Fame?

The stratics chart on fame and titles here shows the fame levels from 0-10,000 and in the hunters guide says a nightmare is level 5 14000 fame, so how do these numbers matchup? I know from hunting for fame to sacrifice that it takes approximately 75 nightmares in Fel to go from zero fame to Lord. That taken into account mobs in Fel are 2X fame and karma a nightmare would be 28,000 fame multiply that by 75 thats 2.1 mil pts in fame. I do know that fame is susposed to scale as you get higher but I have never gotten any message other than "you have gained a lot of fame" from them, even well after hitting Lord. So does anybody have a clue how the numbers add up????

I do not fully understand the question.

But I am close to sure that the "fame level" is not the fame you receive when you kill the monster, it is just the fame level it is at. I am not sure how stratics defines the fame level, as no one honestly can know the exact number of fame a monster has? I could be mistaken about that but I can not think of any way to know how much fame any mobile has, player or npc alike.

As per your example lets try to explain it a different way, the fame of the mob is not double just the fame you receive. Under simple math we could assume that you get 10% of the fame level of the monster you killed, in this case it would 140 fame, now if you are in fel you can double the received amount to 280 multiply by 75 and you get 21,000. Well, ok obviously its not 10% of the fame...maybe 5%? or some random number such as 8%, I personally do not know the exact math but my example should still clear up how the numbers work out.

Frankly, based on my own experience of farming the toughest monsters in the game, fame is not taken in a literal sense as you have calculated it. I'm sure it is a complicated calculation that involves square roots and weird things of that nature.

After all it still takes a few balrons to go from nothing to glorious lord. That's considering that those give max fame and karma...as shown in the link I gave.

Also in an old link I have from the similar charts some years ago, fame is not necessarily doubled just because fighting in Fel. Personally I achieve fame at about the same clip.

Fame gains are indeed enhanced in Fel. If you farm a creature in Trammel until you stop gaining the stuff, you can continue gaining off the same creature by changing facet.

This is also true for Honor.

I had been across that link before but never realy paid attention to the text at the top. After reading that I have a better understanding of what is going on. It looks like we get a .5%(approx) max of the fame level of the mob we kill in Tram and a 1% in Fel as long as your fame level does not exceed the mobs you are killing and as your fame level closes in on the mobs you get a lesser fame return mabey "some fame" means .25%. So Cloak I think you were almost dead on in your assesment, I just don't think the received fame is random. I think it is hard coded to give a certian % given your fame level vs the mobs.

Ah nice point...I missed the percentages. I do agree with you. You receive fame in relation to what your current fame level at the moment in time you're fighting, versus the fame level of the mob you are fighting. I concur with you.

Yea, I didn't know the exact numbers and rushed to answer you because I had to go to the store (was missing a spice for dinner) so I just put it in a very simple sense and did not try to complicate the math.

I bring my dragon to Painted Cove and let him loose killing the Trogs.

From trustworthy to Glorious Lord less than an hour. After which I do the Sacrifice on Fame with a Lich Lord.

Don't really know whats the beef on this? As in my case one simply gives what he take in terms of FAME.Fel PvP players really dun give a hoot on Fame and would prefer an infamous reputation based on the type of game they do which is really the difference compared to trammies like me.

Don't understand what you are trying to say. He was only asking how the math works with the numbers, 10,000 fame points is what it takes to be lord. a Nightmare has 14,000 fame points.

As for the Fel/tram argument You get more of everything in Fel because of the innate danger that someone will kill you. So the pvp people might not care about the fame, but it affects them because it brings more people for them to kill to fel simply to get the higher fame reward. in fel your hour in painted caves is about 20 mins in fel painted caves =p

My old paladin could still get fame gains on Trogs at Painted Caves, even at Glorious Lord. Not every one, but there'd be a gain every 6 or so. Demons at the hedge maze and Temple also gave gains as well.

In tram you can get to lord at painted caves just fine, but in fel even at lord you still gain "a lot of fame" but I am sure this thread was not meant for finding out where to get fame it was just asking how the numbers work.

  13. Are you talking about Honor or Fame? All creatures of the same type have the exact same fame level, but it is possible to not get an Honor gain from one but get one from another due to the strict parameters you have to follow when killing a monster that's at a marginal point with your own Honor level.

That would be honor and at around follower of honor about the 6th circle...yes you would not gain any more on honor. You would have to move to a higher tier of mob in order to gain beyond the 6th circle. That is where most people get stuck and never end up hitting knight of honor.

As far as fame though...it takes a long time depending on what you are fighting, before not gaining on said mob every fight. I mean...you really have to know when you have a bad streak and die 4 or 5 times and still have the Glorious Lord title.

It is how Connor explained. Honor you can have a definitive number needed in order to gain 1 circle. Only certain mobs will give certain levels on honor. e.g. Some mobs that you can gain perfection on you will not gain honor on.

Fame though as long as they're all maximum fame (level 5), which if you look at the links given...there are a slew of monsters fitting that parameter. There is per say no definitive number needed though given that some monsters are more difficult than others. Consequently, its difficult to pin down "that" number without knowing the exact calculation.

When the "unique" monster stealables were introduced (eg Gem of Salvation etc), a new way of looking at fame was mentioned:

Supposedly there are 40 "levels" of fame, and the 40th is at 30,000 points. However, what's not mentioned is whether the progression through the levels is linear. Level 20 might be 15,000 points... Or it could be a lot less.

I assume only certain Paragon creatures would qualify for level 40, though for all I know a Para Bally would be above 30,000... By all rights it should be!!

Though in my experience, all the odds mentioned about how fame affected your chances of actually stealing something decent are rubbish... Though I'm going off on a tangent now...

Fame ... like in "you have gained a little fame" type.

No ... NOT honor. My Pally had not one whit of Honor to his name but got "a little fame" every so often on Trogs - at Glorious Lord.

Well Trogs in my book are as difficult as ogre lord. Which would be say 15000 at LV5 fame. Consequently mobs like Balrons which give 24000 would still give you messages like, "You have gained a lot of fame."

Is it true that you get double the karma gains in Fel? I think you only get double the fame gains.

Yes it is both double fame and double the karma. It was supposed to be a ploy to people that didn't like Felucca in order for them to go there and fight mobs.
