Trammel).

Back when the shard was raised the true PvP guilds were

    The Elite (-E-)
    One
    W^C
    TDM

There were a couple more, just I cant remember them. One of the best wars the shard saw was the three way between -E-, One and W^C. Sadly EA screwed PvP and by 2003 the best PvPers the shard had seen left and were replaced with wanna be's liked Pet and Co, who unfortunately didnt live through the era of real skill and precasting.

    Cheers.

The Oceania Server was raised on a Friday night at around midnight we finally got access. Those competitive players built melee characters first (as they cost nothing to build) and raced to Bucs Den as you used to be able to kill the NPC's there and take their pack contents, which had about 70 - 120 gold and the other useless stuff you sold. They respaned quickly and therefore you could raise your melee skills against them while at the same time building coin to buy a house. Also there was about 10 - 20 NPC's spread around Bucs Den. The first guilds to form started sweeping through and killing everyone there.

That first weekend were some fun and exciting times.

Remember their was no Trammel and therefore as soon as you stepped out of a Guard zone you were fair game. So Buc Den was the place over the first weekend to be controlled. The way people went about making money fast was to macro fishing in Town. So the other sport would be to run around town killing those that were unattended macroing.

That weekend people went hard to raise the gold required to then place houses in the best spots.

EA also held a event in Sydney for the launching of the Oceania shard, that myself and two other people (sorry I cant remember your names) were attributed to assisting in getting EA to raise the shard and recognise the Oceania community. I cant remember the name of the web site were we petitioned EA and focused on Oceania communities on other servers. The event was in Sydney at a restaurant under the Harbour Bridge. They flew Designer Dragon (Ralph Koster) out who was the lead for UO back then.

cant believe I actually made an account to type this but. holly crap its amazeing how ill informed all you bloody newbs are. I cant even comprehend that OPK is even mentioned. couple trammers who mass recruited all the newbs who only started pvping at the gate hop. pathetic. only saw 1 person mention any actual pvp guilds (the bloke who mentioned tdm tdk -e- One etc etc alot of One came from pacific some in OPP and DF various others from napa cats chesey etc

anyways whatever point is you cant ask these dregs at the bottom of the barrell for bloody oceania history. its sickening hearing there responses. and im far more concerned for my health having actually looked UO up.

anyways if you ignore all the angsty smack talk there might be a few screenshots from before factions etc but if I remember most I replaced for newer ones

    anyways www.munkeysuo.iwarp.com

anyways you might find some old players on ipy or uogamers but I honestly hope not. UO is like an illness. im just surprised they didnt use it as a wepon to stunt a countrys developmemt. look what starcrafts done to poor korea.
    anyways adios and enjoy
