GMed carpentry

Discussion in 'UO Craftsman' started by imported_Kallie Pigeon, Jan 4, 2008.

  1. I just GMed carpentry. It took me about 50k logs and about 2 weeks (I don't play very many hours per day and I only had 40k logs stored up). My technique was to make a box that was the best I could for my skill level and then put the wood in the box and make stuff that didn't take a lot of wood per item mostly weapons. I add more wood to the box till I am over weight. Once I reach my weight limit, I toss it in the trash and start all over with a new box. On the high side it was gnarled staffs in an ornate wooden chest. Surprisingly gnarled staffs seem to get the best gains for quite a long time even though the skill required is not too high. The last 2 points was from tetsubo in ornate wooden chest.

    Congratulations!

Could you offer a little help to this newbie please?

I am working my alt from 0 to GM. Right now at 58.4 and trying to get to ROT tonight. Im making vesper chairs. You have a better suggestion? They are taking a lot of wood. Also, did you hit times when you just didnt get any gains?

  5. I think what I did at that level was to make wooden sheilds until I could make quarter staffs.

Congrats! Now you can pull up a chair and sit by the fire with the rest of us old folks. I remember a day when we were highly in demand for furniture. Those days are long gone now. I remember being very much sought after for my bed deeds when they first came out. I am beginning to feel like a plumber that has been replaced by a plumbers helper.

    Congrats to Kallie Pigeon !
Always nice to get that last gain ;-)

and Falon, here is a log i made while working my second carpenter, same method i used for my first as well ;-)

By making things that you can sell, if you are so inclined, you can average out about 1 gp per board used by the end of things [IMG]

I train at Minoc, as there are armorers and blacksmiths there to buy all the items from you, really close to the bank, so not as much a hassle to truck around wood/items etc.

Anyway, hope you may find this info useful [IMG]

The order is balot boxes (72.2), wooden shields (73.5), quarter staves (98.5), gnarled staves (100.0) for max efficiency and a very decent gain rate.
