Grandfathered Houses?

Discussion in 'UHall' started by Epic of Legends, Jan 12, 2012.

  1. Has there been any changes with grandfathered houses? A castle of mine fell, while keeping the small L shape I had on another shard. This was spontaneous... I have had the castle for as long as I can remember. I have paid for the account every month without any issues. Help please?

Need a bit more information on that really. How many grandfathered houses do you have on that account? If you have more then has any of them been set as the primary house or maybe you've placed a house recently?

  3. There was the castle on Lake Austin, and a small L-shape on Napa. I didn't place any house. And even if I did wouldn't it have dropped both?

  4. Is it possible for UO to glitch and houses that shouldn't fall, fall?

You should never have been allowed to have a grandfathered house on Lake Austin. Grandfathered homes are older than that.

  6. They are very old. Which is why I have paid for the account so long, and now it's just gone? I am very very disappointed. Trying to stay calm.

Lake Austin isn't old enough to be supporting a grandfathered house...

Are you trying to say grandfathered houses came before the addition of Lake Austin shard?

Either way that sucks, esp. to lose the castle instead of the smaller house.

  9. Lake Austin was around before it. It was given to me when somebody quit. I already had the L shape. That's not true.. I have had the house forever.

It's my recollection that there aren't grandfathered houses that even exist in TRAMMEL. Lake Austin is still a relatively new shard by comparison to that.

  11. Both houses were in Felucca. The castle on Ice island, and the L shape somewhere in Trinsic. Lake Austin I know for a fact, had the castle. The other was on Napa Valley. I do not know how, but it happened. And it's still showing the L shape is grandfathered, yet no other houses are on the account. Is it possible that maybe UO glitched and the house fell?

You miss the point, Lake Austin is NEWER than trammel. You would need to have placed a house on Lake Austin at LEAST a year before Lake Austin existed.

  13. Please try to explain further... I'm not very "thinky" today, as I'm very stressed out. You're saying grandfathered houses, can't exist on Lake Austin shard? Because it's newer than trammel? I've had the house for as long as I can remember and it was indeed grandfathered..

Housing rules changed at or before the time trammel came out.
Ie: You could not own more than 1 house after trammel. (roughly 2001)
Lake Austin came out in 2002.

Just a look at the timeline seems to indicate you couldn't own a grandfathered house on Lake Austin because the ability to own more than 1 house at a time ceased before Lake Austin came out.

If you had a grandfathered house under that timeline, some kind of special circumstances had to grant you one. Or it was somehow created via a bug, that has simply corrected itself.

I am not quite sure of the time line as Lake Austin came to be.

But to end this, send a pm to Mesanna about it. Only she can look into this if there is a bug..

Speaking as a grandfathered home owner I would hate to see on the 16th the rash of players screaming all Grandfathers are falling....

Better to be safe then sorry.

Omnis your off on your time line sugar... I have many in trammel that are grandfathered. Your thinking of the 1 house per account ruleset that came in that made alot of homes grandfathered.

I would email Mesanna. If she can't figure it out its unknowable. Also I believe she checks her email more regularly then she is on stratics. Also for something like this time is an issue.

Publish 16, 2002 (I thought July, but I could be wrong), brought about these housing changes. Lake Austin also went live in 2002, though I do not remember which came first.

Did you make sure to refresh them? (Do you still need to do this?) I lost my grandfathered houses because they were not manually refreshed.

This is from ORIGIN - Ultima Online - Main

There were still grandfathered houses after trammel. It was per shard at that point. I have 2 accounts with over 4 houses on different trammel shards.

Sounds like a bug OP. Good luck getting anyone to understand what you are talking about in CS, much less do anything about it. Remember they don't replace lost items nor do they replace them when they say they actually will(rubble deletion Magincia.)

Not sure about that timing -

Publish 16 - launched mid 2002 but had a few 'stages' to it

ORIGIN - Ultima Online - Main

Publish 16 - Housing Ownership Changes - UOGuide, the Ultima Online encyclopedia

Whilst Lake Austin was launched slightly later in 2002 - http://www.uoguide.com/Lake_Austin - so quite possibly DID overlap and it was possible to get a grandfathered house there.....

Just checked both of my accounts with grandfathered house(all houses in trammel) and they both show granfather on the info tab. On the security tab there is an option to make primary.

    OP:

The only thing that could have happened by you is to click the tab to "Make Primary" from the house sign. You can check your existing house on the info tab and it will say grandfathered or not. If it said grandfathered you have a case. However, I don't see anyone fixing it for you. Played this game too long to expect something like that.

Then I have no clue what you mean... if the publishes bringing in Grandfathered houses and setting the rules for them don't apply, what does?

It merely altered and created a name for a category of homes created previously.

It actually added new grandfathered houses also. This was separate from the grandfathered houses that were created when Tram was created. Maybe this didnt apply to you, but it did to me, and many others. When publish 16 went live I had 3 accounts worth of houses become grandfathered. Publish 16 was what changed accounts to only being able to have 1 house.

I had two houses on an account, both grandfathered, both in Felucca. The first home placed fell at some point. (I posted about here somewhere). It was after a billing issue. Which had happened a few times over the years. I would guess it was something along those lines. When the payment I think it changed or reactivated if it fails, starts to decay the first one. I never bothered to check into in myself, meaning asking someone at EA.
