Does it affect artifact drop rates to be in a party in the Gauntlet?
Yes! Never party in Doom! :-D
Gauntlet arties drop based on a point system, contingent upon the amount of damage you execute. If you're partied, your points are spread around to everyone in the party, greatly lessening your chance of getting a drop.
I would suggest partying IF you aren't a high damager.
lol, and steal someone else's drop? I suppose you could...
Some players have more healing/support oriented characters. I have no problem with that, and in fact I love them in my party.
Would you call it stealing your drop if some mage was keeping your pet and you healed the whole fight, as well as keeping the DF spawn under control?
That's the problem with UO today. It's all about the solo. Just because someone does less damage than you doesn't mean they aren't making a tough fight go 50-100% faster.
Me too... In fact, I enjoy being the healer or vet. Supporting roles can be alot of fun!
Of course, if I am partying with others, we all make sure to explain to each other how the point system or rewards work for wherever/whatever we are hunting, and come up with a fair distribution of loot anyway.
Is it 100% that points are distributed evenly to everyone in the party? I thought it was only just the top 10 damagers getting points, with the top damager getting the most points.
No offense meant! lol.
I think it's great that you guys run parties of defense/offense characters. I'd love to join you sometime!
can someone plz message me a breakdown of the doom arty drop system now?? i feel so stupid
And Disco Bards that have a dramatic effect on rapidity of kills etc., get nothing when the beastie drops, if that is all they do...and when you are doing a Peerless, for example, that Discord makes a big difference.
So, you make a good point with the healers etc., IMO.
yeah, I take my bard down there alot and have yet to get an arty on him. He's discord/provo/mage.
I provo alot of the stronger spawn back onto the DF, attack it with 2 earth ellies, and x heal players/pets.
It can become alot of work especially when you fail to to provo a lich lord or RC.
I can't say what is wrong with doom, if anything, but I wish it would reward a little better. Maybe it does?? All I know is although I don't live down there, I've easily put over a hundred hours down there since the creation of Malas and have got nothing.
