Wow, it was just so long ago that I first opened the game and logged into this awesome living breathing online world, with my nice dialup connection. Exploring the world, getting a house, being part of a guild and transitioning through more ruleset revisions than any other game. But unfortunately all good things come to an end. While I like that UO is finally independent from EA, I just do not feel a part of the world anymore. The modern age finally caught up and I just do not enjoy the outdated interface and sluggish combat anymore. Other games like Guild Wars 2 have spoiled me with fast smooth combat, short rewarding game sessions and a minimal user interface and it's now almost half a year ago that I last logged into UO. The refinement system made me explode in hate and rage and it was the rule revision I could not stomach. I really wish I could play the game and get the Fancy Dress with conjurer's garb stats on it, something I always asked for and was finally delivered. But I'm sorry, I just cannot bring myself to log in and farm the rest of the artifacts. Or to muster the energy for another campaign to be the governor of my beloved Trinsic one more time. Unfortunately, reality caught up. The clock keeps ticking and my two accounts keep costing me money every month. I kept it going for a while to support the dev team, but I can't keep that up forever for something that I'm not really using. With ArcheAge promising a new sandbox MMO with housing, I decided I want to try it out. Unfortunately, I'm not going to subscribe to two MMOs, so Ultima Online finally has to get the axe. So, thanks for everyone for the amazing many years together and the great fun we've had. Thanks to the devs for keeping this thing going for so long. Thanks to stratics for hosting this forum and the great many discussions I've had here. I hope UO has some more wonderful years left in it.
