FYI Don't buy a code right now! Update! (It's safe to buy again) OR is it!?

    Just an FYI for anyone that is thinking about purchasing any codes for UO right now.... apparently the website is screwy and you can purchase a code and they WILL bill you but you will NOT be getting the email with the code.

    I'm told after spending 2 hours trying to contact customer support this morning that it's not functioning and they have NO ETA on when it will be fixed.

    I'm rather P.O.ed with EA still right now and I told them that "good" customer support would be to take the site all the way down so you don't end up with a bunch more players who are totally ticked off. I mean it's one thing to go to the website and have it say "Temporarily out of service" and to check back later.... but it's another thing entirely to let me buy something thinking I'm getting in and then to force me to play the waiting game and have to call you all ticked off because I didn't get my email and then have you tell me the website is down... Doesn't take rocket science to figure out that if the code part isn't working you should shut the WHOLE THING down.

    This is why EA customer service sucks... When they are too stupid to realize that people will be pissed when they purchase something and don't get it... I'd rather know the website is down and to check back later than to be allowed to buy something I'm not getting. And no they have no idea if I will ever get my purchase. They don't have any way to even refund me because they can't see that I made a purchase at all either. All that is down. The only thing up is what looks perfectly normal... And yes you can go right ahead and buy something and waste money because it'll let you do that... but you can't get a code.



    So warning you all now DO NOT buy anything off the store until further notice.

    I suppose when I finally do GET my code I'll let you know... but for now I'd like to save you all the headache I just got.

    If EA wants to keep UO subscribers paying and playing, things like this should not happen. I hope you get your code (or at the very least, get your money back).

    I bought a Gothilic code on Monday, updated my account but can get the chest of sending in game bz the system said the code was invalid. Sent email, no response. Talked to EA customer service and was told they were working on it. The charge already showed up on credit card. If this is not resolved, I will dispute the charge with my CC company.

    What did I do?

    Five minutes later I find this thread. Still waiting on that code... :wall:

    Make sure you are entering all of the letters as capital letters.

    I copy and paste the code from the order confirmation directly into the in game item claiming gump. It worked for account update on EA web site but not in game.

    We are looking into what might be causing this issue and will get back to you as soon as there is a solution. I have contacted Origin and waiting on a reply.

    Why does it seem that Messena has to get involved in every single detail of UO for anything to be done at all. I mean its great she does it but what happened to having department managers and areas supervisors putting out quality work...

    if the mail don't arrives, just look into the order history, you can get your code from there...

    I don't know if this helps, but, when I ordered my code (which worked in-game) a few days ago:

    - that email with the code was sent to the email address associated with the Paypal account I used to pay for it;

    - the code worked in-game when I typed it in by hand, with the dashes, being sure to use capital letters. Lowercase letters caused it to fail, and I wasn't able to cut and paste;

    I called them. The program that generates the codes and sends out the emails is NOT working. So therefore it's NOT anywhere.

    According to them it's something that occurred sometime last evening. Nice of them to let us know don't you think?

    And I also chewed them for not having UO anywhere... not when you call not on their stinking help screen... you have to seriously dig to find any references to UO... you'd think when you have a game about for over 14 years they might care about it enough to have some mention of it somewhere... but no. I gave them hell when I called about it.

    Well I would suggest that any of us that do call should give them hell about not seeing UO anywhere! It's maddening... no wonder we don't get new players... I mean can't even find us in the help!

    And I said to the lady I've played for over 10 years... I have NEVER had this much of a problem trying to talk to a real freaking person..... or find UO help!!! I asked them wth was up with that?????

    I told them straight up that I'd put up with quite a bit from EA but this seriously takes the cake... and if they want to know why other games are doing better it comes right down to customer service or the lack there of on the part of EA.

    What will likely happen is she'll get fired. Seems to me that whenever we get a DEV that is totally devoted to UO and is good they get fired.

    After long haul with the link bull. Top it all off one of the accounts not auto set renew. Same BS with no path from EA site login to get to my linked UO accounts. Hell the only way I can login to EA is to do the forgot password and reset it to login. Try to login gives the login name not valid. Same login name that is on the password rest. They just need to put the old account system back in, and tell EA to get bent and the check is in the mail for their share. It is true there is no path to UO account from EA.

    Funny thing is the Email I got about the account not renewing was from WarHammer Online

    If the number is called above doing the push number phone game. Of the list of games, UO let alone Warhammer are not on the list. Hitting other games or waiting for service get you recorded message telling you to login at the EA site for help. Ya right. At least the warhammer link has more tags for UO then EA but still no help.

    Will try to poke at the mythic login for a bit till get locked out. My stress relief game is turning on me. Bedazzle3 is looking pretty good right now as a grind time. UO may not be dead but the lack of their ability to take a willing suckers money tells me it is really near.

    UPDATE: As a last ditch effort tried the EA login and the pixel gods took me right to account management instead of the useless EA page. So Say We All! Still going to play Bedazzle3 instead.

    Ok updated FYI...

    They have fixed the site and I finally got my 2 emails one with and one without my code... nearly 36 hours AFTER purchase.

    And amazingly it actually worked. I half expected it to fail and tell me the stinking code was invalid.

    It worked for me so I´m good now.

    I purchased my code over 2 DAYS AGO. When i didn't receive my code, they said call back the next day. I contacted them today and they told me to contact them in 24-48 hours. Transcript follows:

    Ea: Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Ea how may I help you?
    you: I placed an order over ***** days ago and i still have not received it
    Ea: Where did you purchase the game from?
    you: store.origin.com
    Ea: May I know your order number?
    you: *****
    Ea: Please allow me sometime so that I can check for you.
    you: ill be here
    Ea: Okay.
    Ea: Thank you for waiting. I really appreciate your patience.
    Ea: I have checked for your order and found that you have placed an order for "Ultima Online: Stygian Abyss (PC Downloadable)"
    you: yes
    you: i was supposed to receive my upgrade code and never did
    Ea: The order status is not yet completed.
    Ea: It will take sometime to get updated.
    you: i was already charged for it, i dont see why it takes so long to send me a code
    you: when i purchased a similar order on the 14th, the code was sent within minutes
    Ea: Yes I do ;understand.
    Ea: Once your order get completed then your registration key get unlock.
    you: why wasnt my order completed when i placed it
    you: it was a weekday, i had to work and i assume everyone else did

    Redxpanda I totally feel your pain. This is the same BS that I went through just over the last couple days. I did at 3am finally get my code. But that's totally not cool.

    I got the run around everytime I called. One time they finally called back and NO ONE was there. I answered within 2 rings and there wasn't anyone on the other side. By the time I actually got to talk to someone about my problem I was so livid I could barely talk without screaming. I was so irritated.

    I agree completely really bad service. Oddly enough (not really), they sent a code to my email that "has already been used"

    Assuming that they are not going to charge me for this code, i see the charge from them is off my account so i will place another one when and if i choose to.

    Update: They billed me for the invalid code

    i had same problems with the payed for code called got them in there chat help box nothing helped thay told me that the e mail that was used for the codes did not match the one on my account info but i sent the god of uo a e mail(Mesanna) and is if by magick the e mail worked n the code was in my in box the next day so just goes to show u who cares and it is not the cust suport

    Hello All,
    Mine is the opposite problem...I am trying to upgrade an account
    to Stygian and it says I have already purchased this.
    I did for my other accounts when it came out, but now it won't let me
    purchase just the upgrade code.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Odd. I was doing the same thing but it let me upgrade. I bought just the upgrade code. Of course now I may have to get the High Seas for the account too now.... *sighs*

    I'd try going through helpea.com or whatever it is... and have them call you.

    husband's e-mail. Now I get the Code has already been used.

    Seriously!?!...what was wrong with UOGAMECODES? I never in all
    the years ever had a problem with them..

    I am in line waiting for EA Customer service.:arr:

    See my thread. The same thing happened to me. I was on hold forever 4 different times. When I finally was helped, they issued me another code and that one also says that it has already been used. She told me that if it didn't work to call back in 48 hours, because it's a Mythic issue and they had to escalate to them and it might take 2 business days. Don't give up, because according to my customer service agent, they have no idea that there is an issue.

    There are other threads with our fellow posters having this exact same issue.

    The bottom line is that the original poster may want to remove the line that says it's safe to buy codes again.
