    WOW, im not actually sure how i feel about this

    seeing how soul stones are account bound i could have a fully trained character same day i made the character, excluding needing powerscrolls.

    but im not sure if i really think siege players need more slots.

    I hope they do not add another slot. Having only 1 identity (per account) is what makes Siege a great place. One character forces you to specialize and forces a reputation upon you, all good things. There were too many mules on my old shards.
    Although I think the slot was asked for because of the gargoyle race coming out with SA.

    name change tokens and soulstones i think alrdy ruined what ur saying:( that's why i think one extra slot wouldn't be a big deal. plus people have multiple accounts...

    I think they dont want people to do a quest to make a Garglyol so on Siege you would have to delete you char to make one.

    doesnt matter, having races other than humans in this game is a stupid idea to begin with and gargoyle is even more stupid than that.

    as far as my opinion goes on having more slots for siege...i think its a good idea.

    it might encourage more people to play.

    One of the things I like about Siege is that it's hard to be anonymous. Can't just hop on another character, screw someone over and go back to your business. You have to do it to their face. Besides... 1 per account is what keeps the crafters in business.

    Might be afraid Siege players won't buy the expansion if they can't make a Gargoyle. They were saying you might have to choose Gargoyle at character creation. No quest to turn back and forth.

    From the town hall reaction to wanting a quest to be a gargoyle they will probably add it. But it was also mentioned that gargoyles can't wear anything but gargoyle armor. Either way it will screw your past character if you have to delete one or replace all your equipment.

    I actually do not know how I feel about this. As far as creating mules- I agree with Krystal. Plenty of people already have soul stones and second accounts with crafters. I am not worried about losing business.

    If the choice is accept a second slot and have the option of being a gargoyle OR no slot/no gargoyle..... I think I am leaning towards allowing the second slot. Having no option to be a gargoyle might be one more reason people won't want to come here.

    If you are wanting new players on Siege, they will be able to make gargoyles. But I think it would be much better if the only gargoyles seen were new gargoyles, and let them do their own thing mingling with the humanoids; it would create a sense of community among them.

    You may be right or it may be reporter bias. I spent a night drinking and listening to the recording so my judgement was impaired, but as I have no feelings either way I am sure I heard more yes' than not.

    EDIT: I should have said at the time of listening.. I was only a newbie on Siege and not sure I liked it. I am biased now.

    If you read the post I was replying to, it was mentioned that new players were wanted on Siege. New players have no fear of losing an old character to try out a new race, as they have no characters.

    Then you have to factor in those who purchase name change tokens and sell them for gold. Name changes happen far more than you probably realize.

    I'd maybe go for 1 extra slot, but no more than that.

    This is in part a follow on to a discussion on UOHall about imbuing and how to fit it into a crafter char. Most people were saying they'd use their new 7th char slot which comes with SA. I said I couldn't do that, I wouldn't have one on Siege. For me having another char meant paying another subscription, which isn't an option, so I'd have to juggle with soulstones (which I hate!). Jeremy posted a reply to that.

    Folks on production shards have gone from 5 slots to 6 and now they're going to have 7 to fit in all the new skills they're going to need. A crafter back at the beginning could do more with his 700 points than I can now with 720, I have 2 crafters currently. Between them they can make just about anything people might need, but with imbuing to fit into every crafter's template that's not going to be possible in the future. I need another character just to be able to do the same things I do now.

    I think 2 characters per account would be beneficial to the shard.

    additional char slots are a bad idea in my opinion.

    keep siege the way it is and make the gargoyle race accessible through a quest (or simply by clicking a button if you have to...) in order to avoid people having to delete accounts.

    You guys dont understand, every "class" would become generic.

    Me for instance, I have 4 accounts, none are crafters, but if we get another slot im sure one of my 8 characters will be.

    Not only that but its a huge step away from community, nothing will be specialised, T hunters wont be rare and neither will crafters, lock picks, anything, your doubling the amount of chars, getting rid of your identity.

    You know the cool thing about siege is everyone has their place.

    You give everyone a char for free that will pretty much deminish, I know your all jumping at the chance for a bone they are throwing us but please please do not let this one go though.

    Do not fix it if it aint broken, we are just getting around to fixing siege, we dont need this change.

    trust me, I have 4 accounts, this change would save me 20$ a month, but its not worth it to me.

    Im telling you this is a step away from community and a step toward production shards

    Keep siege unique, two chars one day and then three the next.

    I believe we would get more players with more char slots. We always say Siege is the closest you get to UO before Trammel but one char slot only was not a part of pre Trammel. Let it go.

    Most Siege players do have more accounts/chars anyway. So what diff would it do?

    We don't know how many players we lost because they can't affort 2-3 accounts. The count of chars should not depent of how wealthy you are.
    I have several accounts, sometimes upto 7 active with 4 of them being main chars. Why should Siege only be for wealthy people, we can only play one char at the timme anyway.

    When a Siege player want to try a new template and do not have a char for it, he/she will make a char on normal shards, sometimes they won't be back here.

    Even when soulstones do give us a chance to switch skills you can't switch between Human, Elf or Gargoyle when you grap skills from your soulstone.

    Do we really want the shard to stay a desert or do we want life on the shard?

    It won't give us more mules, all already do have crafting skills on their soulstones but it will allow the Siege players to give their muleskills an identity, we already know, several PK's who also do have a respected merchant/crafter char. It's a RP game so one players can have more than one UO life with total different character type.

    Best way to help the crafters is changes to crafting so resources and tools for crafting is gained from using your crafter, not from using your PvP or PvM char on hard monster spawn. If a PvP'er or PvM'er have to use more time to get resources and tools for crafting, he may very well buy crafted items and let the one who enjoy crafting do their job and make money from it.

    I don't want to see 7 char slots on Siege but if I had to choose between one or 7, I would choose 7. I think it's about time to give up something to get more players. If it's possible to make it less than 7 but more than one, I would choose 3 slots.

    About being anonymous, the one with several accounts can do that but we still know who they are. PvP ruleset and no recall also make it harder to stay anonymous. Just follow the char and he will end up at his main chars house. You can follow him in a gate, but on shards with recall, it's not so easy.

    An other thing that have to go on Siege is 3x cost of npc stuff, vendor fee and boats, deeds and classics houses. There really is no need for it now, npc armor and weapon is useless, npc tools break very fast and all run around in LRC so why not just drop it and help the sailors and pirates to get cheaper boats and the crafters away from town to be able to run vendors.

    We can be stubborn and refuse changes and see the shard slowly die or we can allow new life to grow here.

    I think a 2nd character slot is a good idea. I want a 2nd character slot and think that siege perilous would benifet from it. With the new increase to ROT we may see in a spike in visitors that become siegers once they trained well enough and see how great siege can actually be, maybe after GD's are removed....., but still a 2nd character slot would just add to that benifet and we may see all those l33t pvper from other shards actualy dedicate themselves to taking over siege, in which case we will devour and spit them back out into new legions of siege pvper's hating on each other in a new era of uber l33t hating and ganking.

    anyways, its seem it is up to us becuase the devs may actually listen.

    We need a POLL, where its yes or no for a 2nd character.

    I currently have 2 crafters, on Molly I already have to switch out mining and lumber, which means if I make something in dull copper I can't smelt the ones I don't want to keep. She has carpentry. In order to make forges she needs smithing, in order to smith she needs mining, in order to make beds she needs tailoring, to make flour mills she needs tinkering. To smith anything decent she needs armslore. to make pentagrams she needs magery, to make instruments she needs music (ok I can work that one with items). To make the tools she needs she needs tinkering. Too many skills are interdependent, and now I'm going to have to try to fit in 'imbuing'

    Current plan is to stone bowcraft. But how can my character have an identity when she's a bowyer one day and not the next? I HATE using soulstones in this way. They were meant for people to be able to try new templates, not switch characters around at a whim.

    Someone please explain to me how having an extra character on a shard someone doest play on, makes them want to play on it?

    I mean if everyone is in agreement, I will shut my mouth and be ready with the "I told ya sos" if it goes bad,

    But please do not dress it as the thing that everyone on siege wants most-more people.

    Do not say this change will effect population, because we all know thats a soft spot for all of us.

    but really how does a second slot help get people to play?

    If someone could explain that to me, then of course Il agree to the change.

    But why risk more populace on something like this, which I and many others feel, is a really bad idea? Why not invest time into fixing other things that will make people come here?

    Fix
    -factions
    -pvp
    -tamers
    -loot drops

    Dont settle on any random change just because someone threw the idea out there.

    I like the idea of ONE more character slot. I doubt it would hurt much, even if I reactivated my other account for my bro, neither of us would have crafters or anything. It would be either a pvmer or another pvper.

    Compared to the vast majority of posters here, if not all, i am a Siege newbie. I can truthfully say i would have started playing Siege a long time ago if there had been two character slots.

    Perhaps like me there are others playing UO who do not want to just play one style of character each day and the shard would maybe benefit from their involvement. If one additional character slot increases the number of Siege players the rascally reds will have more targets.

    The argument/thought that everyone will immediately start and make crafters does to me not hold water. As others have stated the skill combinations required to make a good crafter are many.......... if people do make crafters with the new slot, IF it happens, i would guess that in the main they would be for repairs.

    i don't believe having an extra char slot will effect SP much. but make osi lose a few bucks. i really dont think it will bring in new players either. but who knows.

    only other thing beside the ROT fix that will bring new players is if they can grandfather a house on SP.... (these are the only 2 things i heard other shards complain about besides xfers which we dont need all them dupers here)

    anyway unless i hear a good argument on why we should not have a second char slot, im gonna vote yes on 2 char slots and no more then that...

    my first reaction was YAY, i can drop an account. Then after reading through the posts. i don't know if i'm for it. Let's talk about the money aspects frist. As was mentioned EA is not for anything that will save us money. Soooo, where's the catch? i'm sure not about that one yet. Time will tell. IF EA is worried about Siege players not buying SA because they can't make a gargoyle....make the new land only accessible if you purchase the expansion. That solves that.
    i know people have several accounts here on Siege, so if the production shard people want multiple chars they should have to do like the rest of us have done for years and suck it up and buy an account. If someone won't come from a production shard to here because they can only have one account, jeez do we want them here anyway? Quality over quantity people.
    If the whole issue REALLY is skill points, just give us another 50 or something and be done. They know making gm in a skill worthless was a mistake. So yeah give us another 50. Then we can put the imbuing on a char. i mean GAH it seems to me the worry is more about that.
    There are other issues on siege to be dealt with....obviously. They are tossing us a tid bit with ROT. Yeah ok i'll take it, at least they are finally looking at Siege. i do not pvp as everyone knows, but i read the boards and there are issues. Do we really want them to say hey, we gave you ROT changes, hey we gave you another char slot....when will you people shut up? i think we should all vote no char slot and add, until you fix ....this this and this. THEN and only then will we talk about the fluffy sh*t you are offering as a fix to the shard.
    Do any of the Devs even play here? i'm not thrilled with the question thing being put on the main page for all to answer. Are going to get people that do not even play here responding? It should have been an in game box on the Siege shard only. Like a ballot box. Are they going to check the accounts, char name and main shard? If the response is overwhelming.....doubtful.
    Anyway after all this rambling, i'm still on the fence. i agree with Krystal's post. And why just one slot? If they are worried about being able to fit skills........then yeah i agree with Krystal on that too. We are going to need two but no more.

    I do think we need a poll with two questions.
    Do you want a 2nd Char slot?
    Would you make a crafter with that slot?


    The three biggest reason people have said they don't want to come here are ROT, housing, and single char slot. I understand what Cash is saying, but Freja makes a good argument as well. I still think I am leaning towards saying yes.

    I think that adding 1 more char slot per account will only make the "I died on this char, so I will quick switch to another account" factor go way up. People that currently have 3 or 4 accounts will still keep these accounts. The only difference I see is that these people will have another char to choose between from to come back into the pvp scene. For example: Player dies on A1C1 (act 1 char 1) which is a stealth dismounter. Player quickly switches to A2c1 - spellweaver mage because there are lots of enemy melee chars (keep in mind A2c2 could be any other template gimp or not). Player goes ape**** on this char and eventually dies. Player switches to A3c1or2 (either of which are gimps of any fasion. anyway u can see how it goes. the possibilities for gimping out are endless.

    What I'm trying to get at is that even tho the people with mutilple accts will switch to the other char after they die, their options are still limited and therefore stuck to some sort of "personality" or "identity". With the addition of 1 extra char slot per acct these identities can change rapidly and possibly insto obscurity. "which char will righty log onto with his second account, the stealth dismounter...the stealth tamer...the dismount tamer....the stealthbok...the necro mage..." u see what im saying tho possiblities are endless.
