Fishing and Drinking...

I just recently got the High Seas booster and am loving it. Also bought an Advanced char for fishing, my fishing was lost on a soulstone s few years ago :/

I am closing in on gm fishing and see in the near future dungeon fishing. Since my fisher is not all that tricked out gear wise I don't think I will be attempting this solo. Is there anyone interested in getting a small group together to do some dungeon fishing and maybe even some net tosses in the future?

If all goes well maybe we can make some weekly event out of it and have some fun.

For general dungeon fishing, I'll tell you my favorite spot, that is 100% safe to fish from, and only requires one bit of running.

    1. Go to the Underworld entrance on Fire Island. Be sure to be riding a giant beetle for this, to haul your fish home.
    2. From there, proceed as if you were entering the Abyss or going to Navrey, through the secret doors, and across the chasm with the teleporter. But STOP after crossing. (you'll have to outrun several rotworms, and possibly a blood elemental, but if you're mounted you can outrun them easily).
    3. This puts you between the ruins of the broken bridge you teleported past and the Abyss entrance.
    4. Go back to the broken bridge. Look down in the river. In the river is a single block of stones between the cascades. Use the teleport spell to go to that stone tile. (from scroll if you have 0 magery - humans are 76% to cast it from scroll at 0 magery, and elves & gargoyles are 25% to use from scroll - humans are 25% to cast from book, if you have the regs or LRC).
    5. Once there, dismount from your beetle, and start fishing - you can hit two resource squares from there (a crappy one to the north, and a good one to the south), and even place 8-10 lobster traps if you like, but getting to 10 traps takes a lot of trial and error on the layout (there's a underworld-specific crab down there that requires 110 or 120 fishing, plus the usual types).
    6. when both sides are fished out, remount the beetle, and you can teleport underneath the south end of the broken bridge, and hit two more spots (one good to the north, one to the SW that is one of the worst spots I've ever fished). The rotworms and elemental might be able to sense you, but they can't attack anyone down there from above (nor can you teleport back up to that side). When those fish out, get back on the beetle and teleport back to the original spot, as the resource square will have refilled by then.
    7. Go back and forth, till you and the beetle are full. Then Recall home.
    Tips:
    • Cut up the mud puppies and red herrings, unless you need one for the underworld quests. The Fish steaks are worth library turn-in points, maybe even cleanup points.
    • Always remember to get back on the beetle before teleporting, otherwise you'll either have to log in and out to retrieve it (it will block teleporting if left behind), or recall out (in which case it will go with you, if bonded)
    • you can also get footwear down there, so bring a bag, find a place to drop it (on the edge of the northern water across from the stone tile), and just drop all the footwear in it, unless you're filling footwear bods with them as you go. On the bridge underside, you can do the same with a second bag, or just drop them on the ground (the footwear won't interfere with the teleporting).
    • Silly fish trick - The fish that look like the pre-High-Seas fish have a bug related to that connection. They weigh 10 stones each, but if you have a pile, you can pull one of them off, and it will weigh just 1 stone. You can then drop the original pile on that one, and all of them will weigh 1 stone. You can then move the stacks into your beetle to fit even more fish than the normal 160 into the beetle. It works the same way for keeping them in your pack, but when you recall out, the fish revert to their original weight in your pack (no effect on the ones in the beetle), so you might be massively overweight after exiting. This works for all 3 fish categories, not just dungeon fish of that type. Examples include Lurker Fish, Orc Bass, Snaggletooth Bass, Haddock, Bluefish, Red Snook, Black Seabass, Uncommon Shiner, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, and Shad, if I remember correctly.
    • If you don't have magery with high eval, keep one of the Truly Rare Fish you fish up (eat all the other small fish as you get them, to save space), and eat it near the end, to get a few more fish. One of those fish is equivalent to a Strength spell cast by a mage with GM Eval. Or, you can take a Strength or Greater Strength potion, but that requires more effort (and leaves a bottle behind).
Here is the location I am referring to - A is the spot that I teleport down from to the fishing area, and B is the target block on the bottom of the picture. C (the LOWER block by the letter, not the column) is where to teleport to for the second fishing area, though you might need to go over two more steps to get to the really crappy area. If you want to go turn in one of the quest fish (or to fish off the bridge to the Gray Goblins), you can teleport back to A, or to the top of the big column at C then back to A, to return to the Abyss/Navrey side.

Defiantly. Lots of spots in Malas for stuff, unless your thinking Keep or Castle.

I believe he's thinking Trammel, on a coastline somewhere (was it water to the south or west that you were looking for, Wolf?)

Try looking just outside Cove (may not be big enough for your needs), the coast from the Covetous guard tower over to the swamp, and the peninsula east of East Britain.

Okay wolfy and for Delin Quent, I have a island home in Tokuno that i use for FCB fishing only, has a very large personnel rune library set up, and there are a few of us who do a lot of fish trades here and there, Mainly Jeremy and Fey. We have chests set up for trades, exchanges etc - all honor system. I will gladly friend you guys if you wish to the house so you can use it and join in on the trades and such. As far as suits goes, what template are you running cause i will gladly make you a nice fisherman suit -= wether its archery or magery i have more then enough laying around to make you a good imbued suit.

Hit me up on ICQ at 69763323 or yell for Symrustar or Belshazzar in chat!

I found a few spots and gave the runes to Wolf to check out for houses, I think he ran into the timer problem for placing. But the offer sounds great Bels. Since I'm still working fishing I haven't figured out what specific boosts on a suit for my archer I am in need of. He's got chiv and is an elf, I am having no probs whatsoever atm with dss's and serps, but mana and mana regen might be a problem in the future. The whole imbuing thing has me somewhat confounded - lol. All the boosts are kinda confusing. Most of my playing was pre sam empire. I have never really embraced the new trend of 'uber' tricked out sampire templates or mixes of stuff to become the ultimate solo machine

Dungeon fish can also be caught in the mushroom cave outside twisted weald, no spawn at all either there or on the way there.

Bels has convinced me that his location would be best for the FCB, and I think he really wants to run the FCB on LA now. He's got a really nice island which is pretty much perfect for this. :)

Cool. I knew Bels was pretty well off from years ago running 7-11, which I miss :( But a whole Island! Will get in touch with you Bels on IQC.
