Faction Stat Loss and Trammel

  1. wasn't there a recent patch that said that we will not experience stat loss once enter trammel? the wording is somewhat cryptic... does Trammel mean all of the facets besides Felucca? or just the Trammel facet?

    either way, it's not working, and i was wonder if this is intended? with this be implemented in the future? the 20 minute wait is horrendous as it is, but doing a quick navery or something would definitely be nice.

    thats not what it means at all....you still have to wait the 20 minutes where ever you are.
    There was a bug out that allowed other faction players to put you in stat in trammel. Thats the bug they fixed. There is no way around the 20 minute wait time that I know of.

    There was also a weird bug where you could actually be put into stat by regular monsters in trammel. I had it happen to me a few times while doing some ilsh spawns.
     
  4. ahh gotcha, i read it differently, but i do see how this could be made to say:

    "players will no longer go into stat loss when killed in trammel"

    thanks for clearing that up

    I actually read it the way you did too.

    When I noticed it wasn't working that way I just decided I didn't care enough to post about it.

    I appreciate that you did indeed post about it, otherwise I'd never have thought it was supposed to work another way; and I appreciate The Deacon's answer.

  6. i agree galen. their writing skill could use some improvement, especially something that offers such a big change as this.

    devs? is there any reason this can't be implemented? when it boils down to it, 20 minutes isn't that long and players don't have much to do, but since we can't log out it would at least give us some incentive to maybe go farm ingredients?

    does anyone actually oppose the idea of stat loss not being active in any facet beside felucca?
     
  7. Faction statloss should be kept to fel,once you go to tram your stat loss should be lifted. If you go back to fel within 20 mins you back in statloss. Untill either the 20 min timer runs out or you go back to tram.

    But to add to that, i all so think that your faction Items should not be usable in tram. Once you go through the moongate to tram all your faction items drop to your back pack.

    Keep factions in Fell and everything related to it. Once you go to tram you can no longer take part in factions, so your faction status should be droped.

    I think it should be the other way. Factions should apply to all facets, like the Order and Chaos system. If you want to use Faction artifacts for pvm, ok fine. But you can be attacked by any other Faction player on any facet at any time. People should not be able to join Factions, grab a Faction Crimson Cinture, and never actually fight someone else in Factions. This would also curb the buying and selling of Faction points. I would wager Faction artifacts were not meant to make Sampires more effective in pvm. They should be earned with player blood and no other way.

    This would also eliminate people parking their character at Luna bank and watching Chappelle show reruns for twenty minutes. I think stat loss should be painful not a twenty minute timeout.
     
  9. superstang, i could see implementing factions in all facets, but the land mass is so large and i don't think the banksitters like the idea of PvP happening where they are. it would probably be better to make it so players cannot equip faction items anywhere but felucca to avoid things that you suggest. however, i agree with your standpoint, people shouldn't be able to join factions and reap the benefits of the gear without actually being an option to fight.

    I played in the Order and Chaos system. While there were occasional fights at West Britain bank, they were by no means constantly disruptive. They were quick when they happened and usually entertaining. Some people will not step foot in Fel and are therefore never exposed to pvp, so I think it even has potential upside if even one non-Factions person thinks "that looks kinda fun". However, the Order and Chaos was not nearly as big as Factions since the only benefit to Order and Chaos, other than adventure, was the ability to wear Order and Chaos shields. So Factions could be more disruptive at banks, it depends on the shard really.

    Concerning your stat loss bypass request, it depends on whether or not you think stat loss is intended to be an actual player penalty or only keep people from jumping right back into the Faction fight at full strength or both. I think stat loss is both. If you want to keep faction fighting, you can but you are at reduced effectiveness.

    If stat loss was intended to be a time-out, the timer would would continue even if you logged out. It doesn't. It is meant to be painful; a penalty for losing. Which is also the reason I think forged pardons are just wrong. Pardons bypass the penalty for murder.

    I disagree, respectfully, about the ability to go pvm at full effectiveness during stat loss. I still think the Faction ruleset should apply to all Facets for Factions members. And for the record, I spend plenty of time in stat and I fight in Factions solo.

    you have some great points and it brought me back to when i first saw a thief disarm steal a vanquishing war hammer at britain bank back in the pre-AOS days. i immediately made a thief to copy this concept. i would agree, more pvp exposure should definitely increase the pvp population. factions across all facets would definitely bring back that old dynamic of towns being relevant pvp locations, rather than the houses at the moongates (which i am all for).

    i can see why you feel that dying to a faction member should be a penalty across all boards and not just to remove the player from felucca action. i do not often solo pvp in stat loss, as i know i am at an extreme disadvantage, but i will help heal other friendlies while i'm in stat.

    in the end, i think if we bring factions to all facets, it would be best to have relevance of actually being in those places. double kill points and double silver come to mind for kills in town, (i'm not sure why they removed that in the first place) but maybe if there was a daily quest to get a number of faction kills in a town in order to complete the quest for a small reward (points, silver, unique titles that decay over time? example: Protector of Luna)

    i know all these are minor additions that don't really fix any of the bigger problems with factions, but it would definitely spice things up just a tad.
