Ok, so it was a really lucky goal, but against England, I'll take it!!
I'm American and all, but can we really beat countries who take football that seriously!?
Yup, just like we can beat the Dominican and Japan in baseball and those guys eat, sleep, and breathe baseball.
it must be our steriods.... er, 'winning spirit'.
Not sure, but to me, tying them is quite an achievement.
Tying because of a failure to block a goal.. it's still a goal. But the way we played leaves a lot to be desired.
Soccer leaves a lot to be desired.
2 billion people can't be wrong.
Anyways, it's like the Olympics.. you might not like figure skating, but you still want America to win.
Yeah, it was a pretty lame way to score but I think it evens out when you consider Altidore's shot that should have gone in.
Howard was amazing.
Was far from our best, but I think the performance wasn't too shabby.
Enjoy it while you can. We'll send you home soon enough.
By the way, how do you americans call the round of the last 16? We call it "Achtelfinale" but translated it sounds rubbish "eighth finals"?
I've only heard it called "Round of 16" - Then Quarterfinals, then Semi-finals, and Final.
They do call it "Group Stage" and then "Knockout Stage" tho.
The England goalie has a fitting name 'Green' all butterfingers and nerves, which I suppose can be expected for one so new and inexperienced, and I doubt if letting that goal in will do much for his confidence within the rest of the team...no matter what they say in public.
I'm rooting for England but only because my son is English and wants them to win, and my own team, Scotland didn't get through (the buggers)
I think Germany looks the strongest team so far, they had a great game, and I'm looking forward to watching more of them.
Football (Soccer to you Americans) is the best game in the world, no contest!!
Yeah, Germany looked very strong.
Despite the flub, England looks strong.
I would have thought Italy also until that dismal performance against Paraguay yesterday. I really expected better from them.

I tried to watch some of this World Cup stuff but the constant droning of those darn horns drove me nuts.
I got a app for my Itouch that plays the horn noise to annoy people.
QFT; Can September get here already?!?
Awesome game today despite the ref being either legally blind or paid off.
You never know Bama might be in the Mountain West by then...
Aye, was a great game. Wish i could tell the same about the german game before the US game, cause of the streaming servers being overstrained. Must have been a crappy game tho.
There were lots of vuvuzelas (or whatever way you spell those annoying horns) outside the office building so lots of germans enjoyed the us game.
