Focus could use MR bonus

    Heya,

Now that mysticism needs focus, I'v been doing calculating with mana regen.

Focus, which should be useful even with nonmedable armor, is really bad for mana regen.

If my char is using MEDDABLE armor and has:

    0 focus
    40 medit
    140 int
    12 mr on suit

    mana regen = 1,5635

If my char is using NON-MEDDABLE armor and has:

    120 focus
    20 medit (human bonus)
    140 int
    12 mr on suit

    mana regen = 1,5492

With 0 medit that is 1,5315

I mean, 40 medit and meddable armor is better then 120 focus+20medit in non-meddable.

My humble opinion is that focus could use a little boost, maybe non-meddable armor would be bit useful too again.

... pretty sure you miscalculated that.

    I'm getting 1.88 with 120 focus and Non-Med armor.

I'm using the calculator that was posted here yesterday, so can't be sure.

    splup's calculations were correct

if you are using the calculator i provided and got these numbers then you need to hit the "calculate it!" button

the 1.88 is what you'd have with 120 focus AND medable armor....

if you change something u must hit the calculate button again

i wish i was knowledgeable enough to make it so the it automatically recalculated when you switched between med and non med...but i'm still new to programming yet....

perhaps later today i will find a way to make that change..until then make sure you simply hit the calculate button after changing something

I tested it on the excel someone posted and it gives the same numbers, so they should be correct yes.

no, because focus was not meant to replace the meditation skill. /end thread

Somewhat true, but even more true now that Focus can be used for Mysticism. It's MR bonus is good enough, and it still gives you a decent amount of stam regen also. A slight bonus, maybe, but nothing much.

It has both a bonus to stam and mana regen...no reason to give more. If someone wants more MR they can get it from other methods. If something is not broke, no reason to fix it.

I think there's something broken here.

    Human
    140 int
    mr on suit 12
    0 focus (human 20)
    0 medit (human 20)
    Skillpoints used 0
    Meddable armor

    Mana regen = 1,505

    Human
    140 int
    mr on suit 12
    120 focus
    0 medit (human 20)
    skillpoints used 120
    non-meddable armor

    Mana regen = 1.550

Same stats and meddable armor Mana regen = 2.05

I get that it's not supposed to replace meditation but c'mon. With 120 skillpoints you get 0,045 extra regen? I know the first was one in meddable armor and second in non-meddable but wasnt focus aimed for warriors in heavy armor?

If I put meddable armor on, on that focus temp I get:

    mana regen = 2,05

Having 20 human medit and using meddable armor gives ya 0,5 which you can see is 10x more then that 0,045.

Maybe the problem isn't focus but non-meddable armor effecting too much passive MR even with focus.

It's quite stupid that even as and elf or garg, with 0 meditation and 120 focus you get lot better mana regen with meddable armor then with non-meddable.

    Elf
    120 focus
    0 medit
    140 int
    12 mr on suit

    meddable = 1,8815
    non-meddable = 1,5315

Isn't that kinda stupid since focus was aimed for warriors using heavy armor?

Ya since myst needs focus shouldnt focus give more mana reg?rolleyes:This has got to be the most funniest post ever...this post right here is why stuff will never be balanced because ppl want to make a uber template...since his template needs mana now after the new focus changes now he decides focus needs upgraded...rolleyes:

Focus is fine...dont like it take med spellcaster...

Can i ask you a question and do you promise to be honest?Would you have even gave a crap about focus until this last patch?

I'v cared about it since I made one suit of wooden armor, cause I didnt bother calculate the regen, just thought that 16 MR and 120 focus will be fine. Noticed mana regen is crap and focus waste of 120 skill points and havent' used suit since.

Now that mystic started to need focus, I thought maybe others would feel this way too and I could get some use to that suit, but I quess not. Gotta stick with leather on all templates still I quess.

(Battle) Focus is chiefly for stamina, plus a little mana.. it was intended as a "warrior" skill. Perhaps they changed the secondary skill requirement because gargoyles burn a lot of stamina?

  14. I would like to see the cap for stamina regen to be 30 and focus should give higher stamina regen plus a chance to replenish all stamina on a hit at gm and above, just like the divine fury spell except no higher ssi. But more mana regeneration, no that is what meditation is for.

i think the real complaint here is....there is no reason to ever use anything other than leather armor...which is true and kind of defeats the purpose of having different armor types at all

The real problem is that people associate mysti with a mage...
Meditation skill should scale with eval/magery, that could solve the whole archery issue. Joat should be deleted.

Archery+balanced bows, should require "battle" focus, of atleast 100 to be usefull.

Refresh pots are overrated, and should scale with focus.

You do need Spell Channeling weapons for mysticism so it's kinda mage thing imho. If it was like necromancy is, that you don't need Spell channeling it would be different thing...

Wrong...the wep does not need SC if you use mysticism.

As far as your argument with regen being goofed up...nothing is wrong with the current system...it does work as intended. The idea with focus was to provide you with the same regen regardless of med or non med armor. So, I would appreciate if you would not use that as a focal point of conversation...as it only serves to confuse those who don't understand what you are getting at. Leave things as they are, and if you arent happy...change your suit...not the whole skill.

Yes, you do need SC if you use mysticism. I tested it approx 30 seconds ago.

Edit. If you don't believe me go test on TC.

  20. The mysticism spell Enchant Weapon grants SC to any weapon the mystic mage is holding.
