It's amazing how we all see our own problems through our own narrow view. Note that I'm not attacking you, because I probably tend to do this as well. But your point of:

So the main reason Siege has died out is because of the cost of faction gear? I can probably concur that pvp has died out because of it. I mean there used to be 30-40 people who'd pvp regularly on Siege, it's probably dropped to like 10-15 recently, most likely due to faction gear.

But it's not the reason Siege is a ghost town. Our alliance used to have at it's peak about 140+ characters, 100 in GIL and 40 in CWS. Today it's about 50 and 20, or half. You think the reason that 70 characters in GIL/CWS no longer play is because faction arties are too expensive?

It all boils down to the pvper. Pvpers are the biggest consumers, meaning they need to be heavily supplied. They use more pots, gear, basic stuff than any other character. Without pvpers the farmers, crafters, every other kind of character have no one to sell their stuff to or run from. So when you take out the pvper the economy falls apart. That is one of the main reasons siege is dead!

Your opinion. I know many many many pvm'ers who pvm for the joy of pvm'ing. They don't pvm to sell their wares to other people. They genuinenly enjoy exploring, hunting, or socializing. Pvpers see pvm as an path to pvp'ing. You pvm to get the resources to pvp. Pvm'ers see pvm as the end game.

Yes, pvp'ers use more consumables, so possibly if pvp died crafters might not sell as much. But remember pvp'ers gear just gets recycled. If you die with 20 cure pots on you, someone else just loots them and uses them. If a pvm'er dies with 20 cure pots on them, and can't get back to their body, they're are gone forever and need to be replaced. So it's not as bad as you think.

maybe you dont pvp, becuase Bo does both and Bo uses a hell of alot more stuff pvpin than pvmin. You use a bad example for cures, in pvp you are chuggin pots as much as you can. Pvm you only chug when you have too. Bo plays a sampire for pvm so no need for cures. And pvp gear is usually not recylced as much as you think. Most just toss it or break it down into relic frags. Pvp gear is template, and person specific. What you think of as godly is meer rubbish for better pvpers, hence garbage can worthy.
Your opinions are a bit outdated.

May I add that your opinion looks like swiss cheese.

UO just got it's first expansion in almost 5 years... roughly 6 months ago.

You're telling me that people who love to explore and hunt new ****... just up and left after a ton of new **** and new places to explore were put in?

    That just makes no sense...

    Maybe try again?

I know of a good 30-40 people who have quit in the last year because they are tired of Mythic's refusal to fix known bugs or provide proper customer service to support the shard.

I can't say any of them mentioned faction items at a 5 x 1 silver price as prodo shards as being a reason.

Note : For those using the Faction Versus Non Faction imbalance argument.

PvP has been restricted to Factions for a Long time, Long before The Arties were introduced.

We are factions because we have more targets and the guardzone (Which makes the biggest difference in PvP) Becomes a Non factor.

That's actually what I was going to say is the biggest factor for most peoples departure from this shard.

We keep getting and having to deal with **** that isn't tailored to our shard. The new stuffs cool, but not when it's tailored to prodo and not Siege. PBDs, [blessed] unobtainable items, Instanced dungeons/corpses, broken risk versus reward PvM, gimp templates in PvP (yeah, stealth tamer isn't great on prodo cause of passive detect, but its WAY to OP here.) etc. etc. etc.

More people have quit because of lame ass greater dragon naked stealth tamer PvP than anything else in the last couple years. That should say something right there.

But before I end this post... reducing the cost of these faction items, will help a lot of people who can't compete at the level some of us do... enjoy factions a bit more.

    A. Did I in my post say anywhere that I am only referring to the people who have left in the last 6 months? No, people were leaving this game prior to 6 months ago.

    B. Did I anywhere in my post say anything about hunting or exploring NEW places? No.

    C. Can people enjoy hunting and exploring areas that have existed for many years? Yes.

I'm sorry if you don't grasp this concept, but yes, people actually enjoy hunting, exploring, and socializing in this game. And over the years, many of these people have left, and I'd be willing to bet that contrary to the OPs position, the primary reason these people left is NOT because faction artifacts cost 5x that of prodo prices.

The whole point of the Post i made was from a PvP Perspective.. therefore it should be an Unspoken understood, That I am refering to PvPers and not Crafters / PvMers / RPers / Other generalized people that do not have anything to do with PvP.

Faction arties have been in for what? A year and a half... I'm not sure who's claiming these people left because of faction arties or that they cost 5x's. I think what people are saying is that a lot don't participate in factions because it's too expensive to properly participate so they dont bother since its all about risks and no rewards for them.

Reread what I wrote and think about it. You're not really making much sense...

Which is why it will fail. You are not looking at the bigger picture... In fact, I'd say that you have proven that you are unwilling, if not unable to see the bigger picture.

And here, you are flat out wrong. You and your guild attack those "generalized" people and it is unfair for you to have better equipment. It is an imbalance that shouldn't exsist after all the fighting we have done as a community, to keep things balanced. IE... The PBD issue and blessed 7th anniv. armor. Until you can see the bigger picture and fight for changes that will better the shard as a whole, you won't get anything accomplished.

PvP is in no way, shape or form, restricted to factions. Non-factioners PvP all the time. You have restricted yourself to factions for its benefits... IE... Monster ignore and the ability to PvP without getting counts and having to go red, because you certainly do nothing else faction related unless you need faction points and now for the faction equipment.

In case you haven't noticed, you are on the verge of having NO targets. Unless you start thinking of the shard as a whole, instead of whats best for you, thats exactly what you will have... No one to fight.

    Truth.

I'm with Kat on this! Dante, how could you give yourself an advantage over pvmers by gearing up to the max, even though you'd do the same without faction arties! How dare you!

Im not going to read all the above posts but...

PvP drove siege and more importantly drove its economy. Do you really think PvMs bought regs, pots and other consumables as much as pvp'rs did? Id easily go through 3-4 kegs a day and thousands of regs just pvping alone. Throw in solo'ing doom, spawns, and harrowers thats a TON of stuff.

And let me tell you, if REV/OTF was any indication of a stereotypical pvp'r, we are LAZY BASTARDS. We would pay ridiculous prices for regs, kegs, etc because it meant we didnt have to farm them. Yah we all had alchys, yah we controlled faction vendors, but screw taking the time to get all that stuff.

When siege lots its pvp'rs siege died.

Hmmm... I'm not a pvper, unless attacked, then I either run or fight, depending on the odds.

I don't believe its the cost of Faction Items that has dewindled this shard and most of the others.

I believe it is the real world economy. The kid down the street from me(rl), closed the two accounts I gave him because of money. People have more important things to pay for than a game. Even though it is a really enjoyable game. Just my two cents on the matter.

I didnt say the cost of faction items drove pvp to ****. If you cant afford 10$ a month on a game, you have bigger problems in life. One fast food meal and you got your monthly gametime. T

Perhaps not Arden, I was just saying that rl expenses are probably the real reason we are seeing less people in game.

Its only 10 bucks if you pay for six months at a time, is 15 if you pay by the month, and then around 70 bucks for the monthly internet connection.

I am one of the SP fools, I still have 8 active accounts.
