    - How about it, for to distinguish them from potential imposters, but primarily to give them some verifiable recognition?

I think the winners of this (hopefully repeatable) contest should be granted a togglable unique name to identify them via paperdoll... Maybe something like:

    the architect
    the North Britain bank designer
    the pixelator

    Just a thought :)

    Congrats to all the winners!!

(Disclaimer: I did not participate / so this does not benefit me)

  2. Thank you, but no thanks. Winner on my shard was enough for me, there is no need for a special title on the paperdoll. But hey I would love to see a ceremony on the shard where a VIP cuts the ribbon. With no possible rewards to be given out, role play only.

The terms and conditions including the reward was spelled out in the contest ahead of time.
They get their name on the bank which is awesome enough. While a title would be cool, it wasn't in the original document so too late now at this point.

    - Why is it too late to grant a previously unannounced bonus?
If I'd won the contest, I would enjoy a unique title on my paperdoll that I could turn on or off at my will. They do already have that code in place iirc, heh.
Just thought it would be a good reward, that's all ;)

(You know my vote is two of the three choices, but I don't like to vote on my own polls :))

No because if they give them a title then they have to give everyone one according to the new event item reward trash system.

-Why would that be the circumstance, since these are two entirely different scenarios?

It was an event. People won the event and people also participated. Therefore if the winner was to receive a title, everybody else should get one too.

Have a poll on whether rules should be changed or not. Title it "Yet another poll".

    - Are you familiar with hockey ~ NHL? Should every team, therefore, be given the recognition of: owners of the Stanley Cup?

Because Pet wins a lot of prizes and the other poll made him cry.

They should get a title like "Britannian Architect" or a talisman to that effect. Nothing big. If they do get something it should be no drop/no trade.

I agree with you but under the new system they implemented the bank designer and the people who submitted entries should receive the same rewards.

As far as I know, the new system for rewards is for EM events only, and I'm pretty sure the EMs had nothing to do with the WBB contest. Therefore, not everybody would get the reward, hence why only the winners are getting their names on the bank, and not everyone who participated.

But in all honesty, even though I didn't enter (too much homework! >.<) I believe the recognition of the winner's name on the bank, and the reward of seeing their design everytime they go to Britain is enough. :)

I know it would be for me. Wish I'd had time to enter...

I'd really like to know how 7 people seriously came to the conclusion that it would be unfair to give them such a privalege.

Unfair to who exactly, and how? The people who didn't win? Because they'd have to suffer the extreme game damaging disbalance of a bit of text reminding them who won?

Actually it was NOT an 'event', it was a COMPETITION and they are two entirely different things.

Unlike EM events, the rules and 'rewards' for this competition were clearly advertised before anyone entered.

Any who entered this competition (not an 'event' as nothing occurred. EVENT = something that occurs in a certain place during a particular interval of time.) understood that if their design was USED then they would get recognition for being the designer of that design. Those who entered also knew that there would be only ONE winner for each shard. There was no room for any 'perceived' expectation of anything more. Those 'rules of entry' were quite clear to all involved. There is no 'prize', nothing to sell or trade. The recognition for EA to use your design, should be as advertised, nothing more and nothing less.

This was not an EM 'community event' and should NOT be 'used', as a lot of people in various threads at the moment are trying to use it, to compare this with anything 'in game' or the EM program at all. EA runs a lot of 'competitions' which come under different rules for each type of competition, as they should.

These competitions can be entered by anyone as long as they abide by the rules for them and when anyone enters you accept whatever is deemed the appropriate reward which is advertised prior to the competition being held and subsequently judged.

These competitions cover a multitude of topics and include deco comps, poetry comps, writing essays etc etc. None of these are remotely the same as the EM program which is a character 'participation' event program held 'in game' and 'in real time', where to participate you have to 'be there' in that moment of 'time' with a 'live' character. EM events are generally completed in an hour or two, unlike these competitions where those entering may spend upwards of 15 hours working on their submissions. (I know I probably totaled at least 30 hours in the four submissions I ended up preparing)

As for the 'Rewards', I use the term lightly, this particular competition does not technically have a reward but gives 'Recognition' (that is what the 'plaque' is. Architects who 'win' designs for public buildings are generally recognized for the 'USE' of their design, if their building isn't built they have nothing to 'put their name on' do they?) It is an appropriate 'reward' for the type of competition. While the entrants used the 'intellectual property' of EA (game art) with permission, EA is using the creative ability of the entrants, so hence why they need to 'give' some recognition and why the 'reward' in this case is totally appropriate.

I have entered many deco comps and understand that the format for 'most' is generally one winner or a place getter (where the actual deco is .jpeg only and not intended to be 'built', xmas deco etc) and if not in the stated 'winner' numbers you get nothing. When deciding to put the time in for some of these you accept these terms and have nothing to complain about.

As for any unique 'titles', I don't believe that is necessary as the terms and what form of recognition would be given for this WBB Deco Competition were quite clear and I expect most winners, as I am myself, are quite happy with the stated format and require nothing more. If they want to run another with a 'title' as the reward, all good, they just need to advertise it at the time that competition is announced.

    Regards

Of course titles aren't nescessary (I voted "it wouldn't bother me either way"), I'm just interested in the mindset that decides that such a title would be in some way "unfair".

I find it distasteful that some of you are voting no out of spite. Just think about it.. you are disagreeing with something you would usually agree with just to be a punk. Who are you really hurting by doing this?

If you do not like something then the best way is to be constructive about it. Not go around behaving with the maturity level of a spoiled five year old.

Too right. I can't see the EM team paying much (or any) attention to the general disapproval their new proposal has been met with, because the most vocal of those opposing it are in fact the precise reason these measures were taken in the first place.

I actually voted "Meh, it would not bother me either way." as none of the options 'sat' right with me for various reasons.

Yes, they should have unique recognition. <------ I believe the 'winners' (note I am one) are getting unique recognition already under the terms of the comp with a plaque on the bank. So while they 'should' get recognition, in my view we 'already' are and so a unique title is not necessary. I also have problems if the 'terms' of any competition are changed after the comp is run. It sets 'bad precedent' to alter things once they are advertised and run and isn't something that I think is in EA's or the players best interest to do.

No, it is unfair to give them such a privilege. <-------- I don't believe a 'unique title' is unfair if that is what the advertised 'reward' is. If that was the stated reward then all good. The wording of this makes it sound like a few words of 'text' on one character is in some way something 'great' or whatever, which it isn't. No winner, as far as I know has requested this, so it is something the OP dreamt up. Not knowing the OP, I am not sure whether this option was put up in some way to 'alienate' the winners by making out that this is even an option now being considered or claimed by anyone or whether the OP was just using it as an alternative 'option' as they felt option 1 would be 'nice'.

Meh, it would not bother me either way. <------- so my vote, (just so I could see the other 'votes'), I prefer EA to stick by it's advertising and rules and be consistent in the implementation of them. So this one was the 'lesser' of three choices.

This poll is really irrelevant, for the reasons Miss Echo has quite clearly stated, and is becoming an excuse for a troll-fest I think, therefore, the best thing to do with it is lock it.
