If you're like me, you can't use the new Enhanced SA client on your Mac.
I recently submitted a request to the Cross Over Games team to work on getting the Enhanced Client usable for us. They've accepted the challenge and hopefully it will be on the supported list soon. =] My Mac laptop at the moment is probably going to run this way too slow and I may have to buy more memory or just buy a new computer, but I am so psyched to play on it.

Cross Over just doesn't cut it even for the old 2D client. The graphics refresh is too noticeable vs. just running UO in Boot Camp.

Maybe it's because my 2009 Mac Mini only has 1GB RAM? What say you?

I agree, probably because you only have 1 gig of RAM.
I have 2 gigs of ram on my MacBook from 2007 and it runs pretty well but I noticed lag when I was running in the states (now that I live in Korea, I seriously notice it and so do other players). I don't think UO runs well on any mini computer, mac or PC.
How does boot camp work with UO though? I've been wanting to buy a New Mac when I can save up enough money for it. I even thought about buying a PC just to play UO but I'm not sure I'm willing to do that with all the past problems I had.

I'm curious how the Enhanced Client runs using Boot Camp as well. I've been looking at getting a MacBook Pro, but would want to know I could play UO on it before getting one.

I run the enhanced client and the classic on a 4 gig Ram IMac using bootcamp with no noticable problems or degradation over my old PC which was also a 4 gig machine. The nice thing about bootcamp is that uo is the only program even loaded on the windows side of the partitioned hard drive. Since I don't use the windows side for email or browsing its pretty tough to get anything from outside (spyware, malware or virus) to constipate your system.

Of course it'll run better on an IMAC. Those desktops are beautiful and you can't beat them.
I'm pretty sure that if you have enough gigs (3 gigs minmum maybe) on a Macbook pro and only ran UO on boot camp, it would run amazingly. I have never used Bootcamp though and my MacBook is 2 years old with problems other people did to it when I loaned my computer to them, and the keyboard is effed up. Depending on how well you can keep your mac up to date and all, you should really have no problems.

Mythic is working on a Mac version of WAR using a wrapper for the client. Hopefully when the team members that are working on it bring it out of beta, will take a look at doing the same for UO.

Yeah, I wish that were true but I doubt they will. To my knowledge, it's not cheap, and it seems like Mythic is just unwilling to spend money on UO anymore...

Both EC and WAR are based on Gamebyro.
Ignoring any foretelling of doom for the moment, if they're working on such a thing for WAR, then they're not going to simultaneously develop the same things for EC. If they were going to do anything, they'd probably wait until it's up and happy with WAR, then modify it for EC.

The EC patcher is inherited largely from WAR.
