    Scalis - ASOS, fish it up (White Net), Throw White Net, Kill Scalis (no easy task) = get Squat
    Medusa - 4 Eggs, and if you are insane go in without Gorgons, if not crystals, scales, gorgons, Medusa, not as hard as Scalis but more difficult than level 3 or 4 covetous, or the new desppise and = get Nada
    Charibdis - one of the most insane to get bait for, waste bait, Kill him (Very Painful) = Crap but a simple usless piece of armor Come on?
    Corgul - not to hard to find him but still takes time and resources, kill him and his army = get squat

    Despise - conscript a critter (no skill at all) and about 50% drop PHFFT
    Cora - why bother her arties drop on level 3 or 4 total joke

    Ah my rant for the day

    I guess I agree with most that save a couple things Medusa.... not that hard...

    And you must be very lucky to get a 50% drop on Despise since I've still NEVER gotten one.

    On runs with just me and friend at despise one of us gets a drop bout 50% of the time, we have gotten 3 drops on one run(got a drop from the wisp once). I agree Charibdis is a HUGE waste of time when you figure how long it takes to get the spyglass and bait and summon him. That doesn't include how long we spent killing him until we figured out to keep our boats from being pushed back.

    at the very very least they could throw a few magical fish finders onto charby,
    corgul already is supposed to have a set number of drops, although i think SoTs off the boss count as drops so can water down the amount of arties ya get at.
    medusa/stygy/slasher all seem to have an ok drop rate, at times it can seem to little but its usually a RNG thing
    most experiences ive have and heard from friends in regard to Despise, drops seem fine if not too heavy.
    scalis could use a bump up

    over all itd be great if they could do a quick round of adding at least one new artie/drop to each of the peerless/bosses. theyve talked about planning on redoing doom/peerless/champs drops i believe but perhaps they could do a quick add of an item here n there.

    Medusa - So easy people solo it 90% of the time. Drops are fine, rate is fine
    Corgul - Again, very easy - Drops / rate are fine
    Despise - Easy - Drops/rate are fine
    Scalis - Hardest one on the whole list - But again drops / rate are fine

    Now the problem ones

    Charybdis - I have no problem with needed the oracle/bait, but the reward is horrible. Encounter is easy, but everything else is so absurd for such a little reward. Add something cool to it, not just fishsteaks and a piece of useless armor.

    Cora - The issue is rewards - Why bother to do her when you can get the artifacts faster and easier from the spawn


    Realistically, lets look at this from a standpoint of value
    A: Are the drops rare enough that the topend rewards still hold value?
    B: Does it even have drops that HOLD value?

    Truth be told, while some people do these encounters for fun...Most do it either for an item they need / or want to sell.

    (I wont be including any drops below 10m)

    Medusa:
    1. Slither - Value ~ 175m (Most usable artifact/pvp desirable of any boss)
    2. Medusa Floor Tile - Value ~ 20m
    3. Medusa Statue - Value ~ 15m

    Corgul:
    1. Field of Blades - Value ~ 40m
    2. Ring of the Soulbinder - Value ~ 30m

    Scalis:
    1. Small Soulforge - Value ~ 100m
    2. Enchanted Coral Bracelet - Value ~ 40m

    Despise:
    1. Despicable Quiver/ Wing Armor - Value ~ 15m and Decreasing

    Cora / Covetous:
    1. Prismatic Lenses - Value ~ 10m (Human, much lower for garg)
    2. Hephaestus - Value ~ 20m (Human, much lower for garg)

    High Prices Explained:
    Scalis - While he is a difficult encounter, his drops remain in the same value range as most others. The Small SoulForge has become a 100m item due to its use. Having a 1 tile soulforge compared to the gigantic other option, helps this item spike in value.

    Medusa - An extremely easy encounter, who only abnormally high priced item is the Slither. This is not due to the Slither being so rare, but just because of A: Lack of good talismans B: The useful mods C: It being a BIG pvp item

    Again, you NEED stuff to hold value to make people WANT to do it. Most boss encounters still have ATLEAST 2 items that will hold between a 20m-30m price. What bosses show a clear lack of value?

    1. Charybdis
    2. Dread Horn
    3. Doom ( Out of 33 artifacts, only 2 hold above 10m value )
    4. Stygian Dragon
    5. Cora (Shes not even needed to get the artifacts)

    Grey Area:
    1. Despise (Brand new, and rapidly declining value. Only item that seems will have sustained value is quiver)

    I think the drop-rates are fine for a solo player however...

    I think luck should improve the drop rate significantly if you're in a party, the parties Total luck should increase the drop rate even further... I believe that most of these peerless/champs are soloed, and the reason why is because If something drops the person soloing it is guaranteed the drop.

    I think this is how the current system works - Example - The champ has a 10% chance to drop an item, if there is one person the chance of getting the drop is a flat 10%...
    If you go in a group with two people the drop rate remains at 10% But only one person can get the drop... So basically this would decrease Your chance of getting an item by 50% lowering it to a 5% chance for you and the other player participating in the encounter, <------- IF this is how it works, This system isn't made for groups, its made for the soloist, and should be changed to promote group play.

    I do think that the SA Peerless' are setup with the system I attempted to explain above.

    I know this is not how the despise or covetous encounter is.. because multiple people can receive the same or other rewards as a direct-to-pack drop

    I do however despise farming for keys to fight some peerless', these have timers... sure, that's fine. but they don't drop enough imo. Especially when the drop is named after an organ which the monster needs to stay alive... Example - Irks Brain... How does Irk NOT drop a brain 100% of the time?

    If the key items to fight these peerless weren't such a pain to farm then I'd have no problem with any of these.
    of course making these keys drop more often or even 100% of the time will probably lower the current value by making the boss more easily accessible.

    The drop rate is fine. I think we are all victims of something else.

    I think we need to look at this from a different view point.... NOW, some of you might know where I am going and I know its been brought up but I believe that fixing this one issue will resolve most of the loot drop inconsistency issue.

    FIX the RNG (aka get a new one that works)..... Yup I brought it up again. You know I am right!

    Or if that is not a possibility, then here is a simple solution that has proven to work.

    Implement Doom's point system to all boss loot drops in game?

    Instead of adding new bosses, I think they should seriously consider the existing bosses. Maybe add in a counter to see how often a boss is getting summoned and killed, then base the rewards on that level.

    - Charybdis needs a complete rework on rewards and summoning
    - Meraktus the Minotaur needs to be converted to a proper champion spawn.
    - New crafting recipes need to be created to make use of common peerless ingredients (muculent, corruption) and unused peerless drops (stygian dragon head, slasher's claw)
    - Each peerless should have at least 1 rare drop that people want to obtain
    - Champion Spawns need to be reworked (Already addressed by devs). They should be analyzed for difficulty and prized accordingly.
    - Doom Gauntlet's basic loot needs a change (Maybe to shame quality loot). Many of the artifacts need to be reworked. Consideration for other races, such as elf and gargoyle as well.

    Meraktus already has rewards - 1. Tormented Minotaur Statue which is about 30-40m. + The vases / other replicas.

    And as per my other post, I have identified the top drops for every boss, and which ones don't currently have something that holds substantial value, thus removing an incentive to do said bosses. I did not include champ spawns as they all have value IE PS's and Replicas.

    I was unaware of that drop. Regardless, the minotaur spawn should still be converted to a proper champion spawn, providing titles, a gold drop and an altar.

    Promathia: What shard are your prices? Some of them appear insane. Seen many of these items for HALF of your price on Drachenfels... Examples: Tangle 9-10 Mil., Crimson 15, Prismatic Lenses 6-8, Hephaestus 6-10. And so on...

    However, I agree to most points. Except the High-Seas-Bosses Charybdis and Osiredon. Both way too much work, too low Fun-Level and too rare/useless Drops.

    first of all your poll is a little bias. 2nd of all do not fix drop rates on Peerless that are currently on Farm ether manual , or scripted.... Yes lets make every time you down Medusa drop her statue, the slither as well as her floor ? geez

    while i respect the idea that the drop rates on the most sort after arties remain rare, i would not be against a bump in the drop rate of some sort. i cant tell you how many despises i have done and have never gotten the 4 intel boots. same for the sash or glad collar. i dont think the slither ever drops tbh.

    i solo slasher pretty regularly and have only gotten 1 lavalierre and have about 200 runs in and counting.

    I have done over 800.... with no Lavalier from Slasher so consider yourself lucky. I use 3 accounts to maximize my chances and still nada so if you are using 1 account .... yeah at least the RNG likes you.

    (easier to tolerate since you get pinks ect along the way and the drop rate seems fair)
    Scalis - Hardest one on the whole list
    (1/40 drop rate for a soulforge)
    Covetous- why bother?

    There needs to be a system like Doom where you accumulate points for the major artifacts otherwise wtf knows when you might get a drop or never! Many wasted hours of grinding

    From what I have seen most sellers use 3rd party sites that cannot be mentioned to dictate what they list there items for. If it does not sell at that price then they lower it.

    I completely agree with the drop system(not including despise) promotes solo gameplay, which counters the Devs moves to continually nerf strong templates.

    I recommend the following changes:
    -Everyone who causes damage/provides healing/discord gets a chance for a drop - (so instead of hating helpers, the more the merrier)
    -Don't change the drop system or have accumulated points, but have luck play a more prominant role in the outcome(maybe a 1000 luck gets you an additional 25% bump)
    -Adjust the peerless/champion loot to fewer in number(maybe 10 pieces), but have a significantly lower chance of negative Mods(increases people, now in groups, of doing champs/peerless)

    I also believe that not all bosses should need 2 Greaters and a ton of healers. I like the challenge of adjusting my Sampire template to solo bosses. The Devs need to embrace the solo templates we are using today and make Artifacts that would help us along our path. They could even be tailored for solo templates but only really applicable to a single situation/boss. 90% of the items out there now are only good for turn in. Bosses should be challenging but not a time grind. And stop putting that damm tainted lifeforce and teleport on bosses ********.

    This is so wrong. I play UO for fun. I think the drop rate for a Lavaiere should be approx 1 in 50. For the ammount of time required to beat Slasher that would be a fair reward rate.

    My biggest problem with the drop rates is that there are massive inequalities across the boss drop rates. I see the champ spawn as the basic drop rate. It takes approx 1 hour to solo and gives 6 scrolls (alone). They may be all 110s or you might get lucky and get a 120 or two and a replica. And then there are other bosses that take the same amount of time and typically you get nothing most of the time and then once in 100 you get the drop you desire. The two drop rates seem incongruent to me. It is no wonder I spend most of my time spawning, even though they haven't spruced those up since they added the replica system a few years ago.

    Yed and no...unless I am mistaken, there is only 1 drop per Champion. Yes all have a chance....but my point was that there should be a drop chance for everyone there, so if there was 3 people at the spawn, and the RNG hiits right, there are 3 drops. So it won't really be that big a deal if someone stumbles on your spawn and starts helping.

    actually from what i see the whole tone of this thread is its fine.
    I use to farm medusa about 3 to 4 times a week, it took me around a month to get the floor, the statue as well as the slither... /shrug I dont think it needs to be adjusted at all....
    Slasher is a little crazy, hard fight with very low return Ill give you that. I can walk around Luna on my shard and I see 3 houses with the medusa floor and plenty with the statues. I don't think every single plot in the game should have the floor. Also Medusa is simple If i want I can knock out 10 of her in a day... she is only a 40 minute encounter at the max with a 1/2 way decent thrower. /whatever...

    Also you wana talk about bad drop rates, lets talk about Travesty masks....... I run that all the time and have yet to see a single mask...

    In general I agree with this statement, but think the devs should keep in mind the goal of any change to the game should be to keep players having fun. We need encounters that require group play and cooperation, but having high level encounters which can be engaged solo should not be eliminated completely.

    Yeah well i play on a shard that never has active people on that that wana do a bunch of peerless runs, the RP people do like one attempt and then that's it. So for me to run peerless ( which is what i like to do in game ) it basicly requires me to solo... ( unless i wana log in only on friday to do one peerless and stop for the week.... not fun ) . These anti-solo comments, I could jump on board with them if the population of the game was fitting to a level that i could amass a good peerless group daily....

    Also dont suggest i move shards, I am not going to move to atl where a keep is over 300 million gold. Especially when i have a castle and 2 other plots and a whole slue of crap i don't wana have to replace...

    I think the problem is not so much the overall arti drop rate with any particular boss, it is that there are far too many useless artis cluttering up the drops. I see two viable alternatives to changing the drop rate:

    First would be to award an arti redemption token instead of an actual arti. Similar in nature to a heritage token, this would be redeemable for any artifact from said boss. So a Medussa token would let you pick from any of her drops be it a slither, floor tile, statue, etc.

    Second option would be to implement a Tokuno style turn in system and classify each bosses drops as major/minor. Still using Medussa as an example... You could still get a slither as a drop but you could also turn in say 20 stone dragons tooth and claim a slither.

    I'll say it again... The Treasures of Tokuno turn in system is by far the way to go. I'd love the ability to turn in 10 of any artie for a pool of items to choose. There could be multiple redeemers so you could have a way to turn in SA arties, another for ML arties, another for High Seas, and another for AOS/Doom arties. For ML there is already a natural split between minor items from named mobs and the majors which are peerless drops. SA would need tweaking because the mini-champ drops would be the minors, but they drop too in frequently. Plus, some of the mini-champ items are better than the ones the bosses drop (i.e. Animated Legs of the Insane Tinker vs Mangler for example). High seas might not qualify for it's own turn-in system and should be merged with the revised dungeon drops or the anti-virtue drop system. The anti-virtue drops definitely need a turn-in system. And for AOS items from Doom and T-maps, those should just be sorted as minor vs major. In my book, the majors are the Ornament of the Magician, Spirit of the Totem, Hat of the Magi, Jackals Collar, and Armor of Fortune. Of those those could be tweaked. Oh, and we should permanently turn on Treasures of Tokuno with the original drops and give an updated set of Majors. I would love to have another go at a Tome of Lost Knowledge or some of those original 50 count pigments.

    Bring it on! We don't need a new system. We just need new implementation of the ToT system for other drop types.

    There are actually few major issues that are quite discouraging for legits players (if there is still any besides myself).

    1. The UO high sea bosses spawning method are just insane (talking about Scalis and Chardybis) Corgul is still acceptable, if you are trying to do this with your legit hand to get all those resources, you MUST be kidding me...

    for example white nets... don't tell me you play legits to fish up 100000000 SOS bottles and then get those white nets... BULL CRAPS!! That is why, I have never summoned one. I have actually never seen that Charybidis guy except on Youtube once.

    2. The Af drop rates are just insanely low and discouraging. This actually happens to everything EXCEPT Doom. I really liked how the point system works for Doom.

    I don't mind Powerscrolls work like the way they are right now. Because everytime you kick a boss butt, you would get 12 immediately (or 6 if you don't have a protector or the protector is not Knight). But at least you know you're getting powerscrolls everytime whether it is all 110s.

    But system like for example, Renowned champ spawn, i could sit there for 2 hours each day and 7 days a week straight and not a single AF from the mini champ spawn.

    I could of hunted over 100 Medusa total and not get a single useful drop (such as the ground tile, statue or the slither)

    I think for these items, it have to work like the way of the doom which when that character or account have reached a # of point, they will have 100% chance of getting a useful af drop (such as the statue, floor tile, slither) if we take Medusa as an example.

    And other bosses such as the Slasher etc.. should be the same.

    Extremely helpful discussion that proposes tons of good ideas! Thanks to everycontributor. Here my 5 cents after reading all this...

    Navrey: Easy fight, nice stuff, drop rate is okay (even though I was a bit unlucky the first 300 Navs :D). You need some luck and you definitely will get your Tangle. IHMO: No change necessary!

    Slasher: A bit harder fight but manageable. Can be boring on the long run - takes too long to bring him down. Nevertheless a good boss with some absolutely useless items and some really nice items. Droprate could be lower for the useless ones and higher for the goodies :D. IMHO: Could be changed a bit.

    Medusa: Easy and funny fight, nicely designed boss encounter, tons of common drops of which at least the bow is useful for some templates. Great major drops, which are a bit rare. But I have seen people getting the floor (nice!) and the statue (completely useless to me, would give it away - crap item). Never seen a slither dropping. IMHO: No change necessary!

    Stygian Dragon: Insane fight, funny place, nice design. Many minor items of wich some are quite useful. The spellbook is nice! IMHO: No change necessary!

    Primeval Lich: Great place, nice design, good drops. IMHO: No change necessary!

    Mini-Champs in the Abyss: Depends on the champs. Overall a very nicely designed place down there with many challenging encounters. Got most of the arties I wanted within a reasonable time - except the Tinkerer-Leggins, took about a year... However, soloable, which is nice. IMHO: No change necessary except for the Ancient Lich Renowned wich simply takes to long (due to the Skeletal Lichs).

    Osiredon: OH MY GOD! Booooooring. Takes FAR too long and drops are FAR too rare. Substract a couple thousand hitpoints and let him drop the goodies 10 % more often... IMHO: Changes urgently necessary!

    Corgul: Nice place, nice boss, comparatively easy fight. Common items for almost everybody (sash/spellbook) which makes people feel good when leaving the island :D. Rare drops a bit too rare - but: IMHO: No change necessary!

    Charybis: Boring, not rewarding, forget about it... IMHO: Changes urgently necessary!

    Melisande: I hate farming keys, the boss however is easy. Like the place very much. Drop rate is insanely crappy: Never seen anybody getting a crimson, only hairdyes (not the good ones, black for example is totally useless...), squirrels and minor arties (fey leggins). If it wouldnt be that easy to do, it wouldnt be worth to go there. IMHO: Changes urgently necessary!

    Dradhorn: See Melisande!

    Travesty: Keys fairly easy, boss encounter funny and location wonderful. A really nice place to fight - love it! Would really benefit from some better/faster drops (Drops: See Melisande & Dreadhorn).

    Doom: Incredibily ugly place, incredibly boring fight, many absolutely useless items. But I know they will change it. It has been announced by the devs. IMHO: Changes urgently necessary!

    Tokuno/Felucca/Ilshenar-Champs: Much to say about them, will be a long discussion. I think its a good idea to re-vamp them a bit - especially when it comes to loot and replica-distrubution. Many nice items which are very useful - I dont mind scrolls, but the arties could be distributed more equally amongst the participants of the fight. IMHO: Changes necessary!

    I'm more interested in the claim that Navrey drops 'shared' items, like the listed Berserker Breastplate.

    I've killed enough Navreys solo for a tally of 7 Tangles, 12 Night Eyes and a dozen or so pinks, and I've never seen any items besides these 3 drop from her. I know UOGuide lists her with a bunch of other drops, but I assumed it was wrong.

    Has anyone pulled other items from her?

    One thing I want to add on Champ Spawns... for the love of god don't allow champ spawn mobs to LOOT PLAYERS... Incredibly annoying and the bodies of the dead spawn mobs decay too fast for you to ever get your stuff back...... NP if all they take is gold but for me they ALWAYS take my bandages. VERY not cool.

    Didnt think about them but yes fast decaying critters need to decay at normal rates if they loot ANYTHING.

    Oh and i love the medusa / wife comments :whip:

    I've gotten well over 30 tangles and more pinks and night eyes than I can shake a stick at, never gotten any other drop from her.

    I have gotten the Summoner's Kilt, and a friend of mine has gotten a Token of Holy Favor from Navrey as well, though I do believe these dropped before the tangle & night-eyes were added as drops to navrey.


    Note: these artifacts were from Looting the corpse, they did not drop direct-to-pack.

    Corgul, Osiredon, and the SA Bosses have separate rolls for drops for each of the top 6 attackers. The minimum drop chance is 5% for any of those guys. So if you go with 5 other people you get 5 separate rolls of min 5%. (Of course that means you have a possibility of 6 drops.)
    Discorders get credit now.

    A drop chance of anything higher than 5% has a tendency to flood the market.
    To offset this, there are instances or time factors towards fighting bosses, (keys/instances) or in Corgul's case, the island relocating. Makes it a little bit more difficult to farm them.

    Osiredon is tanky. But you can chain them for as many nets as you have with no problem. 3 people can drop him in 20 minutes with good coordination. But if you use 6 you'll have a better chance at getting a drop.

    Why cant there be at least a point system such as doom so eventually I get a drop? Killing 80 medusas to get a slither is a bit insane and takes so much time. It could take the 50-60 hours it takes to kill that many and freaking farm gold and have enough to buy one!

    Err, I fought this monster with a couple of people of which many can be regarded as extremely experienced (not as newbish like me) and there has NEVER been an Osi-Fight lasting 20 min. NEVER. With 3 people, this fight can go an hour or even longer. Show me please these templates and the strategy. I really cannot believe it...

    If you think bandies are hard to lose, think of us Siege players that lose armour parts to them. ;)

    But I disagree.
    Why shouldn´t mobs be able to loot us? We loot them all the time. Just put some stacks of bandages on the ground in case you get looted.

    Letting them loot is fine... But if they do loot a player then they should have + 8 minutes added to their corpse decay time. As it is corpses in champ spawns last what 30 seconds? Whatever it is, it is not nearly long enough to have a good shot at getting your stuff back.
