The 40 hour stuff is just too much at this point. If an average player goes to 5 counts, it's going to take them 20-30 days without getting another count to go blue. There needs to be some new system in place, where you can bribe someone to get 2-3 counts taken off, etc.

I don't think that murderer's don't deserve some kind of infraction for murdering(stat loss was a bit much), I just think this system is out dated. 40 hours does nothing but take a player out of the game by making them sit and burn counts. Hit them in the pocket book etc, make a red pay a fee for each bank use etc. Just get rid of the huge timer.

If you kill someone, take the consequences. If you don't like the consequences, don't kill folks. Not really hard, is it?

And it's rather difficult to guard whack someone unless they are, to a degree, co operating with you :p

Like I said, I agree there should be consequences, I just think these ones are counter productive and out dated.

If you look at UO, a lot of it is built round the basic concept of 'good' and 'bad' - there's a reason thieves take karma loss and murderers go red. These things are considered to be 'bad'. So why would anyone want to make it easier to throw off bad deeds? I don't play from an RP perspective (makes me wince, sorry folks) but even I can see the logic to it taking so long to burn off murder counts.

I can't see logic behind seeing 5-6 reds afk sitting at Yew gate.

*shakes head* Be blue or be red. There are consequences for either. Some good, some not.

Indeed. Quite why folks seem to think they can switch between the two I don't understand!

But I like being red, and I dont want my red to go blue. At this point in the game when we are mostly faction fighting. I get very few counts. But I still want my red to stay red. 8 hour short term and 40 hour long term is just fine.

Dont do the crime if you cant do the time

I know this issue is irrelevant for you all on SP, but on productions shards, murder counts should not decay in Trammel ruleset. They need to change that if they start working on the murder system.

It's been that way for how long now so why change it now. There was something mentioned about the Devs working on a way to get rid of all murder counts. Don't remember if that was going to be one time turn char blue or if you could do it multiple times. That was about a year or so ago so who knows what trashcan that idea is sitting in. I just wish they would let reds buy from NPC's (at least in one town), or if your a red in factions then you should at least be able to buy off faction vendors.

I would like to see the AFK portion taken out of murder counts.

In the past, I've advocated a "questing" system that can't be scripted to burn off murder counts. Some type of quest that takes around an hour of time to do.

I do not believe in doing away with the murder count system nor do I believe in making it "easier" for a murderer. As far as I know, you can't get murder counts without attacking a blue: whether it is killing scripters, "defending" a champ spawn, or helping your red buddy... the fact is a blue was attacked and killed.

Reflective armor applies to the attacker before their attack damage and can cause a murder count. Wrong?

It is possible. But only if the attacker is blue before it happens. If the reflective armor doesn't do it that first attack then it doesn't apply as the attacker would then be gray.

However the damage applied is usually very minimal and it is more then likely to heal, even through normal regeneration. As you only have to heal what damage you did to avoid the count.

I don't think it works exactly that way. The reflect only has to occur as an event prior to the death blow.

Not if they were already gray or if the damage was healed.

im guessing you dont pvp at all..

there are ways to attack someone and give the person you attacked the murder account several hours later for defending themselves.

the whole murder count system is broken.

    lol that would be funny.

1 mil per count for reparations is my take.

I've burned 90 counts, or 3,600 hours, or 150 days of real play. Old fashioned way. I've probably been at it for over a year, not sure, and almost done. It would be funny if UO created a reprieve system right after I turn blue :).

1m per count is a bit extreme. There should be a way for perma red characters to reprieve even if only once. I really wouldn't mind stat loss, so long it wasn't perma. Losing even 2-3 in each skill per death is a bit extreme. I could see losing maybe 8% of each skill for an hour, per death.

IE Red player dies 3x, loses 24% of skills for X amount of time, then 16% then 8%.

should just make it if you go red thats it this was your choice there is no way to go blue again i think that would be good as it was yer choice to turn to the dark side ;) also be even better if you got one char red then your whole account is fel bassed haha i would love to see all the people moaning well it be fun

True. But people would pay anything not to play. Hehe.

To be honest, since the red/blue criminal system is inherently full of holes and can/will never be fixed, yea, I'd vote to drop it to 20.

Eh, just put in a murder-count-lock, much like a karma-lock

Because the system for judging good and bad is, always was, and always will be broken.

    Blues aren't necessarily innocent.

    Attack a player, permared.

Here's a gold sink for ya!

Red's must pay 10M per resurrection to the crown not the bounty hunter.

Bounty hunter would get a scaled payment not to exceed 500k based on the the red's number of kills.

So when they changed the perma grey system that was maintaining the difficulty of "throwing of bad deeds"??

    Same principal applies...

If you are saying a player who consistently attacks blues should be red

    then

If a thief consistently steals from players they should be permanantly grey...END OF

They are not, outdated and ufair system in place...END OF
